Abstract

This study examines the effect of governance quality on tax revenue and investigates the moderating role of economic sustainability. Grounded in the Quality of Governance (QoG) framework, Agency Theory, and Sustainable Growth Theory, this research explains how institutional quality influences fiscal capacity and how economic sustainability conditions this relationship. The study employs an explanatory quantitative design using an unbalanced panel dataset of seven ASEAN countries over the period 1996–2023, comprising 196 observations selected through purposive sampling based on data availability and consistency. Secondary data are obtained from the World Bank’s Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI), World Development Indicators (WDI), and the International Country Risk Guide (ICRG). The analysis is conducted using panel data regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with robust standard errors to address heteroskedasticity and autocorrelation. The results show that government effectiveness, regulatory quality, rule of law, and voice and accountability have positive and significant effects on tax revenue, while control of corruption and political stability exhibit negative short-term effects. Furthermore, economic sustainability strengthens the positive relationship between governance quality and tax revenue while weakening the effects of certain governance dimensions. These findings indicate that governance reforms alone are insufficient without supportive and sustainable economic conditions. This study contributes by integrating governance quality and economic sustainability into a unified framework and provides policy implications for developing countries in designing integrated strategies to enhance tax revenue performance.

Abstract

Global environmental issues require early educational interventions; however, environmental education in primary schools is still predominantly cognitive-oriented and has not effectively fostered students’ attitudes and behaviors. This study aims to develop and examine the effectiveness of an ecopedagogical thematic learning model to enhance environmental literacy. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the Dick and Carey model. The participants were 75 upper-grade primary school students in Tasikmalaya, Indonesia, selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and validated instruments, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and normalized gain (N-gain). The results show that the developed model is highly feasible (mean = 4.70) and received very positive student responses (93.33%–96.26%). Statistical analysis indicates a significant improvement in students’ environmental literacy (p < .001), with an average N-gain score of 0.62, categorized as moderate to high. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of ecopedagogical principles, thematic learning, and experiential learning into a structured instructional model that simultaneously addresses cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains. These findings imply that the model can be used by teachers as a holistic and student-centered approach to design more meaningful and sustainability-oriented learning in primary education.

Abstract

Vocational high school graduates in Indonesia face the highest unemployment rates, largely due to deficient employability skills. This study developed and validated the BIDASAN psychoeducational model a culturally responsive intervention rooted in the Minangkabau "Induak Samang-Anak Samang" philosophy to strengthen vocational students' career readiness. Following the ADDIE instructional design model, a needs analysis was conducted with 322 students in West Sumatra, followed by a quasi-experimental trial with 20 students at Vocational secondary education 1 Enam Lingkung. Data were collected using a 63-item validated employability scale and analyzed via paired and independent sample t-tests. Expert validation (85.33%) and practitioner practicality (87%) confirmed the model's high feasibility. The experimental group showed a significant improvement in employability skills (N-Gain 0.38) compared to the control group (N-Gain 0.21). The BIDASAN model effectively bridges the gap between cultural values and professional demands, offering a novel approach for school counselors to reduce graduate unemployment.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic severely disrupted the global hospitality industry, causing widespread declines in occupancy rates, revenue, and workforce stability. Despite growing awareness of occupational health and safety (OHS), there remains a critical knowledge gap regarding the effectiveness of OHS protocol implementation in supporting hospitality sector recovery. This study aimed to evaluate and synthesize evidence on OHS protocol implementation strategies in the hospitality sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A systematic literature review combined with meta-analysis was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. Five peer-reviewed studies published from 2020 to 2025 were analyzed using PICOS-based inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were extracted and synthesized thematically; effect sizes and confidence intervals were estimated through a visual meta-analysis using a bar chart and forest plot. Results: The sustainable tourism governance model demonstrated the highest relevance level (90%), followed by safety policy implementation (85%) and the Perception-Reaction-Prediction (PRP) model (80%). Urban hotels adopted health protocols more rapidly than rural hotels, and women demanded stricter safety standards than men. All five reviewed studies reported significant effect sizes with confidence intervals that did not cross zero. Discussion/Novelty: This study makes a novel contribution by providing the first systematic meta-analytic synthesis of OHS protocol effectiveness specifically within the hospitality sector during a pandemic context, integrating governance, demographic, and geographic dimensions.

