Abstract

The persistent challenges facing elementary education in Indonesia—ranging from inadequacies in curriculum design and instructional delivery to inefficiencies in resource management—necessitate transformative school leadership. This study critically investigates the strategic role of principals in improving educational quality through the integrated implementation of seven core leadership functions: as educator, manager, administrator, supervisor, leader, innovator, and motivator. Employing a qualitative case study design in Kasihan District, Bantul Regency, data were obtained through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that effective principals drive curricular relevance and innovation, foster collaborative pedagogical planning, and promote the integration of educational technologies. Moreover, they facilitate continuous professional development, ensure transparent and efficient resource utilization, and nurture strong community engagement. The study concludes that school principals act as pivotal agents in cultivating adaptive, inclusive, and innovation-oriented learning environments. It recommends capacity-building programs for school leaders and teachers, enhanced governance mechanisms, and strengthened stakeholder partnerships. These insights contribute to both the practical discourse on educational leadership development and the broader theoretical understanding of strategic school governance within decentralized educational systems.

Abstract

The disruption era has significantly transformed gender roles in families, society, and professional sectors, presenting challenges in maintaining role balance while adhering to Islamic values. This study explores how Islamic holistic education can address these challenges by analyzing the concept’s role in fostering gender role harmony. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods, the research draws on library research, document analysis, and selective interviews with Islamic education practitioners. Content and thematic analysis were applied to examine classical texts and contemporary practices. Findings indicate that Islamic holistic education promotes a balanced and just gender role framework through the integration of spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social dimensions, fostering mutual respect and role complementarity between men and women. The study also highlights case examples, particularly from pesantren and community-based educational programs, which demonstrate practical implementation of gender-inclusive strategies. These programs empower both male and female learners to participate actively in leadership and decision-making, reflecting Sharia-compliant equality. Thus, the research contributes to theoretical developments in Islamic education and gender studies, while offering actionable strategies for educators and policymakers. Holistic Islamic education emerges as a viable and contextual solution to the evolving gender dynamics in the disruption era, bridging tradition with modern societal needs.

Abstract

This study investigates how Islamic education policies at Darush Sholihin 2 Islamic Boarding School are shaped by political, social, and cultural forces in a local context. While national regulations set standardized curricular and accreditation requirements, pesantren traditions and community expectations drive contextual adaptation. A qualitative case-study approach was used. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews with the kyai, bu nyai, teachers, and local education officials; non-participant observations of classes and dormitory life; and analysis of policy documents. Thematic coding and triangulation enhanced validity. Darush Sholihin 2 formally implements Ministry of Religious Affairs standards yet embeds regional wisdom—local language, artisanal crafts, and indigenous moral frameworks—into its pedagogy. Three key factors influence this implementation: (1) the kyai and bu nyai’s leadership in negotiating curriculum adaptations; (2) supportive yet flexible local government oversight; and (3) pressures to modernize through e-learning and standardized assessments, which prompt hybrid educational strategies. Findings reveal that policy enactment at Darush Sholihin 2 emerges from continuous negotiation among state authorities, religious leaders, and globalization pressures, rather than top-down imposition. This negotiated model strengthens cultural relevance, stakeholder engagement, and institutional resilience. For policymakers and pesantren administrators, granting structured flexibility enables innovation without compromising tradition.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of physical condition and concentration on short-serve performance in badminton among elementary school students. The research adopts a descriptive quantitative approach, involving two independent variables, physical condition and concentration, and one dependent variable, short-serve performance. The study was conducted in an elementary school setting with a population of all students, and simple random sampling technique using the lottery method was applied to select 30 students as sample. Data were analyzed using simple and multiple correlation techniques via SPSS, with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results reveal three key findings: (1) Physical condition has a statistically significant relationship with short-serve performance (r = 0.828; p < 0.05), accounting for 68.5% of the performance variation. (2) Concentration also shows a significant effect (r = 0.843; p < 0.05), contributing 71.1%. (3) When combined, physical condition and concentration have a significant joint contribution to short-serve performance (R = 0.871; p = 0.031 < 0.05), explaining 75.8% of the variance. The analysis indicates the probability of these results occurring by chance is low, and therefore, the influence of the variables is considered reliable and meaningful in a statistical sense. These findings highlight the importance of both physical readiness and mental focus in improving badminton skills at the elementary level. Future research is recommended to explore additional factors, such as coaching methods or motivation, that may also impact badminton performance, and to expand the study to a larger and more diverse student population.
