Abstract

The transformation of digital education in Indonesia has not been seen as a need for future education services towards society 5.0. This study aims to describe, explore and analyze that technology-based education is an urgent new model in organizing the education system. This qualitative study is based on secondary data from literature studies. The research findings are that the integration of digital technology in education is an inevitable reality to build a quality-sustainable education paradigm. This integration is done through the process of transforming educational services from the classroom into a multifaceted digital platform that includes online learning, virtual classrooms, and e-books. This transformation is a consequence of the development of society towards society 5.0; the prevalence of the digital-native generation and global disruptions such as pandemics and environmental crises. Thus, the current social reality requires an adaptive-innovative education system and collaboration among stakeholders. This collaboration ensures the realization of an education system that is aligned with the complexities of the current and future socio-technological landscape, ultimately promoting inclusivity, resilience, and sustainability.

Abstract

Ethnopedagogy is a modern approach to integrating local wisdom into education, aligning with the Merdeka Curriculum’s emphasis on cultural arts to counter Generation Z's detachment from Indonesia's heritage and prevent them from becoming passive technology users. This study aims to explore the relationship between ethnopedagogy and cultural arts education through qualitative research employing a literature-based approach. Data were collected from observations and documentation studies of reputable national and international journals. Thematic analysis was employed to investigate and contextualize ethnopedagogy’s integration within cultural arts education in the era of globalization. The findings highlight that ethnopedagogy fosters a holistic understanding of culture among students. Through cultural arts education, students develop skills and knowledge to connect local wisdom with the demands of the modern era. This study underscores the significance of ethnopedagogy as a foundation for arts education, promoting cultural literacy across all educational levels in alignment with governmental and institutional policies. Such an approach ensures that education contributes to preserving and revitalizing Indonesia’s cultural identity in a globalized world.

Abstract

The limited use of effective learning media by teachers often leads to low student engagement during lessons, highlighting the need for innovative tools that can help students quickly grasp the material. This study aims to develop an interactive learning media based on Articulate Storyline 3 for the fifth-grade Dance Arts subject, focusing on the diversity of dance supporting elements. This research follows a development methodology using the ADDIE model (Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). The study's subjects include one Dance Arts subject matter expert, one instructional media expert, one practitioner, six students for a small-scale trial, and 20 students for a large-scale trial. The data analysis techniques employed are both quantitative and qualitative. The developed media comprises several features, including a cover page, student identity section, navigation menu, detailed material explanation, instructional videos, and a quiz or evaluation section for students. The findings indicate that the interactive media significantly enhances student learning outcomes, particularly in increasing their knowledge of the subject matter. Additionally, the media's interactive features and visually engaging content foster greater student enthusiasm and active participation in learning. This research demonstrates the potential of Articulate Storyline 3-based interactive media as an effective tool for improving the quality of elementary school education, particularly in creative arts subjects.

Abstract

Creative thinking is a critical skill for students to develop in mathematics learning. Educational researchers have found an inconsistent relationship between creative thinking and success in mathematics learning. This meta-analysis aims to determine the overall relationship between creative thinking and mathematics learning success. The study employed a quantitative approach, utilizing data from primary studies published in academic journals. The sample was collected using the Publish or Perish application, resulting in 14 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using correlation meta-analysis with the assistance of the JASP application. The analysis revealed that the correlation between creative thinking and mathematics learning success falls into the strong category. Additionally, the effect size of the correlation differed significantly across educational levels and between small and large sample sizes. However, no significant differences were observed in the effect size of the correlation based on the year of publication. These findings highlight the importance of fostering creative thinking skills in the mathematics learning process to enhance students' academic success.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has significantly encouraged the widespread adoption of technology-based learning. Digital learning media have become a crucial element in education; however, their utilization remains suboptimal due to teachers' limited understanding and skills in using these technologies. Thus, a comprehensive study is needed to analyze the effectiveness of digital media in learning processes. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of various types of digital learning media in primary education. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, reviewing 34 journals published between 2020 and 2023. Articles were identified using databases with the help of the Publish or Perish software and PRISMA methodology. The findings reveal that the most commonly used digital media are videos, Android-based applications, and interactive multimedia. These media are predominantly applied in science, mathematics, and social studies subjects and are more frequently utilized in upper-grade classrooms. Furthermore, the results indicate that the application of digital media in learning has proven effective in enhancing students' academic performance, affective domains, language skills, critical thinking skills, and knowledge. This study provides valuable insights for maximizing the potential of digital media to support learning at the primary education level.

