Abstract

The mosque is a place to worship Allah SWT. Mosques have an important meaning for Muslims because they have a long history and are inseparable from the development of Muslim civilization. As a religious building, the mosque is a representation of the Muslim community that gave birth to and prospered it. Mosques evolve and develop dynamically along with the growth and development of culture in society, presenting two sides of the coin. On the one hand, this dynamic encourages the growth and adaptation of mosques to social and cultural changes. But on the other hand, it presents a problem in understanding the history of the mosque as a whole. The evolution of the mosque also opens up opportunities for deeper exploration of the mosque in order to understand history. By analyzing the development of mosques from various aspects, such as architecture, culture and social roles, we can gain a deeper understanding of the changes and development of mosques in various historical periods in the world and in Indonesia.

Abstract

Persis (Persatuan Islam –Islamic Union) is one of the Islamic organizations in Indonesia that has made a significant contribution to the development of education since it was founded in 1923. This article aims to analyze the role of Persis in building an education system based on Islamic values, starting from the colonial era and the independence to the current modern era. Using a historical and qualitative-descriptive approach, this research examines the educational strategies, challenges and innovations carried out by Persis through madrasas, Islamic boarding schools and formal educational institutions. The findings show that Persis is consistent in fighting for education based on pure Islamic beliefs, both through curriculum formation, teacher training and the development of educational institutions. In the reform and digital era, Persis continues to adapt to technology and global needs to ensure the relevance of Islamic education in producing a generation with noble character and high competence. This research confirms that the role of Persis education does not only cover the Islamic realm but also contributes to Indonesia's national development. Contribution: By promoting character education through various community initiatives, including social media outreach, Persis demonstrates its commitment to fostering a generation that embodies noble values while being equipped for modern societal roles.

Abstract

This study examines and highlights the relevance of Laudato Si’ and Laudate Deum in addressing injustice within the context of environmental degradation. The researcher argues that these documents provide profound moral perspectives that frame environmental issues not merely as ecological challenges but as manifestations of injustice affecting humanity as a whole. A qualitative approach was employed, combining descriptive qualitative and comparative methods. The study involves an in-depth exploration of Pope Francis's thoughts on justice in Laudato Si’ and Laudate Deum, utilizing literature reviews of Church documents and the Pope's personal history. The findings reveal that Pope Francis integrates social and ecological justice within a framework of integral ecology, emphasizing the interconnectedness of humanity and creation. Drawing from John Rawls's distributive justice and Brian Baxter's ecological justice theories, the study explores how these perspectives are reflected in the papal encyclicals. While Rawls focuses on the fair distribution of rights and duties within social institutions, Baxter extends justice to non-human entities. Pope Francis synthesizes these ideas, advocating for social inclusion and ecological stewardship as responses to exploitation and inequality. The study underscores the holistic approach of Pope Francis, where justice encompasses the dignity of the marginalized and the protection of the environment. His teachings challenge technocratic paradigms and call for collective responsibility to create a more just and sustainable world. By bridging social and ecological concerns, Laudato Si’ and Laudate Deum offer critical insights for addressing environmental degradation as an issue of moral and social justice.

This research uses Alfred Schutz's religious phenomenology approach regarding the construction of meaning, then analyzed using indicators of religious moderation, namely tolerance, non-violence and radicalism, national commitment and accommodating to local culture. The method used in this research is grounded research, a type of qualitative research with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The data sources used in this research are primary and secondary. Primary sources were obtained from interviews with village officials, community leaders, religious leaders, and the people of Kampung Toleransi. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained through books, journals and websites. The results of this research can be concluded that in the Village of Tolerance, there is a manifestation of religious moderation. Religious moderation is understood as an attitude or view that respects each other amidst existing differences. The attitude of religious moderation in Tolerance Village can be seen from the people who have and always prioritize an attitude of tolerance, wasatiyah or balanced, fair, musawah or equal, and deliberation. Its manifestation is realized in the form of strengthening tolerance, national commitment, anti-violence and radicalism, respect for local culture, the role of religious figures and government policies.

