AKSARA: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra (Journal of Linguistics and Literature) is a biannual journal (April and October) published by the Department of Language and Arts Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Lampung. It addresses a wide range of different fields in linguistics, applied linguistics, arts, and literature. The journal aims to promote the development of links between research in linguistics, applied linguistics, arts, as well as literature and its application in professional and educational settings. Abstract

Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mendeskripsikan relasi di antara cinta, kematian, dan perempuan, yang ditampilkan di dalam empat cerpen dari kumpulan cerpen “Jatuh Cinta Adalah Cara Terbaik untuk Bunuh Diri”karya Bernard Batubara. Data dikumpulkan dengan studi pustaka dan dikaji dengan metode deskriptif analisis. Kajian dilakukan dengan pendekatan psikologi sastra serta kritik sastra feminis. Landasan teoretis tentang kematian dan bunuh diri yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berasal dari Durkheim, Freud, dan Camus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cinta menjadi penyebab atau motif tindak bunuh diri (fisik atau mental) yang dilakukan para protagonis. Bunuh diri yang dilakukan para tokoh dikategorikan sebagai bunuh diri egoistik dan fatalistik. Sosok perempuan dalam cerpen dicitrakan sebagai perempuan setia dan berkarakter negatif (femme fatale). Perempuan juga ditampilkan memiliki kuasa dalam relasi percintaan. Secara keseluruhan, cinta yang ditampilkan Bernard Batubara di dalam cerpen-cerpen tersebut bersifat kelam, tidak menyenangkan, dan bahkan mematikan.

Abstract

Banten dialect of Javanese, is a variant of the Javanese language in Java. As in other Javanese dialects, of course there are minor differences that cause the uniqueness of the dialect in the Javanese language. This difference is also found in the Banten dialect of Javanese, especially in vocal harmony. In standard Javanese, the word /toko/, if it followed by the suffix /-e/ will be pronounced [tokone] 'its shop', while in the Banten dialect of Javanese, the word /toko/ if it followed by the suffix /-e/ will be pronounced [tɔkɔne] 'its shop'. This paper discusses the vocal harmony that occurs in the Banten dialect of Javanese. Vowel phonemes, which have allophones, play a very important role in forming vocal harmony when there is an affixation process. By using the distributional analysis method with the ultimat constituent analysis, the researcher found that the vocal harmony process in the allophones produced from the five vocal phonemes of the Banten dialect of Javanese /i/, /e/, /a/, /o/, and /u/ are found in the affixation process, those are: (1) Sufix /-e/ 'genitive meaning', (2) Suffix /-i/, ‘imperative meaning', (3) suffix /-aken/ 'imperative and declarative meaning', and (4) Suffix /-en/ 'imperative meaning'.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the understanding of high school Indonesian teachers in Mesuji District towards the revised edition 2013 curriculum. The method used in this research is descriptive evaluative. The results of questionnaires from 27 respondents indicate that teachers 'understanding of Permendikbud in 2016 number 20 with Good category dominates by almost 50%, teachers' understanding of Permendikbud in 2016 number 21 with Good and Simple dominate by 50% at Permendikbud 2016 number 22 with the category of Good dominate with the amount more than 50%, then the teacher's understanding of Permendikbud year 2016 number 23 with Good category dominate with amount more than 50%. The results can be concluded that the level of understanding of high school Indonesian language teacher in Mesuji District to the curriculum 2013 edition of the revision has been qualified. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/aksara/v19i1.pp54-60

Abstract

Pembelajaran sastra di lembaga pendidikan formal dari hari ke hari semakin sarat dengan berbagai persoalan. Tampaknya, pembelajaran sastra memang pembelajaran yang bermasalah sejak dahulu. Keluhan-keluhan para guru, siswa, dan sastrawan tentang rendahnya tingkat apresiasi sastra selama ini menjadi bukti kongkret adanya sesuatu yang tidak beres dalam pembelajaran sastra di lembaga pendidikan formal. Permasalahan itu muncul disebabkan beberapa faktor, rendahnya mutu atau kualitas pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra Indonesia di sekolah selama ini disebabkan oleh banyak hal, mulai dari kurikulum, guru, siswa, sarana prasarana, rendahnya pemahaman konsep tentang sastra. Berbagai solusi yang dapat ditempuh untuk mengatasi hal tersebut di antaranya jadikan sekolah sebagai lahan sastra, pembelajaran yang Inovatif, membelajarkan sastra dengan pendekatan pragmatik sastra, bergerak dari praktik bersastra ke teori bersastra, peran lembaga penyedia guru dan pemberdayaan berkelanjutan, sistem evalauasi khusus sastra, penerapan dalam konteks di sekolah.Kata kunci: pembelajaran, sastra, problematika, solusi

