Abstract

Students’ limited understanding of the human organ systems indicates the need for teaching materials that meet the requirements of fifth-grade elementary school IPAS learning. This study aims to develop teaching materials on human organ systems integrating comics and QR codes, covering the human respiratory, digestive, and circulatory systems. This study employed the Research and Development method using the ADDIE model, limited to the analysis, design, and development stages. The teaching material product was validated by two content and language experts and two presentation and graphics experts. The research data were obtained through interviews to analyze the needs of fifth-grade teachers and students, while the data collection instruments included interview guidelines, validation questionnaires, and documentation. The findings show that the teaching materials obtained validity scores of 0.93 for the content aspect, 1.00 for the language aspect, 0.95 for the presentation aspect, and 0.91 for the graphics aspect, all of which were classified as highly valid. Based on these validation results, the teaching materials on human organ systems integrating comics and QR codes were declared suitable for use as a learning resource in fifth-grade elementary school IPAS learning. These findings indicate that the integration of comics and QR codes can produce teaching materials that meet content, language, presentation, and graphics feasibility standards and can be used as an alternative learning resource for human organ systems material.

Abstract

The flash floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra demonstrate that hydrometeorological disasters are not solely natural phenomena but also cumulative consequences of upstream ecological degradation, including deforestation and peatland damage, compounded by governance failures. This study aims to analyze these disasters through a maqāṣidī interpretation of the Qur’anic story of Pharaoh to reveal the normative and political dimensions of leadership negligence. Employing a qualitative literature-based method, the study conducted hermeneutic analysis, thematic identification, and synthesis of primary and secondary sources concerning Qur’anic narratives, ecological conditions, and disaster policies. The findings reveal three principal points. First, “Pharaohistic” patterns of leadership, characterized by absolutism, the normalization of structural violence, and narrative manipulation, are reflected in political decisions that disregard public safety. Second, delays in declaring national disaster status aggravated emergency response and contributed to secondary fatalities by constraining the mobilization of resources and essential services. Third, effective disaster prevention and recovery require the integration of evidence-based ecological interventions, including upstream ecosystem restoration, a moratorium on land conversion, and peatland management, with policy reform, institutional accountability, and local community participation. The study concludes that disaster mitigation and reconstruction should be situated within the framework of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, particularly ḥifẓ al-nafs, as a normative benchmark for governmental legitimacy and responsibility. Without structural ecological and governance reforms, similar disasters are likely to recur. These findings contribute to ecological Islamic studies by connecting Qur’anic narratives of oppressive leadership with contemporary disaster governance and imply the need for risk-based emergency declarations, upstream ecosystem rehabilitation, and transparent accountability mechanisms.

Abstract

Although Qur’anic education within the family has been widely studied, research specifically examining methods of Qur’anic education for developing children’s character amid genocide, particularly among families in Gaza, Palestine, remains limited. This study aims to analyze the methods of Qur’anic education implemented within Gazan families and their contribution to the development of Qur’anic character and children’s spiritual-social resilience amid prolonged conflict. This study employed a qualitative approach with a library research design. Data were collected through the documentation of journal articles, books, reports from international organizations, and relevant literature and were then analyzed using content analysis. The results showed that Qur’anic education within Gazan families was implemented holistically through parental role modelling, the habituation of reading and memorizing the Qur’an, and the internalization of Qur’anic values in daily life, reinforced by the roles of mosques, halaqah tahfiz, and community support. The use of Arabic as the mother tongue also supported the process of understanding and memorizing the Qur’an. Qur’anic education functioned not only as a means of transmitting religious knowledge but also as a coping mechanism for conflict-related trauma and a foundation for developing a generation that is resilient, patient, morally upright, and characterized by Qur’anic values. This study concludes that family-based Qur’anic education plays an important role in developing children’s spiritual resilience and character amid a humanitarian crisis. Theoretically, these findings expand the study of Islamic education, character education, and Qur’anic education in conflict contexts, while practically, they can serve as a basis for families, Islamic educational institutions, humanitarian organizations, and policymakers in designing adaptive educational models for children in conflict-affected areas.

