Abstract

This research discusses Riau Televisi's local media transformation strategy in utilizing digital platforms as an effort to maintain its existence amidst developments in communication technology. Riau Televisi, which previously focused on conventional television broadcasts, has begun developing digital platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and online news portals as a means of distributing information. This research aims to find out how Riau Televisi plans, implements and evaluates digital transformation strategies in utilizing digital platforms. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data obtained was then analyzed using media convergence theory and mediamorphosis theory to understand the transformation process that occurred. The research results show that Riau Televisi's digital transformation was carried out through several stages, namely determining priority platforms, adjusting content and audience segmentation, producing and distributing multi-platform content, optimizing audience interaction, and evaluating and monitoring digital performance. Then digital platforms also make it easy for audiences to access information quickly and practically. Digital platforms function as initial media for disseminating information, while television broadcasts remain a source of more complete and in-depth information. This shows that digital media and television have a complementary relationship. Apart from that, audience interaction via social media is also an important indicator in assessing the success of published content. Content performance data is used as a basis for determining subsequent content production and distribution strategies.   Keywords: Digital Transformation, Local Media, Riau Television, Digital Platform

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms and processes of two-way communication between parents and children and to analyze students’ responses and behavioral changes in addressing the negative impacts of online gaming. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to provide an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon based on participants’ experiences. The research was conducted at SMPN 1 Dolok Batu Nanggar involving students and parents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that two-way communication occurs through stages of emotional approach, open dialogue, and mutually agreed guidance. Dialogic communication patterns foster openness, trust, and more harmonious relationships between parents and children. However, variations such as combined and one-way communication patterns are still found and influence the effectiveness of interactions. Students’ responses to two-way communication indicate positive changes in emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects. These changes include increased self-awareness, reduced gaming intensity, and greater openness in communication with parents. Nevertheless, behavioral changes are not entirely stable due to peer influence and the level of consistency within the family. A supportive and communicative family environment strengthens the effectiveness of communication. This study highlights that two-way communication is an effective strategy in addressing the negative impacts of online gaming, yet it requires consistency and sustained environmental support.   Keywords: Two-way Communication, Family Communication, Online Games, Child-Behavior

Abstract

This study analyzes gender inequality in the film Till Death Do Us Part by Upi Avianto, which were released in 2024. This psychological thriller genre film raises the issue of gender inequality of the role of wives which leads to domestic violence. Using a qualitative approach with Sara Mills' discourse analysis method, this study uses a descriptive qualitative method combined with Sara Mills discourse analysis as the main analytical framework that aims to understand how the position of gender subjects and objects is constructed in film texts, as well as how the audience is directed to interpret the roles and relationships between men and women. Data was collected through scrutiny of important scenes and dialogues in the film, then analyzed by identifying narrative and visual elements related to gender inequality, as well as the power relations formed between subjects and objects. The results of the study show that this film predominantly represents the wife as an object of helplessness, violence, and fear in the context of an abusive relationship. However, as the narrative progresses, there is a shift in which the wife's character, Renata, slowly transforms from a passive object to an active subject in resisting patriarchal domination and seeking independence.    Keywords: Critical Discourse Analysis of the Sara Mills Model, Gender Inequality Representation, Domestic Violence

Abstract

The Miduana indigenous community of Cianjur Regency has unique cultural traditions. The relationship between culture and religion is increasingly complex and mutually influencing. The presence of YouTube media has become a strategic choice to preserve this uniqueness and give birth to popular culture. The role of YouTube media provides information that differences in customs do not conflict with religious values, but can coexist. YouTube social media becomes a bridge in addressing challenges through creative narratives in content, besides the media representation has the potential to be negative due to misunderstandings (stereotypes). The use of YouTube by indigenous communities can strengthen the relevance of customs in the context of religion in the digital era. Media representation of religion and culture is a starting point in establishing an increase in aspects of other unique traditions in these indigenous communities. This study employs a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach and content analysis of media representations via YouTube. The findings and discussion of this study indicate that the representation of the religion and culture of the Miduana indigenous community in Cianjur Regency through YouTube demonstrates that digital media, particularly video-based platforms, play a strategic role in preserving, disseminating, and strengthening cultural identity amid the tide of modernization and dynamic religious developments. The presence of indigenous-based content on YouTube also opens up space for inclusive dialogue between older and younger generations, between traditional leaders and religious figures, as well as between local communities and the broader public.   Keywords: Indigenous People, Miduana Traditions, Stereotypes, YouTube.

Abstract

In the era of digitalization, business communication faces significant challenges in delivering messages that are effective, memorable, and capable of reaching diverse audiences. One increasingly relevant strategy is storytelling, a narrative approach that integrates rational and emotional aspects, making messages easier to understand, recall, and internalize. This study aims to explore the concept, elements, application, and impact of storytelling in modern business communication. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, complemented by academic literature review. The analysis reveals that storytelling functions not only as a tool for information delivery but also as a strategic means of building corporate identity, strengthening brand image, fostering trust, and creating emotional engagement with audiences. Findings emphasize that storytelling bridges the need for businesses to convey logical arguments while simultaneously appealing to the emotional dimension of their stakeholders. Consequently, storytelling emerges as a relevant, adaptive, and effective communication strategy in the digital era, offering substantial contributions to the long-term success of business communication practices.   Keywords: Storytelling, Business Communication, Corporate Identity, Engagement, Trust.

