Abstract

Rapid population growth causes an increase in clean water, where water is the main need for humans and living creatures. The availability of water in the world is very abundant, but only a few percent can be used or consumed. The provision of clean water often encounters problems resulting in obstacles in providing clean water for the community. The people of Tanjungsari Hamlet are one of the communities who are having problems getting clean water because the well water they use contains quite high levels of iron (Fe). Therefore, the ITS community service team and KKN students created a filtration technology implementation program to help provide clean water for the residents of Dsn.Tanjungsari. Starting from planning program implementation, conducting site surveys and identifying problems, continuing with designing and working on tools/technology, then installing tools/technology at Dsn.Tanjungsari and finally monitoring the performance of tools/technology after the tools/technology are installed. The results obtained are that the technology applied can eliminate strong odors and make water free from Fe content and the equipment used to distribute clean water uses reservoirs which originally had a capacity of 3,000 liters to a capacity of 8,300 liters.

The purpose of this activity is to increase students' understanding and ability in fertilising orchids. Partners in this activity are Biology students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tanjungpura University. This activity has several stages, namely planning (determination of time, preparation of tools and materials), implementation (provision of material, demonstration, fertilisation practice) and evaluation (questionnaire). The knowledge and ability of Biology students in caring for orchids has increased. Participants were very satisfied reaching 92.86% after participating in this training. Participants also experienced an increase in the material and practice of orchid fertilisation by 85.71%. This activity was able to increase understanding and ability about orchid fertilisation. The understanding and skills in orchid fertilisation obtained are expected to be able to be practised at home in caring for orchids so that they flower quickly.

Abstract

Rural development and microfinance sustainability are the main focus to address the gap between urban and rural areas. Based on the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024, Indonesia prioritizes rural development with the allocation of village funds from the state budget since 2015. The training on the establishment and governance of Village Banks is the first step in establishing village banks and increasing financial inclusion in rural areas. The training implementation method includes problem identification, preparation of training materials, training implementation, and sustainability evaluation. The training activities held in Sumberdem Village involved various parties, such as community leaders, village officials, BUMDES administrators, and KKN UNIRA Malang students. The training materials included business planning, the process of establishing a village bank, good governance, and the products and services that can be offered by the Village Bank. Interactive discussions and simulations were used to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding. A follow-up mentoring program will be conducted to help implement the knowledge gained in real practice.

Abstract

One effort to produce organic food products is to increase the productivity of organic farming using bioactivators to create a conducive environment to support the growth and fertility of soil microbiota, protect the surrounding environment, and increase soil fertility. Organic food is managed in such a way as to realize sustainable productivity. Therefore, the provision of bioactivators as decomposers of organic matter in the soil can facilitate the maximum presence of nutrients, water and air. Trial of the use of bioactivators consisting of a consortium of microorganisms as agents for decomposing organic matter in soil. The research results show that bioactivators can repair the chemical, physical, and microbiological properties of soil. The use of bioactivators does not cause the heavy metals accumulation in water, soil, and plant growth. As a decomposer of soil organic matter, bioactivators meet the minimum of technical requirements. The use of bioactivators as decomposers of soil organic matter to support organic agricultural commodities so as not to have a negative impact on the accumulation of heavy metals in soil, water and the surrounding environment.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is considered a primary driver of economic growth, as entrepreneurs possess innovative, proactive, and risk-taking spirits. Instilling entrepreneurial character from an early age is crucial in shaping strong mindsets and intentions. Thus, an outreach was conducted using the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) method in high schools, where students often have limited understanding beyond basic buying and selling concepts. The outreach involved practical activities and interactive discussions, introducing entrepreneurial characteristics, motivation, and elements of the business model canvas. The results indicate an improvement in entrepreneurial understanding, reflected in the creativity of products generated by students, yet there remains a need to enhance entrepreneurial motivation. This outreach underscores the importance of an entrepreneurial approach in education to support economic advancement.

Abstract

Crystal guava is an agricultural fruit for the community in Rasau Jaya Village, Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan. Crystal guava is marketed in the form of fresh fruit with a relatively high and stable price. However, when the fruit harvest is abundant, guavas that are not immediately processed/consumed are easily rotten, causing farmers to lose money. Making fruit chips is a post-harvest processing effort that can increase selling value and overcome fruit damage. The purpose of this activity was to educate fruit farmers in Rasau Jaya through making crystal guava chips for post-harvest fruit management and increasing selling value to overcome losses. Partners in this activity were fruit farmers in Rasau Jaya. The method in this activity was training (theory delivery, demonstration and practice). Education participants were satisfied with the activity of making crystal guava chips (90%) and gained additional knowledge and skills (95%). Participants hope that after participating in this activity they can process crystal guava into chips so as to increase income and minimise losses due to guava damage.