Abstract

Although character education through religious habituation has been widely implemented in Islamic schools, studies specifically examining the development of generous character through the habituation of infaq and sadaqah at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah level remain limited. This study aims to describe the process of developing students’ generous character through the habituation of infaq and sadaqah and to identify its supporting and inhibiting factors at MTsN 7 Pasaman Barat. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive field research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation from March to April 2026, involving the madrasah principal, homeroom teachers, Akidah Akhlak teachers, Fiqh teachers, Islamic Cultural History teachers, and eighth-grade students as informants. The data were analyzed thematically following the stages proposed by Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification, while data validity was examined through source, method, and time triangulation. The results showed that students’ generous character was developed through five interrelated efforts: exemplary conduct by the madrasah principal and teachers, habituation through direct experience, the inculcation of generosity values, the provision of appreciation, and parental involvement. Supporting factors included the commitment of the madrasah principal and teachers, well-planned and sustainable madrasah programs, the availability of facilities, and parental support. Inhibiting factors included program management that had not yet been optimally systematized and students’ intrinsic awareness that had not fully developed. This study concludes that the habituation of infaq and sadaqah, when implemented in a structured and consistent manner and supported by exemplary conduct and parental involvement, can strengthen the development of students’ generous character. Theoretically, these findings extend the application of social learning and moral action theories within the context of Islamic philanthropy in madrasahs, while practically, they provide a basis for madrasah leaders to design more systematic, measurable, and sustainable habituation programs. Future research is recommended to involve a broader range of participants and employ long-term evaluation instruments.

Abstract

Arabic language learning in Madrasah Aliyah continues to face challenges in the form of low active participation among female students and limited variation in learning media, which affect learning motivation. This condition necessitates the use of technology-based media capable of creating interactive, engaging, and enjoyable learning, one of which is Kahoot. This study aims to describe the process of implementing Kahoot in Arabic language learning, identify female students’ responses to its use, and analyze its impact on the learning motivation of Class XI-B female students at Madrasah Aliyah Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects were Class XI-B female students at Madrasah Aliyah Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Jombang. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of Kahoot created a more active, interactive, and conducive Arabic language learning environment. The female students demonstrated greater enthusiasm and engagement as well as increased motivation to learn. The use of Kahoot also had a positive impact on learning motivation, as indicated by increased attention, participation, self-confidence, and perseverance among the female students during the learning process. This study concludes that Kahoot can be used as an interactive learning medium to increase motivation in learning Arabic. These findings provide practical implications for teachers in developing technology-based learning that is more participatory, engaging, and appropriate to the characteristics of students in Madrasah Aliyah.

Abstract

Although the moral degradation of younger generations in the digital era has received considerable scholarly attention, research examining how non-formal Islamic educational institutions can optimize their role in strengthening community spirituality remains limited. This study aimed to holistically examine the instillation of Islamic educational values at the Kafilul Yatim Qur’an House in Bangun Rejo Village. A qualitative approach was employed using primary data collected through structured non-participant observation, documentation, and structured interviews with educators, orphaned and non-orphaned students, and members of the fathers’ religious study group. The findings indicate that Islamic educational values were effectively transmitted across three learning domains: cognitive development through tajwid literacy, affective development through habituation based on Akhlāq lil Banīn, and psychomotor development through worship simulations. These values were instilled through an integrated combination of habituation, demonstration, storytelling and advice, expository lectures, oral assessment, and educational sanctions (tarhib). The study concludes that the effectiveness of non-formal Islamic education depends on the balanced integration of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions within value-oriented learning practices. This study contributes to the development of non-formal Islamic education by providing a conceptual and practical basis for reconstructing out-of-school religious curricula and fostering a Qur’anic family ecosystem within the community.

Abstract

Prophetic leadership offers an ethical framework for addressing contemporary leadership challenges, yet its contextual relevance to Indonesian society requires further scholarly examination. This study aimed to analyze Hamka’s interpretation of Prophet Muhammad’s leadership in Tafsir Al-Azhar, with particular emphasis on Surah Ali ‘Imran verse 159, identify the leadership values reflected in the Prophet’s exemplary conduct, and examine their relevance to leadership in Indonesia. The study employed a literature review method using a contextual thematic exegesis approach. The findings indicate that Surah Ali ‘Imran verse 159 emphasizes gentleness and consultation as fundamental principles of leadership. Gentleness is interpreted as a manifestation of Allah’s mercy that strengthens emotional bonds and softens the hearts of followers, whereas consultation represents an inclusive and participatory principle of decision-making. The analysis further identifies trustworthiness, justice, and exemplary conduct as essential characteristics of Prophet Muhammad’s leadership. These values remain highly relevant to contemporary Indonesian leadership because their implementation can promote inclusive decision-making, social harmony, justice, and public welfare. The study concludes that prophetic leadership provides a normative and practical framework for developing ethical, participatory, and welfare-oriented leadership. This study contributes to Islamic leadership scholarship by contextualizing Hamka’s interpretation and demonstrating the applicability of prophetic leadership values to contemporary governance and social leadership in Indonesia.

