Hippocampus: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (e-ISSN 2830-7968 and p-ISSN 2961-7138) was published in 2022 by the Center for Research and Community Service (P3M) of the Sambas State Polytechnic. This journal publishes community service results, especially in Agrocomplex (Fisheries and Marine, Animal Husbandry, Forestry, Agriculture, Plantations, and Food) carried out by lecturers, students, other academic circles, and public parties. The purpose of this journal is to disseminate conceptual thinking ideas and ideas from community service activities in the field of agrocomplex and food both in the form of scope which includes counseling, training, socialization, entrepreneurship, education, and training, as well as community empowerment. It is published 2 times in June and December every year.

<![CDATA[World Health Organization (WHO), around 190 million children still experience vitamin A deficiency in pre-school children, especially in Southeast Asia and Africa. WHO recommends giving vitamin A supplements regularly, including in Indonesia. Providing vitamin A supplements for children aged 6-59 months has proven to be useful for preventing infections, diseases (such as ARI, measles and diarrhea), increasing body resistance. The aim of this community service is to increase mothers' understanding of giving vitamin A to toddlers. Before providing information, the mother's knowledge about administering vitamin A will be identified through a pre-test. Next, the material is given and the post-test is carried out again. This activity was carried out in Gunung Pangilun sub-district, Padang City on October 15 2023. The target of this activity is mothers who have 38 toddlers. The expected result of this service activity is increased cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills regarding giving vitamin A to toddlers. The method used is education or providing material by distributing leaflets about vitamin A for toddlers. Implementation stages include preparation, implementation and evaluation. The community service team involved are experts in the field of public health who are experienced in their field. The results of the service showed that knowledge and understanding of giving vitamin A increased by 80%. So it is hoped that there will be regular education about giving vitamin A so that the coverage of giving vitamin A is optimal to improve the health status of children under five.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this service program is to provide information and empower the community through dissemination in the form of environmentally friendly agricultural technology extension activities in the hope of increasing food crop production in a sustainable manner. Lampulung Village is one of the villages that has the potential for extensive agricultural land, but the community still dominantly uses chemical fertilizers which have a negative impact on the environment. Therefore, we took the initiative to carry out this counseling activity because Lampulung Village has a very abundant water hyacinth (Eichornia crassipes) population. The potential of water hyacinth as an environmentally friendly liquid fertilizer has a nutrient content that is more easily absorbed by plants, and the manufacturing process can be made in a relatively short time at a relatively low cost. The method used in this service is counseling. Where this activity is carried out through 3 stages, namely the preparation stage, the extension implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. The results of this community service are that the community increasingly understands the importance of preserving the aquatic environment, one of which is through the use of water hyacinth as a liquid organic fertilizer to replace chemical fertilizers, so as to realize sustainable agriculture.]]>

<![CDATA[This service journal is the output of community service activities that have a topic on customer service by involving the role of students in it. Where this activity aims to provide an overview to students about the application of learning during the lecture process and as another form of guidance to students and the community where this programme takes place. The location of the service is located in the sub-district of Gresik. There are several planning steps that have been conceptualised to support this activity. At the time of implementation, it was found that one of the various obstacles faced was the lack of understanding regarding adequate facilities to support activities and marketing methods that could support increased repurchase interest in medium business development activities which were planned to focus on online and offline-based development. From the activities that have been carried out involving product users, the implementation of activities that have been agreed by both parties is considered to have an influence on increasing repurchase interest.]]>

<![CDATA[One of the tourist attractions that attracts the attention of domestic and foreign tourists is the marine beach in Kec. South Java. Looking at the history of this Marine Tourism Beach, it has been around for a long time, this beach is an empty beach and forest that is not managed or developed, since 2019 one of the residents of Jawai Laut Village has taken the initiative to invite local residents to explore this still beautiful beach and form an awareness group. Marine Tourism Beach tourism which has 52 members. The aim of this background is to increase tourist awareness in preserving the marine coastal tourism ecosystem in the Javai Laut village, Javai sub-district. The methods used in the activity include counseling and discussion. Based on outreach activities at the maritime coast of Jawai Laut Village, Kec. This outreach program conveys information regarding tourist awareness in preserving the marine coastal tourism ecosystem in Jawai Laut village, Jawai sub-district the tourists were very enthusiastic in taking part in the outreach that was carried out.]]>

<![CDATA[The quality of human resources has an important role in encouraging development progress. Regions that have advanced development are usually reflected in one indicator of human development. Therefore, each region continues to compete to increase its HDI index in order to show the level of success of its regional development. The purpose of this article is to discuss the promotion and education of higher education through expo campus activities at MAN 01 Batang. This activity was motivated by the lack of HDI in Batang Regency. The interest of the people of Batang Regency in continuing higher education is still low. This can be seen from BPS statistical data that the HDI in Batang Regency in the 2020-2022 period is still 69-nan. This service method uses an educational promotion approach with a queuing system from class to class. The service team uses brochures, lectures, and also uses a projector screen in activities. To oversee the progress of the event, each student carries a control card so they are required to attend this event until the end. The results show that this activity is able to increase students' interest in continuing to higher education. At first they did not think about continuing to college after they finished school. However, after this activity they were motivated to continue their studies. In fact, they are optimistic that by attending college they will indirectly contribute to increasing the HDI in Batang Regency which is still low).]]>

