Abstract

The 2025 Community Service Program (KKN) of UIN Sumatera Utara in Dogang Village, Langkat Regency, aimed to increase adolescents’ awareness of nutrition and reproductive health through education on stunting and the prevention of risky behaviors. This activity applied the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) approach, which emphasizes active involvement of participants. The preparation stage included coordination with the school, development of educational modules, and preparation of learning media such as slides and videos. The implementation involved MTs Al-Mu’min students in grades VII–IX through short lectures, group discussions, and role play to simulate real-life situations such as choosing nutritious food or refusing risky social interactions. Evaluation was conducted through oral questions and participant reflection. The results showed an improvement in adolescents’ understanding of stunting which was previously perceived only as a height issue as well as increased awareness of the risks of promiscuity. Students demonstrated enthusiasm and active participation, as reflected in critical questions and positive responses from both teachers and peers. This activity indicates that PLA is an effective educational method within the KKN program of UIN Sumatera Utara, not only in transferring knowledge but also in fostering critical awareness and adolescents’ skills in making healthy decisions.

Abstract

Suka Ndebi Village, Naman Teran District, Karo Regency, is a village located in the highlands at the foot of Mount Sinabung. Although 88% of its residents work as farmers, not all residents own their own agricultural land. It was recorded that 25% of the residents do not own their own land and work as salaried farmers, so the community’s economic level is classified as lower-middle class. Through the Community Service Program (KKN), the team discovered another untapped economic potential: honey bee cultivation. One villager has successfully cultivated honey independently and shown quite promising results. This Prompted the KKN team to conduct observations and analysis regarding the potential for developing honey cultivation as an alternative or additional source of income for the village community. This study aims to explore the extent to which honey cultivation can be a sustainable economic solution amidst limited agricultural land ownership. The methods used included field observations, interviews with residents and village officials, and literature review related to honey cultivation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze marketing improvement efforts through a rebranding strategy for the Abang Sabri Palm Sugar MSME in Pertumbukan Village. The research method used was a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the implementation of rebranding included improvements to packaging design, the creation of a logo and brand identity, and enhancements to digital media-based promotional strategies. These efforts were able to improve product image, expand marketing reach, and increase consumer interest in palm sugar products. Barriers faced included limited capital and knowledge of digital marketing among MSMEs. In conclusion, rebranding is an effective strategy to increase the competitiveness of the Abang Sabri Palm Sugar MSME, but ongoing support and mentoring are needed to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

The development of digital technology encourages MSMEs to adapt through social media-based marketing strategies and strengthening their visual identity. This study aims to analyze the role of visual identity and social media as digital marketing instruments in MSME development, using a case study of Warung Ibu Marni in Simalungun. The method used is descriptive qualitative through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that a consistent visual identity strengthens brand image, while social media effectively expands promotion and interaction with consumers. The integration of the two increases business visibility, customer networks, and the sustainable growth of MSMEs. Thus, visual identity and social media are proven to be important strategies for MSMEs to increase competitiveness in the digital era and can serve as practical references for the development of similar businesses. Furthermore, this study also confirms that MSMEs that utilize uniform logo designs, packaging, and social media displays are able to build consumer trust. Social media functions not only as a promotional tool but also as a communication channel that allows for direct feedback from customers. This provides opportunities for MSMEs to innovate according to market needs. This implementation strategy also supports increasing digital literacy among small business owners to be more adaptive to changes in consumer behavior. Thus, the collaboration between visual branding aspects and digital platforms becomes a strong foundation for the sustainable growth of MSMEs.

They understood that the use of QRIS could facilitate more practical, secure, and transparent transactions, as well as assist with business financial management. Meanwhile, the use of Google Maps was deemed effective in increasing business visibility, expanding market reach, and building consumer trust through address features, photos, and customer reviews. The implementation of the activities ran smoothly without significant obstacles, supported by adequate devices and internet access. Overall, this KKN activity succeeded in increasing the knowledge and awareness of UMKM actors regarding the importance of business digitalization, so it is hoped that it can strengthen competitiveness and support local economic growth in Telaga Jernih Village.