Abstract

Studies of the novel Hati Suhita have thus far focused primarily on themes of women, pesantren life, and Islamic character education, whereas analyses based on Imam Al-Ghazali’s educational thought, particularly concerning patience (sabr), intention (niyyah), and sincerity (ikhlas), remain limited. This study aims to analyze the representation of Islamic educational values in the form of patience, intention, and sincerity in Khilma Anis’s novel Hati Suhita from the perspective of Imam Al-Ghazali. The study employed a qualitative approach with a library research design. The primary data source was the novel Hati Suhita, while Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din was used as the principal theoretical foundation. The data were analyzed qualitatively by identifying and interpreting the representations of these three values in the novel. The findings indicate that Hati Suhita represents Islamic education as a process of moral and spiritual formation rather than merely the transmission of religious knowledge. Patience is portrayed through the ability to control one’s desires, manage emotions, and maintain steadfastness in facing life’s trials. Intention functions as an inner orientation that determines the moral and spiritual value of an action, while sincerity is represented as a process of purifying the heart from ego and worldly interests that leads individuals toward spiritual maturity. These three values are interconnected and form a comprehensive framework of Islamic education through character strengthening, self-discipline, and spiritual refinement in accordance with Imam Al-Ghazali’s thought. The findings of this study broaden the scope of Islamic education studies by affirming the role of literary works as a medium for internalizing moral and spiritual values. Practically, this study supports the use of literary works in learning to strengthen character education based on Islamic values and opens opportunities for developing studies of Islamic educational thought in other literary works.

Abstract

The growing dissemination of Qur’anic interpretation through digital platforms has expanded public access to Islamic scholarship; however, the hermeneutical characteristics and socio-legal relevance of orally delivered interpretations of legal verses remain insufficiently examined. This study aimed to analyze the interpretive methods employed by KH Ahmad Bahauddin Nursalim (Gus Baha) in his oral exegesis of aḥkām verses on the Santri Gayeng YouTube channel and to assess their relevance to contemporary family ethics and religious education. The study employed qualitative library research with a case-study approach. Recorded exegesis sessions were transcribed and analyzed thematically using relevant literature on tafsīr, uṣūl al-fiqh, and religious pedagogy. The findings indicate that Gus Baha employs a communicative hermeneutical approach characterized by the clarity of tafsīr bi al-lisān, thematic concision associated with the mawḍūʿī method, and a balanced integration of tafsīr bi al-maʾthūr and raʾy. This approach prioritizes accessibility and ethical persuasion for non-specialist Indonesian audiences. His interpretation of marriage-related verses emphasizes honoring wives and children as religious obligations, promoting affectionate and trust-based child-rearing grounded in prophetic exemplarity, and contextualizing prohibitions concerning dowry reclamation and unlawful marriages within the socioeconomic realities of historical Arabian society. His interpretation also foregrounds maqāṣid and intention in advancing rehabilitative marital ethics. These findings demonstrate that Gus Baha’s oral exegesis effectively translates textual authority into accessible, family-centered moral guidance with potential relevance to religious education and social policy. Nevertheless, caution is required regarding claims of naskh and mansūkh and the limited capacity of concise, anecdotal exposition to address structural concerns such as patriarchy and unequal household power relations. This study contributes to contemporary Qur’anic hermeneutics by elucidating the pedagogical and socio-legal significance of digital oral exegesis and provides a foundation for empirical and juridical research on its influence on household practices, legal interpretation, and curriculum development.

Abstract

Empiricism constitutes a major branch of epistemological philosophy that emphasizes observation, experimentation, induction, and verification as foundations of knowledge; however, its relationship with scientific development in the classical Islamic world requires further systematic examination. This study analyzes the principles of empiricism and their contribution to the advancement of science and technology in the classical Islamic intellectual tradition. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical library research design, the study examines primary texts by Western empiricist philosophers, Qur’anic and hadith-based epistemological sources, and the works of classical Muslim scholars, supported by relevant secondary literature. The findings indicate that the core principles of empiricism were reflected in the scientific practices of Ibn al-Haytham, Al-Biruni, Jabir ibn Hayyan, Al-Razi, Ibn Sina, and other Muslim scholars. Their contributions to optics, astronomy, chemistry, medicine, and mathematics demonstrate a systematic reliance on observation, experimentation, and empirical verification rather than speculative reasoning alone. The analysis further shows that Islamic epistemology provides a compatible foundation for empirical inquiry by integrating revelation, reason, and sensory experience. This synthesis enabled Muslim scholars to develop a distinctive scientific tradition characterized by methodological rigor and spiritual orientation. The study concludes that the historical legacy of Islamic empiricism offers a relevant framework for revitalizing contemporary science and technology in the Muslim world. Its principal contribution lies in demonstrating that the renewed application of observation, experimentation, and critical verification within an Islamic epistemological framework may strengthen scientific development while maintaining ethical and theological coherence.