<![CDATA[The partner in this program is the At Taqwa Farm group, Sekura Village. The focus of the At Taqwa Farm group is agriculture and animal husbandry. This group has been established since 2020, and has 55 goat farming. The main problem faced by partners is in the feeding process. So far, partners have provided food by taking grass or leaves with a scythe, then simply giving it to livestock. Based on the partner's problems, the service implementation team provided a solution in the form of applying technology using an animal feed chopper machine to the partners. The stages of service activities include chopping machine design, chopping machine manufacturing, chopping machine performance testing, training on operation and maintenance of chopping machines, as well as handing over chopping machines to partners. The grass chopper machine handed over to the partner can function well in chopping grass for animal feed. This really helps partners increase their grass chopping capacity, making the feed preparation process easier for partners.]]>

<![CDATA[The highest incidence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the world occurs in teenagers and young adults. In Indonesia, teenage girls experience vaginal discharge every year. Health education through lecture and discussion methods carried out by planning, implementing and evaluating activities. This community service activity was carried out in Class VII A-B of SMP Negeri 13 Padang for 30 young women. The form of activity is providing health education through lecture and discussion methods, in the form of material about menstruation with the help of power point slides, distributing leaflets, and videos of the physiology of menstruation in women. The material provided is providing information about the concept of menstruation, menstrual phases, menstrual disorders, and efforts to maintain reproductive hygiene during menstruation. Then, after delivering the material, a discussion session continues, where students are asked to ask questions and respond to them in order to find out their understanding of the material provided. There was an increase in female students' knowledge before and after receiving menstrual education materials.]]>

<![CDATA[Coverage of family planning participants in the Lubuk Buaya Community Health Center working area which consists of four sub-districts, namely Parupuk Tabing, Lubuk Buaya, Pasie Nan Tigo and Ganting is 12.9%. Meanwhile, coverage of new family planning participants was 50.4%. Meanwhile, the lowest achievement rate for family planning participants was found in the Pasie Nan Tigo sub-district. Apart from that, it can be seen from the socio-economic status of the people in the Pasie Nan Tigo sub-district which is on the coast. Objective: This community service is to provide education about the importance of family planning, so that reproductive mothers or women of childbearing age will be more concerned about their reproductive health. The results of the program were implemented smoothly, and the enthusiasm of the participants (mothers and cadres) was high. This can provide support for government programs in efforts to increase mothers' awareness and knowledge about the importance of family planning. Evaluation of the lack of awareness of couples of childbearing age regarding family planning is caused by the mother's lack of knowledge. Conclusion: Through this socialization, mothers and cadres can gain useful knowledge about the importance of family planning]]>

<![CDATA[This community service activity aims to increase students' understanding and awareness of the importance of consuming fresh fish as a source of nutritious and safe food for body health. This activity was carried out at SMPN 5 Sambas with a target of 30 grade 8 students. The methods used include lectures, interactive discussions, counseling through animated video media, and question and answer sessions that encourage active student participation. The material presented included the definition of fish, the benefits of fish consumption, and how to distinguish fresh and unfresh fish. Giving gifts to students who are able to answer questions correctly is a form of appreciation and motivation. This activity was closed with a photo session with students and principals as documentation. The results of the activity show that an interactive educational approach is able to increase students' knowledge regarding the benefits of consuming fresh fish. It is hoped that this activity can form better fish consumption habits among students.]]>

<![CDATA[Sambas State Polytechnic as a Higher Education Institution that has been established since 2008 still does not have an official publishing institution. Efforts to overcome this problem are made by building internal publications that can effectively support academic and research goals. Through community service activities, activities were carried out that aimed to establish an institution-owned publishing named Poltesa Press. Activities carried out include the formation of the organizational structure and single account of Poltesa Press, making the Poltesa Press emblem and website, making books to be published, proposing book ISBNs, printing books and proposing Poltesa Press to become a member of IKAPI. Based on the Decree of the Director of Sambas State Polytechnic, the organizational structure and single account of Poltesa Press were determined. The chosen Poltesa Press symbol was determined based on the results of the Poltesa Press team meeting. The first book published by Poltesa Press was titled “The Surefire Trick of Fishing Shrimp in the River”. The ISBN proposal of the book was submitted to the National Library. Official recognition as a legitimate publisher is done by proposing Poltesa Press to become a member of IKAPI in the West Kalimantan branch board.]]>
