Abstract

Processing used cooking oil into solid laundry soap is an effective solution to reduce environmental pollution while increasing the added value of household waste. On July 25, 2025, a training was held in Banjaran Cengklik Hamlet, Cukilan Village, Suruh District, Semarang Regency, with participants from the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) women. The activity aimed to provide education on the dangers of used cooking oil for health and the environment, training in soap processing skills, and encouraging the application of the 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The methods used included counseling, sweetening, and hands-on practice. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge and skills in utilizing used cooking oil into ready-to-use products, which have the potential to be developed as a household business. This training contributed to family economic empowerment and increased public awareness of sustainable waste management. This training also opened up opportunities for participants to develop micro-enterprises based on environmentally friendly waste management. With the new skills acquired, PKK women can start their own production of solid laundry soap, which not only reduces hazardous waste but also increases family income. Ongoing support from relevant parties, such as the provision of raw materials, product marketing, and ongoing training, will further strengthen the program's success. Furthermore, increased public awareness of the importance of used cooking oil waste management is expected to foster a broader environmental culture in the region. This success can also serve as a model for other villages implementing similar programs, allowing for a broader positive impact. With an integrated approach, used cooking oil waste management can become an integral part of a sustainable development strategy at the local level.

Abstract

Adherence to antiretroviral (ARV) medication is a crucial factor in the success of HIV/AIDS patient therapy. Adherence levels are often low due to a lack of knowledge, motivation, and support. Audiovisual and tutorial-based education is considered capable of improving patient understanding, thereby encouraging medication adherence. This community service activity aims to provide education to HIV/AIDS patients through audiovisual and tutorial media, and to assess its effectiveness on medication adherence. This community service is an implementation using the quasi-experimental method with 36 participants from a total population of 40 people. Data were processed statistically with SPSS and using the Wilcoxon test. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests and was participatory during the activity. The results of the activity showed an increase in patient understanding of ARVs, as well as increased medication adherence after being given educational interventions at the Bandarharjo Community Health Center. The results of the activity carried out with audiovisual and tutorial-based educational media showed an increase in knowledge of 92% of 36 patients after being given audiovisual and tutorial education, Medication Adherence; Before the intervention, almost 100% of patients were non-compliant with ARV medication. After the educational intervention, this increased to 92%. Patients reported feeling more motivated and understanding the material more easily through audiovisuals compared to traditional lectures. Tutorials helped them gain confidence in managing their medication schedules. Based on the analysis using the Wilcoxon test, a p-value of 0.000 indicates that the treatment or intervention significantly improved patient adherence to ARV treatment. Audiovisual and tutorial-based education has been proven effective in improving medication adherence in HIV/AIDS patients. This method can be used as an educational intervention strategy in community health centers and hospitals to improve the quality of care for HIV/AIDS patients.

Abstract

The potential of rural women weavers in the Sabumi Group in Pagatan, Tanah Bumbu Regency, is highly significant, particularly in the villages of Manurung, Mundalang, and Saring. Among a total of 67 weavers, 63 are women, highlighting the dominant role of women in preserving and developing the traditional Pagatan weaving craft. This community service program aims to establish a Pagatan weaving business incubator through the formation of a youth group that functions as a center for training, production, and business development for women’s weaving communities. Additionally, the program seeks to create a digital platform for promoting and marketing Pagatan woven products through social media and online marketplaces. The implementation involved several stages, including mapping the complete network of weaving actors, conducting a SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and providing training on digital marketing strategies. Furthermore, activities included content creation, product digitalization, and the establishment of a shared marketplace account to expand the market reach of woven products. One of the key achievements was the formation of the Kelompok Tenun Muda Majang Kaluku, consisting of 20 young weavers from Manurung and Mundalang villages. This group is expected to play a vital role in sustaining the weaving tradition while introducing modern business and marketing practices. Overall, this initiative demonstrates that integrating traditional skills with digital marketing innovation can enhance economic empowerment for rural women, foster cultural preservation, and strengthen local creative economies in Tanah Bumbu Regency.

Abstract

This community engagement program, conducted by lecturers from Universitas Pamulang, aimed to enhance digital media literacy among students at SMK Manggala Tangerang in response to the growing challenges of social media consumption and content creation in the digital age. Recognizing the high usage of social platforms among youth—often without adequate literacy or ethical awareness—the program employed a participatory, practice-based, and reflective approach. Training materials covered essential topics such as identifying hoaxes, protecting digital privacy, developing personal branding, and understanding online communication ethics. The methods applied included interactive lectures, group discussions, and hands-on exercises that encouraged active participation and critical reflection. The evaluation process involved observation, questionnaires, and interviews, which revealed significant improvements in students’ understanding of media literacy principles and a shift toward more critical and responsible digital behavior. Students reported increased confidence in filtering online information, managing their digital identities, and engaging more ethically on social media platforms. Furthermore, the program fostered a sense of awareness regarding the broader societal impact of digital communication, particularly in preventing misinformation and promoting constructive online interactions. Overall, the results demonstrate that practical, reflective training can effectively bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and students’ lived digital experiences, fostering both ethical and critical digital character. These findings highlight the importance of integrating media literacy into school curricula as part of character education, especially to address the specific needs and challenges faced by Generation Z in navigating the complexities of the digital era.