Abstract

Lipa’ sabbe (Bugis silk sarong) is a textile that has been designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Indonesia since 2016. The balo lobang motif visually has a very close connection with the sulapa’ eppa (four sides) philosophy, which represents cosmological balance in the Bugis worldview. This research aims to uncover the symbolic meaning of sulapa’ eppa in the balo lobang motif on Bugis lipa’ sabbe. This type of research uses an interpretative qualitative research method, which seeks to find meaning in a phenomenon to investigate issues related to specific individuals, thereby gaining direct insight into their activities. The results of this study found interpretations related to the perspectives of representamen, object, and interpretation. This research outlines that the semiotic approach is crucial for understanding cultural artifacts as tools for generating meaning. According to the findings of this research, symbolic meanings must be revived in cultural practices. Abstract

This study aims to explore how digital literacy functions as an empowerment process for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in enhancing business sustainability in the digital era. The rapid growth of digital transformation requires MSME actors not only to possess technical skills but also to interpret, manage, and strategically utilize digital information in their business activities. This research employs a qualitative approach using a phenomenological method to capture the experiences, meanings, and practices of digital literacy among MSME actors. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation with purposively selected informants. The findings reveal that digital literacy extends beyond technical competence, serving as an empowerment process that enhances individual capacity, self-confidence, creativity, and the ability to build relationships with customers. Furthermore, digital literacy enables MSME actors to be more adaptive to market changes, expand business networks, and develop innovative marketing communication strategies. The study also highlights that social, cultural, and resource access factors influence the level of digital literacy and business sustainability. Therefore, digital literacy emerges as a crucial element in strengthening the resilience and sustainability of MSMEs within the dynamic digital economy.   Keywords: Digital Literacy, Empowerment MSMEs, Business Sustainability, Marketing Communication

Abstract

This study examines the application of the humanitarian values ??of prophetic journalism in disaster reporting on the online media Radar Lampung Online. Using the Critical Discourse Analysis (AWK) approach modeled by Teun A. Van Dijk, this study analyzed six news texts published in November-December 2025. Aspects studied include macrostructure (topic/theme/title), superstructure (news scheme), microstructure (semantics, syntax, stylistics, rhetoric), and ideological representation through journalists language choices. The results show that humanitarian values ??(humanization) are present in all six news stories with varying degrees and forms. Journalists tend to use single sources from the government or authorities, position victims as passive objects, and construct disaster narratives from the perspective of the managers, not the managed. These findings indicate that the humanitarian values ??of prophetic journalism on Radar Lampung Online have been partially implemented: humanization is clearly manifested in the construction of the news, transcendence is present but not yet fully consistent, while liberation still needs to be strengthened so that the voices of affected communities can be better represented in the news narrative. This shows that Radar Lampung Online has attempted to apply humanitarian values ??in its reporting, but this application has not been carried out consistently and critically across all dimensions of prophetic journalism.   Keywords: Prophetic Journalism, Human Values, Critical Discourse Analysis, Online Media

Abstract

Short films have increasingly emerged as a prominent audiovisual medium within the international festival ecosystem due to their ability to convey issues and creative expression through concise narratives. In recent years, several Indonesian short films have received awards at various global festivals, indicating that the strength of narrative structure is one of the key factors driving such recognition. This study aims to analyze the application of Syd Field’s three-act narrative structure in three Indonesian award-winning short films, namely Laut Memanggilku (2021), Evakuasi Mama Emola (2022), and Basri & Salma in a Never-ending Comedy (2023). The research employs a qualitative method with a textual analysis approach, applying the three-act structure to map the plot, conflict development, and narrative dynamics within each film. The findings reveal that all three films continue to exhibit the stages of the three-act structure, albeit with variations in development patterns, duration, and plot distribution. These results affirm that Syd Field’s three-act structure is adaptive and flexible within the context of Indonesian’s short films. The difference in these proportions demonstrates that each film employs a unique way of positioning its social issues within the narrative structure. Abstract

This study aims to design a concept for producing a mini-series as a digital campaign for the Inclusive Campus program on Instagram Reels @ditjen_dikti and to analyze the application of the SOSTAC model in the production process, including the role of the producer. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants were selected through purposive sampling, involving students with disabilities at IPB University—Putri Najla Rasyidah and Rama Vijaya Jhowry—as well as institutional representatives serving as supporting sources. The results indicate that the campaign was produced in three episodes and distributed via Instagram Reels in collaboration with @ipbofficial. The SOSTAC model was systematically applied from planning through evaluation. The campaign employed a participant-driven storytelling approach, showcasing the real-life experiences of students with disabilities, reinforced by perspectives from the campus environment and their families. Evaluation results indicate that the message of an inclusive campus was conveyed consistently, although limitations remain regarding production flexibility, issue diversity, and audience engagement optimization. This study also demonstrates that digital media can effectively serve as a medium for conveying messages of inclusion to the broader public.