Abstract

The Real Work Lecture (KKN) program is carried out with the aim of empowering the people of Dolat Rayat Village through hand soap production activities as an effort to improve health while providing sustainable economic added value. The main problem faced by the community is the low awareness of the importance of clean living behaviors and the limited alternative sources of income available in the surrounding environment. This activity includes health counseling on hand hygiene, training on making simple hand soap, packaging assistance, and creative and innovative product marketing strategies. KKN students also provide education about the importance of cleanliness to prevent infectious diseases in the household and school environment. The results of the activity show that the community not only understands the urgency of maintaining hand hygiene, but is also able to develop soap production skills as a sustainable household business opportunity. This program makes a dual contribution, namely increasing awareness of healthy living while opening up opportunities for local economic growth. Thus, this activity proves that the integration of health and the creative economy can be implemented effectively through community empowerment.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of religious moderation through the Community Service Program (KKN) by UINSU students in Susuk Village, Tiganderket Subdistrict, Karo Regency. Religious moderation is seen as a strategic response to radicalism, intolerance, and exclusivism, particularly in rural areas with limited access to religious literacy. Using a qualitative case study with a constructivist paradigm, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The analysis employed the Miles and Huberman model with triangulation of sources, methods, and time. Findings show that religious moderation was implemented through educational, religious, and social activities, such as teaching, literacy promotion, anti-bullying campaigns, Quranic recitation, religious study groups (wirid), health services (posyandu), and MSME empowerment. Key supporters included village officials, religious leaders, schools, and community members. Challenges included limited facilities, short program duration, and differing community perceptions of moderation. The KKN program significantly impacted students by enhancing social competence and practical understanding of religious moderation, while also fostering tolerance, moderate religious education, and social cohesion in the community. This demonstrates that KKN is an effective tool for promoting wasathiyah Islamic values at the grassroots level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the digitalization program for business location registration on Google Maps as a form of digital education integration and strengthening the creative economy in Timbang Lawan Village. The background of this research departs from the low public understanding of the use of digital technology for local business development, which has an impact on the limited market reach, promotion, and competitiveness of MSMEs. The method used in community service is Participatory Action Research (PAR). The PAR method was chosen because it emphasizes active collaboration between researchers and the community so that the resulting solutions are more in line with local needs and can be applied sustainably. The results of the activity show that there is an increase in digital literacy among business actors, especially in the use of digital maps for promotion. Based on documentation, observations, and interviews, a number of MSMEs have successfully registered their business locations on Google Maps, verified by Google, and have begun to receive benefits in the form of increased business visibility, customer numbers, and opportunities for product development and wider business networks at the regional level.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a public health challenge in Indonesia, including in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra. The Community Service Program (KKN) of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) collaborated with Posyandu cadres in Tambun Sungkean Village to prevent stunting through a participatory education program. Implementation methods included anthropometric measurements, providing nutritious food made from local ingredients, and counseling on parenting and balanced nutrition for mothers of toddlers. The results of the activity showed that optimizing the role of Posyandu not only improved monitoring of child growth and development but also strengthened community awareness of the importance of nutrition and parenting. Education based on nutritious cooking demonstrations and the use of local foods was able to change the perception of mothers of toddlers that healthy food does not have to be expensive. Furthermore, the nutrition awareness community movement succeeded in increasing maternal participation in Posyandu activities and routine counseling. Thus, the collaboration between KKN students and Posyandu cadres has proven effective in fostering collective awareness and serving as a model for community-based interventions that support strategies to accelerate stunting reduction at the village level.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) implemented in Pematang Kasih Village, Pantai Cermin District, focused on empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the implementation of business unit registration on Google Maps as a local promotion strategy. The main problems faced by MSMEs in this village are limited access to digital promotion, low technological mastery, and lack of business visibility in the online realm. The method used was participatory action based on technical assistance, where students acted as facilitators and direct assistants at every stage of the activity. The implementation process began with the socialization stage of the importance of business digitalization, identification of MSME potential, technical training on creating a Google My Business account, and direct practice of registering a business on Google Maps. All stages were carried out collaboratively by involving MSME owners so that they could independently manage their business profiles after the mentoring ended. The program results showed a significant increase in the number of MSMEs registered on Google Maps, an increase in business actors' understanding of digital promotion strategies, and the emergence of a collective awareness of the importance of technology adaptation in village economic development. Thus, registering MSMEs on Google Maps can be an effective, inexpensive, and sustainable local promotion strategy in expanding marketing reach while increasing the competitiveness of village MSMEs.