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 requires human resources who are not only technically competent but also capable of adapting to the rapidly changing dynamics of professional life. This transformation demands strong job readiness from vocational school graduates (SMK), as they are prepared to directly enter the industrial world. Students of Muhammadiyah 1 Vocational School in Gresik are an important target of this community service program, as their job readiness is a key factor in facing the intense competition in the era of industrial modernization. The main objective of this activity is to evaluate the effectiveness of personality development training in improving students’ job readiness. The training does not only focus on technical skills but also emphasizes soft skills such as communication, discipline, teamwork, and critical thinking. Through this approach, students are expected to gain a dual advantage: strong vocational expertise as well as a personality built on integrity. In addition, this activity examines the application of a positive discipline approach as an alternative to traditional disciplinary practices that often result in negative consequences, such as decreased learning motivation and weakened relationships between teachers and students. Positive discipline is considered more effective in shaping character because it emphasizes appreciation, responsibility, and self-awareness rather than punishment alone. This program applies a qualitative descriptive method, using observation, interviews, and analysis of students’ behavioral changes after participating in the training. The findings indicate that personality development training, combined with the application of positive discipline, significantly impacts students’ job readiness. They become more confident in facing the challenges of the workforce while also demonstrating improved discipline, independence, and integrity. In conclusion, personality development training and positive discipline are proven to be effective strategies in preparing young generations to comprehensively face the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0..

Abstract

Flooding in the Tembalang area, particularly around the Gambir River, is a recurring problem every year. This problem is primarily caused by an increase in water discharge that is not balanced with the physical condition of the river, which is experiencing narrowing and silting. Furthermore, the presence of a bridge on Jalan Bulusari also exacerbates the situation because its construction impedes the smooth flow of water. This obstacle is further exacerbated when garbage accumulates and becomes stuck under the bridge, resulting in overflows that inundate the surrounding area. Various self-help efforts have been undertaken by the community, including submitting proposals for bridge reconstruction to relevant agencies, but have not yet produced a tangible impact. This community service activity adopted a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, involving the community directly in the planning, decision-making, and implementation of flood mitigation solutions. The main proposed solution is bridge reconstruction to increase river flow capacity and minimize water flow obstructions. As a supporting measure, a sensor-based water level monitoring system has been installed to serve as an early warning for local residents. Furthermore, a waste sorting program has been implemented, providing separate bins for plastic bottles and paper to reduce the potential for river blockages. This participatory approach is expected to not only increase the effectiveness of flood mitigation, but also strengthen community preparedness and resilience to disasters, while providing examples of model solutions that can be replicated in other areas with similar conditions.

Abstract

Bogor Regency is located in West Java, has 40 sub-districts covering 416 villages and 19 urban villages. One of the sub-districts in Bogor Regency is Ciomas District. Ciomas is 3 km from the zero point of Bogor which is located in front of City Hall, making Ciomas the only sub-district that is most strategic and closest to the city center compared to other sub-districts. One of the Vocational High Schools (SMK) located in Ciomas is SMK Negeri 1 Ciomas. SMK Negeri 1 Ciomas is the only superior school in the area with the status of a public school. One of the problems in this sub-district is traffic jams due to the large number of public transportation (angkot) and Ciomas itself is the smallest and most densely populated sub-district in Bogor Regency. This study aims to test the effectiveness of media in providing location reference directions to residents of Bogor Regency and Bogor City. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-test and post-test method, with the media used in the form of video. The research produced a video instrument titled "Video of Directions to SMK Negeri 1 Ciomas." The results showed a change in respondents' attitudes after watching the video

Abstract

Organic waste is one of the major contributors to environmental problems in rural areas, particularly when it is not properly managed. Bantarsari Village, located in a rural setting, has a high potential for organic materials, yet most of these resources remain underutilized. The Community Service Program (KKN) Group 28 of Universitas Subang aimed to address this issue by introducing a sustainable waste management solution—turning household organic waste into compost. This initiative was designed to reduce environmental impact, promote eco-friendly practices, and foster community engagement. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method with field observation techniques to evaluate each stage of the program. These stages included community socialization, collection of organic materials such as food scraps and dry leaves, composting using EM4 activators, and monitoring the composting process until it was ready for use. The findings revealed that compost could be produced within 3 to 4 weeks, with numerous benefits, including improved soil fertility, reduced reliance on chemical fertilizers, a decrease in the volume of household organic waste, and the creation of economic opportunities through compost utilization and sales. Additionally, the program raised awareness in the community about the importance of independent, sustainable organic waste management practices. The collaboration between students and the local community proved successful in developing a simple, innovative solution that provided ecological, economic, and social benefits for rural areas