Abstract

Figurative language in poetry is important to study because figurative language is one part of the physical structure of poetry that can animate or cause certain effect and cause certain connotation of words contained in poetry. This research was carried out to obtain figurative language description in Chairil Anwar's poems. The procedure that was passed from data collection to data interpretation were (a) identifying figurative languages in Chairil Anwar's poems, (b) understanding languages in figurative form, (c) understanding the description of meaning contained in it, and ( d) marking the units of segmentation in the form of figurative language. Data analysis was based on three processes, namely the reduction process, the data presentation process, and the verification process. Based on the result of the study obtained, the figurative language is closely related to reality life, poets have a specific purpose in using figurative language, reader must try to understand figurative language in an effort to intact the meaning of a poem, in the poems of Chairil Anwar a number of the beauty of figurative language that can help the reader interpret the meaning of the lines contained there in. Figurative language is presented in his poems to make it easier for reader to interpret the poem. In his poems, Chairil Anwar does not just mention figurative language so that the poems seem interesting, but the inclusion of figurative language was done carefully so that the reader is able to know the meaning of figurative language even though it is considered difficult to interpret.http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/aksara/v21i1.pp41-56

Abstract

One of impacts that can be observed on language difference during learning English is interference. Indonesian medical students have problem with speaking; what they said does not reflects what was in their mind. This descriptive analysis study identified the interference on medical students while doing speaking activity in the class. Four students were chosen randomly as the subjects to give their diagnosis verbally. Their speaking was recorded, transcribed and coded. The analysis was done on basis of four types of interference by categorizing language transfer into four types: phonological, grammatical, lexical and orthographical. Result showed that among four language transfers or interferences, phonological and grammatical interferences were prominent. As addition generalization and fossilization can be observed. Students did less English pronunciation practice in the class meanwhile Indonesian language has very different way on pronouncing a word. Some medical terms such as LDL and hypertension were uttered in Indonesian language within giving diagnosis in English. Teachers at Medical Class should introduce medical terms in English together with the pronunciation. Abstract

Seni pertunjukan yang dimiliki masyarakat Lampung sangat beragam dan memiliki nilai filososi bagi masyarakatnya. Tari khakot merupakan salah satu seni pertunjukan tari yang berasal dari masyarakat Lampung yang selalu dihadirkan saat upacara adat. Perkembangan dan pertumbuhan seni pertunjukan tersebut selalu difungsikan oleh masyarakatnya karena memiliki nilai budaya yang terus diwariskan dari generasi ke generasi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengungkap tentang nilai-nilai yang terkadung dalam seni pertunjukan tari tersebut. Fenomena ini sangat menarik untuk dikaji dari perspektif nilai budaya masyarakat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, Berdasarkan hasil analisis data yang dilakukan diperoleh hasil, bahwa tari khakot merupakan seni pertunjukan arak-arakan sebagai salah satu bagian rangkaian iring-iringan dari rombongan pengantin. Tari khakot memiliki nilai pendidikan untuk membentuk karakter bagi masyarakat Lampung terkhusus bagi generasi muda. Nilai karakter tangguh, tanggungjawab, dan bijaksana dapat dilihat dari ragam gerak, properti, dan musik pengiringnya.

Abstract

Discourse is a general term for examples of language use, i.e., language which has been produced as the result of an act of communication. Whereas grammar refers to rules a language uses to form grammatical units as CLAURSE, and PHRASE, and SENTENCE, discourse refers to larger units of language such as paragraphs, conversations, and interviews. Sometimes the study of both written and spoken discourse is known as DISCOURSE ANALYSIS, some researchers however use discourse and TEXT LINGUISTICS to refer to the study of written discourse.Key Words: conceptual, communicative, discourse, text linguistics.

Abstract

Teaching is a dynamic process that involves a quick decision-making process and is also an activity that refers to what students need. This decision-making process often appears as a reflection of what the teacher believes and also as a reflection of the theory adopted by the institution where the teacher works. This can then be said as evidence to claim that the concept (belief) that is believed by the teacher influences the decisions about learning practices and influences the activities that the teacher does in the classroom. Every teacher has belief as a basic reference that they believe in teaching as well as a reference for overcoming obstacles that occur in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. This study will examine whether there is a difference between perceptions language teacher of English in the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in Unila. This study uses English lecturer as the sample from two different faculties in Unila. The questionnaire is distributed to selected respondents and will then be analyzed descriptively and qualitatively.Keywords: Teaching belief, perception, English Lecturer, EFL.

Abstract

Disasters, pollution, and animal hunting continue to occur unnoticed that humans are part of their lives. The purpose of this study is to explore the form of the study of the short story writer "On the Seine Lamenting Citarum" which has an environmental theme. and analyze the ecocritical elements reflected by the author through a short story, "On the Seine Lamenting Citarum". This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The approach used is the Garrard ecocritical approach. The data source consists of three short stories, namely, "On the Seine Lamenting Citarum" the author reflects on environmental phenomena which include water pollution. Exploitation of nature which brings casualties.
