Abstract

Environmental hygiene conditions in rural areas of eastern Indonesia face complex challenges due to limited infrastructure and low community participation in environmental management. Baseline data in Nekmese Village shows that only 6.2% (20 out of 325 heads of families) are active in routine cleaning activities, while three strategic locations (village office, spring, and sports field) experience degradation in cleanliness quality that threatens public health. This study analyzes the effectiveness of socio-ecological interventions through the Clean Friday program based on the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach in improving environmental quality and strengthening social cohesion. Implementation was carried out for four weeks (April 9-29, 2025) involving 325 heads of families through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and systematic documentation. The results show a measurable increase in community participation from 20 participants (6.2%) in the first week to 50 participants (15.4%) in the fourth week, with a growth rate of 150% and statistical significance p0.05. Environmental quality evaluation using the Environmental Quality Index (EQI) showed an increase in scores from 2.1 to 3.8 (on a scale of 1-5) at all three target locations. These findings confirm the Social Learning Theory, which posits that collective participation can change environmental behavior through observational learning and social reinforcement. The practical contribution of this research lies in the development of a community-based intervention model that can be replicated in areas with similar geographic and socio-economic characteristics, particularly in the context of sustainable socio-ecological capacity development.

Abstract

AAF Hamlet, located in Paloh Lada Village, Dewantara Subdistrict, North Aceh, has an abundant supply of coconut husk waste. However, this waste has not been utilized optimally, leading to environmental pollution and the neglect of local economic potential. Through this community service initiative, the implementing team aimed to empower local residents by introducing and training them in the processing of coconut husk waste into cocopeat—a valuable and eco-friendly growing medium. The program was carried out in three main stages: an initial awareness session to provide basic understanding, technical training on processing coconut husks into cocopeat, and production mentoring to ensure the sustainability of acquired skills. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge and skills regarding coconut husk waste management. Moreover, the initiative sparked community interest in developing cocopeat as a new entrepreneurial opportunity The short-term impact included immediately applicable new skills, while the long-term impact involved the emergence of business opportunities that support household income and environmental conservation. These outcomes highlight the importance of waste processing based on local potential as an effective strategy for community empowerment and sustainable economic development.

Abstract

The low efficiency of services and lack of public information transparency at the village level remain key challenges in achieving good governance. These issues are generally caused by limited digital literacy and suboptimal data and information management. To address these challenges, this community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of Bojongsoang Village officials in using OpenSID, a village information system that supports transparency and accountability in public services. The program was carried out in three stages: pre-implementation (coordination and needs assessment), implementation (technical training on OpenSID usage), and post-implementation (evaluation and follow-up assistance). The results showed an improvement in the officials' skills in operating the village information system, along with enhancements in administrative service quality. Strengthening digital capacity through a participatory approach has proven to be effective in supporting the realization of more effective, transparent, and accountable village governance.

Abstract

Naimata Village Office Apparatus currently, there is a gap between the low competence of apparatus related to regional government innovation and the demands of implementing one innovation model in the implementation of public services. Therefore, a program is needed to increase the capacity of regional governments, including Village or Sub-district Governments. Community service activities through socialization and assistance of regional innovation technology at the Naimata Village Office, Kupang City, aim to increase the competence of apparatus in innovating in the field of public services. The method of implementing the activity begins with a situation analysis to map existing conditions, preparation, implementation of activities through material presentation, and interactive discussions, and ends with an evaluation. The results of the activity showed an increase in insight and knowledge of apparatus related to regional innovation. This can be measured from the understanding of regulations, definitions, types and models of regional government innovation, so that the leadership of the Naimata Village Office decided to choose digital-based population administration innovation. As a follow-up, it was agreed that periodic assistance would be provided for the implementation of the population administration service innovation.

Abstract

This community service program focuses on enhancing the product capability of MSME Wak Ijah. The business faces challenges in its product packaging process, which is still carried out manually using low-quality sealing, resulting in easily damaged product contents and shorter shelf life. In addition, its product marketing is still limited to the Malang area. The methods implemented in this program include training and mentoring through the application of a Continuous Nitrogen Sealer machine, digital marketing training, and the development of product nutrition labeling. The results show a significant improvement in production capacity and product quality, particularly in extending shelf life. To ensure the sustainability of this program’s impact, further mentoring on marketing strategies is required so that the training provided can be consistently and optimally applied in business management.

Abstract

Early exposure to unethical accounting practices risks normalizing data manipulation, so instilling honesty from an early age is important. This community service program employs Brain-Based Learning (BBL) to strengthen students' integrity through the 4P model (Preparation, Implementation, Closure, Reporting) by incorporating neuroscience-based activities such as brain gym, gamification, reflective discussions, and parental involvement. The results are highly significant: students' understanding of integrity increased from 32% to 89%, 76% of students reported a shift in their perspective on ethical dilemmas, and parents shifted their focus from academic performance to character development, forming a support community named “Parents Concerned About Integrity.” The BBL approach has proven to create optimal cognitive conditions for internalizing the value of honesty and reducing the risk of accounting data misuse. Program outputs include modular learning packages, teacher training syllabi, parent support group tools, and the establishment of integrity champions to expand reach and sustainability. This combination of policies and products is expected to institutionalize integrity education and reduce the risk of accounting data misuse.