Abstract

Lecturers are still lacking in developing electronic statistics course tests through Virtual Learning Unesa (Vinesa), which causes student learning outcomes to decline. The aim of this study was to test the feasibility and effectiveness of electronic central tendency material tests. Data analysis uses quantitative descriptive and t tests. The research subjects were 1 material expert, 1 media expert, 1 language expert, and 28 students. Data collection uses tests, observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The ADDIE model is used in this development research. The feasibility results of material validation, learning media, language, individual and small group trials are each in the very feasible category; the effectiveness results show that the control class (0.45) is in the low category and the experimental class (0.6) is in the sufficient category; and the test results t on sig. (2 tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05. Conclusion The development of electronic tests with central tendency material is suitable for use in tests and is effective in improving students' reasoning abilities. The implication of this research is the development of electronic test products that can be monitored for their level of feasibility, with the aim of improving student reasoning in statistics courses.

Abstract

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education often struggles to develop students' higher-order thinking skills and to address persistent conceptual misconceptions. To overcome these challenges, innovative educational approaches like STEM-PjBL (Project-Based Learning) are crucial for enhancing student learning outcomes. This study aims to critically assess the impact of STEM-PjBL on students' higher-order thinking skills, evaluate the effectiveness of models such as Ethno-STEM and STEM-PjBL Physics Modules in reducing misconceptions and improving conceptual understanding, and formulate strategic recommendations for integrating STEM-PjBL into STEM education curricula. The research employs a systematic literature review combined with meta-analysis, following PRISMA guidelines. The study design includes a rigorous search and critical evaluation of recent studies sourced from leading academic databases, including Web of Science, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, with the latest search conducted on January 10, 2024. The results show that STEM-PjBL significantly enhances higher-order thinking skills, improves scientific practices and techniques, and fosters positive scientific attitudes, while also enriching cognitive and non-cognitive skills through the integration of entrepreneurial elements in STEM learning. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating STEM-PjBL into educational curricula to better prepare students for complex future careers and to improve overall educational quality. Implementing STEM-PjBL in the classroom can help equip students with the relevant skills needed for success in STEM fields. This study provides valuable insights into the potential of STEM-PjBL to strengthen student competencies and enhance the effectiveness of STEM curricula.

Abstract

Improving the quality of science education in schools remains a critical focus in finding effective teaching models that can integrate various disciplines. The challenges faced is the lack of student engagement in connecting scientific concepts with real-life contexts, as well as low levels of critical thinking and deep understanding of concepts. This study aims to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the webbed integrated science teaching model and to explore its impact on students' ability to relate scientific knowledge to real-life contexts. This research employed the systematic literature review (SLR) method. This method is used by collecting and evaluating relevant research on a specific focus topic. Data collected and analyzed from 30 scholarly articles. The research instrument used is a literature assessment sheet. The data analysis technique employed is thematic analysis. The results of this study indicate that the application of the webbed integrated science teaching model has significant potential in enhancing the quality of science education. This model helps students connect information from various disciplines to real-life contexts.

Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools plays a crucial role in fostering students' curiosity and interest in science, developing critical and logical thinking skills, and equipping students with scientific knowledge and practical skills applicable in daily life. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of animated videos in enhancing science learning in elementary schools through a systematic literature review. Employing the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, data were sourced from Google Scholar, focusing on articles published between 2019 and 2023. The review was conducted in five stages. In the initial search using the keyword "use of animated videos," 1,280 documents were identified. Refining the search by limiting the publication years yielded 227 documents, while adding the keyword "science learning" identified 246 documents. Further narrowing with the keyword "primary school" produced 197 documents. Finally, the dataset was filtered based on alignment with the research theme. The findings reveal that animated videos are highly effective in enhancing science learning outcomes in elementary schools. These results emphasize the importance of integrating engaging instructional media, such as animated videos, to facilitate effective communication of science concepts. Educators are encouraged to incorporate such tools to create more interactive and impactful learning experiences in science education.

Abstract

Nowadays, there is a tendency among the younger generation to be less familiar with regional cultures in Indonesia, particularly the culture of statues, which are a heritage from our ancestors, such as the statues in East Kalimantan. Introducing these statues to the younger generation can help them understand the function of the statues and the appropriate behavior when encountering sacred statues. The objective of this research is to design an application equipped with augmented reality features and to evaluate the application to help the younger generation learn about and recognize the traditional statues of East Kalimantan. The analysis of the current situation was used to meet the needs in developing an application that displays 3D models along with information on the statues using augmented reality. This research employed a quantitative method involving 60 respondents. Each respondent completed a pre-test and a post-test, and the test results were compared using the paired sample t-test. The test results indicated a difference in the number of correct answers, with an average of 23 respondents on the pre-test and 58 respondents on the post-test. The results were statistically significant, with a value of 0.000. The evaluation was carried out through a questionnaire to determine the level of user satisfaction with the application. Based on the test and evaluation results, it was proven that the augmented reality application designed can enhance public knowledge about and recognition of the traditional statues of East Kalimantan.
