Abstract

Nowadays, humans cannot be separated from information technology; this significantly impacts various fields, especially educational administration. Academic services that were initially manual have now transformed into digital, where academic data, both information and other administration, can now be handled by information systems. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of implementing the integrated academic information system (SIAT) that has been running in Islamic universities. Data collection was carried out using a descriptive qualitative method concerning the field research approach combined with data triangulation; data collection was obtained by distributing questionnaires, qualitative interviews, and observations. The findings were that SIAT could increase the effectiveness and efficiency of academic services at the Faculty, ease of accessing information, especially in KRS filling activities, KHS checking, lecture monitoring, lecturer grade input, and distribution of lecture schedules can be done in one system. The obstacles felt were few, especially if the system was undergoing maintenance, data loading was hampered, and some students did not understand how to operate the information system. The solution that can be done is to hold periodic socialization regarding the implementation of SIAT and to update the system so that it remains optimal in its operation.

Abstract

This research focuses on the preservation of the "Mapak Tanggal" tradition in Mojo Village, East Java, amidst the challenges of the digital era. This tradition is an annual religious ritual that has an important role in strengthening social cohesion and maintaining the community's cultural identity. However, modernization and digitalization bring significant changes in participation patterns, especially among the younger generation who are more interested in technology than physical-based traditions. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation, involving religious leaders, community leaders, and cross-generational communities as key informants. Data analysis was conducted through a process of data reduction, data display, and verification to ensure the validity of the findings. The results showed that although digitalization affected the younger generation's participation in the tradition, the Mojo Village community successfully integrated technology as a preservation tool. Social media is used to document and promote the tradition of "Mapak Tanggal," thus attracting the interest of the younger generation and expanding audience reach. Religious leaders play an important role in maintaining a balance between cultural values and religious teachings through a moderate, inclusive approach. The findings suggest that technological adaptation can support the sustainability of local traditions without compromising their cultural and spiritual essence. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of an adaptive approach in the preservation of local traditions in the digital era.

Abstract

This research examines the phenomenon of Generation Alpha's consumption of religious content through social media at the Madura State Islamic Institute. The main focus of the research is to explore how Generation Alpha accesses and consumes religious information through social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube and to identify the challenges regarding the validity of the information. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach and in-depth interviews as data collection techniques. Data sources were obtained from IAIN Madura students who represent Generation Alpha and actively use social media for religious purposes. Data analysis was conducted by adapting data reduction, display, and verification techniques to find patterns and central themes in consuming religious information. The results show that Generation Alpha is more likely to consume religious content impulsively, prioritizing ease of access and attractive formats, such as short videos and infographics, without checking the authenticity of the source. Although social media provides convenience in obtaining information, the findings also reveal that the lack of information verification can lead to misunderstanding religious teachings. This study implies the need for a better educational approach to religious digital literacy to educate Generation Alpha in critically filtering information and prioritizing valid sources such as the Qur'an and Hadith. This research provides new insights for developing more effective and accurate digital-based religious learning.

Abstract

This article discusses the analysis of value theory in the context of markets and prices in Islamic economics. Using a qualitative approach, this study examines how the moral and ethical values contained in Islamic teachings affect market dynamics and pricing. Referring to Surah Al-Baqarah (2:188) which emphasizes the importance of fairness in transactions, as well as Surah Al-Anfal (8:28) which reminds of the need for transparency, this study shows that pricing in the Islamic economy should not only be based on economic factors, but also on the underlying sharia principles. Recent data shows that the halal product market is experiencing significant growth, with the market value estimated to reach USD 2.3 trillion by 2023. Growing consumer awareness of Shariah-compliant products, as reflected in Surah Al-Maidah (5:88), is creating greater demand for ethical goods and services. The research also identified challenges faced in the application of value theory, including fraudulent practices and unfairness in pricing. Therefore, the need for regulations that support the development of halal markets and Islamic economic education is crucial. The conclusion of this study shows that the application of value theory in the context of markets and prices is expected to create a more just and sustainable economic environment, as well as contribute to the development of economic practices based on sharia principles.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the sumpah pocong as a proof method within Islamic law and modern criminal law. The shroud oath is a unique cultural phenomenon in Indonesian society, especially in dispute resolution and truth verification. Although the shroud oath originates from a traditional tradition that has become part of religious practice in some communities, its validity in the formal legal system is often questioned because it does not meet the standards of proof empirically recognized in Islamic law and positive law. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach, exploring literature related to sumpah pocong, other methods of proof in Islamic law, and its social and legal impacts. Data were collected through a review of academic literature, accredited journal articles, and the latest factual publications, which were then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that sumpah pocong holds significant moral and spiritual power in specific communities. However, its validity in the formal legal system is questioned because it does not meet the empirically recognized standards of proof. Sumpah pocong is more appropriately viewed as part of local traditions that can function in customary dispute resolution. However, it cannot replace more structured methods of proof in Islamic law and positive law. In conclusion, while sumpah pocong has social relevance, its integration into the formal legal system must be cautiously used to uphold broader principles of justice.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of the Nazam Aqidatul Awam memorization method in introducing aqidah to elementary school students in strengthening the basics of Islamic aqidah. The study is based on the challenges of introducing and instilling aqidah in students amidst the rapid influence of globalization and unfiltered information. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design, which collects data through interviews, observations, and documentation from related parties such as principals, teachers, and students. The research findings show that the Nazam Aqidatul Awam memorization method effectively improves students' understanding of the basic teachings of Islamic aqidah, especially in monotheism, angels, and prophets. Using this memorization method also positively impacts the development of students' morals, ethics, and discipline and builds better character. The contribution of this study is to provide insight to academics and teachers in developing aqidah learning methods in elementary schools by emphasizing the importance of combining traditional and modern approaches in religious education. These findings indicate that the school has successfully implemented strategies to improve the quality of aqidah learning, which can be applied as a model for other Islamic educational institutions in strengthening the aqidah of the younger generation.