Abstract

The relevance of how the Al-Qur’an is interpreted in the modern day is explicitly covered in this essay. This approach’s primary goal is to investigate the meaning and historical relevance of the verses under interpretation and then transform that historical significance into dynamic significance. The following procedures are used to determine historical meaning and significance: (a) textual analysis, (b) intratextuality, (c) intertextuality, (d) examination of the historical setting in which the verse was revealed, and (e) reconstruction of the verse’s major meaning. To determine the verse’s dynamic significance, the following procedures are followed: (a) classifying the verse, (b) contextualizing and re-actualizing the verse’s significance, (c) identifying the verse’s symbolic meaning, and (d) fortifying the verse’s construction with knowledge to assist others. It is impossible to divorce the research methodology employed in this study from the realization of the ma’na-cum-maghza approach’s urgency. Because content analysis is used in this study, Sahiron’s work in applying the ma’na-cum-maghza methodology to QS Al-Maidah (5): 51 may be thoroughly examined. Similarly, the qualitative method used in this study can interpret ma’na-cum-maghza in the context of today, particularly in light of modern interpretations, which are supported by information the author gathered from books, documents, journals, and notes. Some observations about Ma’na-cum-Maghza. The author explains the connecting bridge as an explanation of ma’na-cum-maghza by utilizing source triangulation to find the validity of the data and sample Q 5:51, which Sahiron interpreted. This produces research that is compatible with the disclosure of the urgency of ma’na-cum-maghza.

This study is important to carry out considering that each generation has its own characteristics that distinguish it from other generations, especially in the education process. The research method used in this study is a literature study with the stages of reviewing, collecting, and analyzing these references. The results of this study indicate that Generation Z has a variety of uniqueness compared to other generations. The most prominent uniqueness of this generation is their ability and habits in using technology. In addition, this generation is also known as a generation that is more creative and innovative, has social responsibility, is active, likes to seek comfort, prioritizes security, is easy to connect with each other, and other characteristics. The uniqueness of Generation Z brings changes to various aspects of life, including the character education process. Character education for this generation can be carried out through the family environment, school environment, and community environment. Character education in the family environment emphasizes more on the use of good approaches and the creation of a harmonious family environment. Meanwhile, education in the school environment for Generation Z can be implemented by choosing a variety of strategies, approaches, and learning models that are right for this generation. As for character education through the current community environment, it can be done by creating religious character posts that are uploaded to the internet via social media. This study recommends that subsequent researchers conduct character education experiments in the school, family, or community environment. Contribution: By identifying the characteristics of Generation Z, the research highlights the need for educational approaches that cater to their specific needs. This includes adapting teaching methods to incorporate technology and interactive learning experiences that resonate with their digital upbringing.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the struggle, thoughts and political strategies of one of the Masyumi party figures, namely Mohammad Isa Anshary, in opposing the spread of communist ideology in Indonesia. This research uses historical methods through four stages, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation and writing. The data processing technique in this research is descriptive qualitative, namely data analysis simultaneously with data collection. The results of this research show that the figure of Isa Anshary, who is a Masjumi party politician and general chairman of a religious movement in Indonesia, namely Islamic Unity, has a very central role in defending Islamic ideology from attacks by communist ideology which destroys the order of religious, national and state life. He is positioned as a radical Islamic fundamentalist figure because of his uncompromising nature regarding Islam ideology. It is hoped that this research will provide readers with insight into the importance of Islamic political struggles in Indonesian history, as well as their impact on national political dynamics. appreciates the contribution of great figures such as Mohammad Isa Anshary who may be less known to the younger generation, especially his role in opposing the spread of communist ideology in Indonesia and provides an opportunity for readers to reflect on and study Islamic thought in a political and social context. This research presents a reinterpretation of the role, thoughts and political strategies of Mohammad Isa Anshary in the Indonesian political movement, especially in facing the threat of communism which grew rapidly after independence, through efforts to consolidate the Islamic political power he built. So far, many studies have focused more on big figures such as Sukarno, Hatta, or other military figures, while the role of figures such as Isa Anshary, who contributed to Islamic thought and political strategy, often receives less attention.
