Abstract

The existence of a monodisciplinary approach leaves no room for discussion between the sciences. There needs to be an interconnection and integration approach so that some sciences can reveal ideas to solve the problems faced. The focus of this research is on the comparison of the thoughts of M. Amin Abdullah and Mehdi Golshani on the integration of scientific interconnections. This research is library research through data collection techniques by searching for sources, either articles, books, or other sources relevant to the topic of discussion. After collecting the data, it is selected, analyzed, and conclusions formulated. The results showed that Mehdi Golshani supported the integration of scientific interconnection, but only for religion and science. In contrast to the perspective of M. Amin Abdullah, who created the idea of interconnection between religious science and general science, not only science was described through spider webs. M. Amin Abdullah assumes that religion and general science must be open to each other, even though each science has characteristics. With openness, it can create space for discussion so that what is debated as a problem can be criticized to produce a more comprehensive opinion.

Abstract

Plurality has become an endless debate by Islamic scholars in finding truth in knowledge. The study aims to analyze the plurality of truth from the perspective of hushuli science (knowledge by correspondence) and its application. The approach that researchers use is qualitative with the content analysis method, which is an analytical study of ideas or products of plurality thinking that begins with describing the primary ideas that are the object of research. Ideas are obtained from primary and secondary texts. The results concluded that there is a plurality of truth knowledge in the perspective of hushuli science. The diversity of truth is a necessity and must be accepted. This plurality of truth can be a foothold in developing tolerance among religious people. The truth of knowledge is not homogeneous but heterogeneous. This fact must be a foothold in teaching about the multiculturalism that exists in life. The results of this study are expected to be able to make a positive contribution to the life of a plural society in order to realize that plurality should not be opposed to each other but to coexist in the frame of togetherness.

Abstract

Nationalism can be seen as a double-edged sword, which functions as a binding of a nation's identity but can also trigger Islamophobia and terrorism. After the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States, the country began accusing various groups and countries of being involved in acts of terrorism through Islamophobia by promoting its nationalist spirit. This research aims to explore the side of nationalism that can contribute to the rise of Islamophobia and terrorism in the United States. The methods used in this study are historical methods and radical hermeneutics with a qualitative approach. The September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States indicate the existence of four stages that affect the development of Islamophobia and terrorism in the United States, namely: Events that create deep fear and trauma in American society, agents and mass media who began to spread fear excessively, so that the American people increasingly felt threatened and sought protection, the emergence of a figure who is considered a savior by the people of the United States, who then instigates other groups with the spirit of nationalism so that there is a division in the society of the United States; and the incited people of the United States began to demand revenge against a person or group, namely Muslims.

Abstract

Conflict based on religious and belief differences is one of the longstanding SARA (ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group relations) issues that persist to this day. Yet, all religions and beliefs come with noble teachings and bring messages of peace for all creation. The paradigm of religious moderation emerged as a perceived solution to various religion-motivated conflicts. This study aims to investigate whether religious moderation presented by policymakers and academics constitutes objective knowledge from Karl Mannheim's perspective and its relevance to strengthening national commitment. This research falls into the category of library research. The methodology employed is qualitative with philosophical and sociological approaches. The findings of this study are: First, moderate Islamic theology refers to the ideas and attitudes of believers who have a balanced and non-extremist view characterized by tawassuth (moderation), tawazun (balance), i'tidal (upright and firm), tasamuh (tolerance), and musawah (egalitarianism and non-discrimination). Second, the emergence of moderate Islamic theology is due to the socio-cultural conditions of society, security conditions, and academic reasons. Third, Mannheim's three types of meanings: Objective meaning, the government's response, and academics' perspectives are objective actions considering the contemporary social context that develops narratives of intolerance and radicalism. Expressive meaning, the narrative of moderate Islamic theology is also an expression of the actors or formulators of the moderate Islamic theology concept. Documentary, it means these actors are recorded in history as part of culture. Its relevance shows that the presence of moderate Islamic theology is needed to strengthen the commitment to the nation's four pillars. The recommendation from this research is that it can be used to strengthen the argument for national commitment through the philosophical concept of moderate Islam.

Abstract

The discourse of Islamic theology among Muslim scholars has experienced fierce debates related to takfiri (in the Ali group) and mihnah (Mu'tazilah scholars' investigation of Qadi) on human deeds, including the persecution of followers of the Wahdatul Wujud school in Indonesia. This article aims to examine theodity in the debate to avoid killing and disbelieving behavior and interpret the destination in the conflict between oral and literal theological firqah that affects active evil due to evil inspired by the ability to achieve shallow believers (ijmali), simple believers (tafshili), complete believers (tafshilimutammim), perfect believers (tafshili mukammil) and special believers (tafshili khususiyat). This article is a literal study that examines the theoretical thinking of Islamic firqah with critical analysis. This article finds that oral theology always adheres to the essence leading to sophisticated logic, while literal theology holds to the truth of the combined interpretation of reason-revelation. Oral theology is a theology without reference to the book of mu'tabarah (legacy) so that theological discussions are often framed in freespeech while literal theology obliges itself to hold on to the book of mu'tabarah. The logic of theology rests on the logic of burhani and kammiyah which is patterned of tanzih-tasbih (pure-holy) and nafi-itsbat (negation-inaugurate).

Abstract

The MUI fatwa related to interreligious greetings has created polemics in Indonesian society, particularly in the context of Islamic moderation. This fatwa prohibits interreligious greetings which are considered to damage the purity of Islamic teachings that affect social relations, especially in families that have different beliefs. This article aims to analyse the impact of the MUI fatwa on the dynamics of family law in Indonesia, especially on families who have different beliefs and their relevance to the principles of Islamic moderation in the context of family law. This article uses a qualitative approach with an analysis of the content of the MUI fatwa related to greetings in family law, and interviews with family law experts and religious leaders who understand the implications of the fatwa on family relations in interfaith Indonesian society. This article shows that the MUI Fatwa causes tension in families of different beliefs regarding interfaith greetings. This fatwa also shows the tension between maintaining religious identity and maintaining family harmony. In the context of family law, this fatwa affects basic principles such as respect for religious differences and the values of inclusivity in families of different religions. This article offers a new perspective that connects the MUI fatwa related to interfaith greetings with family law in Indonesia.