Abstract

The digital transformation and paradigm shifts in 21st-century education demand a reinterpretation of the concept of literacy from an Islamic perspective. Surah Al-‘Alaq, as the first revealed chapter, contains fundamental messages related to the activities of reading, thinking, and learning, which carry both spiritual and epistemological values. This study aims to analyze the coherence (munasabah) among the verses in Surah Al-‘Alaq verses 1–5 and to explore their relevance to the concept of modern literacy. The method employed is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with a qualitative descriptive approach, involving thematic analysis of 25 sources—consisting of scholarly journals and classical as well as contemporary tafsir—published in the last five years. The findings show that the structure of verses in Surah Al-‘Alaq forms an integrative Qur’anic literacy framework, encompassing spiritual dimensions (reading in the name of God), existential dimensions (awareness of creation), epistemological dimensions (the use of the pen as a symbol of civilization), and transformational dimensions (the process of continuous learning). These values are strongly relevant to modern literacy, such as digital, critical, and ethical literacy. Surah Al-‘Alaq can serve as a foundation for developing an Islamic literacy paradigm that meets contemporary challenges. The implication is that Islamic education needs to design a literacy curriculum that not only focuses on technical skills but also on shaping the spiritual, moral, and intellectual character of learners.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital media has significantly transformed religious communication, including the dissemination of Qur’anic interpretation across Southeast Asia. Online tafsir platforms have emerged as influential mediums through which Islamic teachings are articulated, interpreted, and engaged with by diverse audiences in the digital age. This study aims to examine how these platforms contribute to contemporary Qur'anic da'wah, particularly in terms of discursive construction, interpretive authority, and audience interaction, and a qualitative approach with digital discourse analysis combined with virtual ethnography. Employing a literature-based qualitative approach grounded in Critical Discourse Analysis, the research systematically reviewed 30 peer-reviewed publications focused on digital tafsir content within the Southeast Asian context. The findings reveal that online tafsir platforms not only increase accessibility to Qur’anic knowledge but also reshape the rhetorical and ideological dimensions of religious interpretation through interactive media, localized narratives, and evolving discourse strategies. These platforms increasingly mediate between traditional theological norms and contemporary sociocultural realities, often facilitating pluralistic and contextualized understandings of scripture. The study contributes theoretically by integrating Islamic studies with discourse analysis, offering a novel analytical framework to interrogate religious communication in digital environments.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the narrative of radicalism develops and influences social harmony among the Madurese ethnic community in Probolinggo Regency, using a symbolic interactionism perspective. The research is based on the assumption that a society with a majority Madurese ethnic population has strong social and cultural ties, but also faces the potential for radicalization due to economic injustice and the influence of conservative ideology. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, involving in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis as data collection techniques. The findings show that radicalism in Madurese society is mostly spread through social interactions within families and communities, with an important role for religious authority figures, such as kyai. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of social interaction and symbols in shaping the narrative of radicalism, as well as providing insights for efforts to prevent radicalization by strengthening social harmony at the community level.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in schools is often trapped in a dogmatic and textual approach, which is less able to accommodate the social and intellectual dynamics of students. This study aims to explore efforts to recontextualize PAI materials by adapting religious teachings to the context of students' social, cultural, and intellectual lives, in order to improve their understanding, engagement, and critical thinking skills. The method used in this study is a qualitative case study approach, conducted in a junior high school in Probolinggo Regency, involving in-depth interviews, observation, and data analysis. The research findings indicate that the recontextualization of PAI materials successfully created a more inclusive and reflective learning climate, increased student enthusiasm, and encouraged them to connect religious teachings with contemporary social issues. This study contributes to the development of religious education theory, by offering a new approach to PAI learning that is more applicable and relevant. The practical implication is the importance of developing more contextual and interactive teaching methods.