Abstract

Variations in institutional quality indicate the absence of a coherent and standardized framework for defining school excellence. Muhammadiyah has extensive contribution schools in Indonesia. Offers an integrative Outstanding School Model of Muhammadiyah as a strategic framework for achieving a golden standard in future-oriented education. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of Islamic values and future competencies into a unified Outstanding School Model of Muhammadiyah, which is further aligned with a real-world school evaluation system to establish a standardized framework for educational excellence. This study employs a qualitative design-based approach by integrating systematic literature review and document analysis to develop an Outstanding School Model of Muhammadiyah. The findings reveal that, although the MFS instrument is structurally comprehensive, it remains conceptually fragmented. Through thematic and quantitative analysis, its components are reorganized into four core dimensions: academic excellence, Islamic character (Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan), future skills, and institutional quality. The results also indicate an imbalance in indicator distribution, with a strong emphasis on institutional aspects and limited integration of future-oriented competencies. The transformation of an existing evaluation system into a coherent and integrative framework that aligns Islamic educational values with global competencies. Furthermore, the model is aligned with SDG 4 Quality Education, reinforcing its relevance within global educational discourse. This study contributes by providing a standardized reference for improving school quality and guiding the development of Muhammadiyah education toward a sustainable and future-ready paradigm.

Abstract

Lansium domesticum Corr. is a fruit crop with high consumer demand; however, its conventional propagation is relatively slow. In vitro culture offers a potential alternative to accelerate plant propagation. This study aimed to evaluate sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl)-based sterilization protocols and identify the most effective treatment for in vitro establishment of leaf lamina explants. The experiment was conducted at the Tissue Culture Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya, from July to September 2024 using five sterilization treatments with different NaOCl concentrations and exposure times. Data were analyzed descriptively to determine the percentages of bacterial contamination, fungal contamination, surviving explants, and browning incidence. The results showed that the treatment consisting of liquid detergent (3 min), 0.2% streptomycin sulfate (10 min), 0.2% benomyl (10 min), 1% NaOCl (15 min), and 70% ethanol (5 min) was the most effective protocol. This treatment resulted in 63% explant survival, 0% browning, 33% bacterial contamination, and 3% fungal contamination. This study provides a practical sterilization protocol that balances antimicrobial effectiveness and tissue viability, representing a novel contribution for in vitro propagation of Lansium domesticum. The findings have important implications for improving large-scale propagation efficiency of this economically important tropical fruit species. These results indicate that moderate NaOCl exposure is essential to achieve an optimal balance between contamination control and explant viability in in vitro culture systems.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the key factors influencing the implementation of GASING mathematics, particularly teachers’ perception, attitude, competence, and school support, in a rural educational context. The study addresses the limited integration of these variables within a single analytical framework, especially in remote areas such as Kaimana. A mixed-methods approach was employed involving 14 teachers who have experience in implementing the GASING method. Quantitative data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman correlation, while qualitative data were obtained through open-ended responses and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that all variables are categorized as high to very high, reflecting positive responses toward the GASING method. Correlation analysis shows that teacher competence has the strongest relationship with implementation (r = 0.62), followed by school support (r = 0.52), perception (r = 0.43), and attitude (r = 0.35). These findings highlight the central role of teacher competence in ensuring effective implementation. Qualitative findings further reveal that despite positive perceptions and attitudes, teachers still encounter challenges related to limited practical skills and inconsistent institutional support. This study offers a novel contribution by integrating multiple teacher-related and institutional factors within a mixed-methods framework in a remote context. The findings imply that strengthening teacher competence through continuous professional development, supported by consistent school policies and resources, is essential for optimizing the implementation of innovative mathematics learning approaches such as GASING.

Abstract

Digital literacy is an important competency that students must possess in facing learning and academic life in the digital era. Student digital literacy is inseparable from the use of a learning management system. This study aims to measure students' digital literacy abilities in terms of four main components: digital ethics, digital culture, digital skills, and digital security after participating in learning with a learning management system. This study uses a survey research type with a descriptive analysis design. Data were processed using the statistical application SPSS 20. The population in this study were all active students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in the odd semester of 2025/2026 and the sample consisted of 75 students who had participated in learning using an online learning management system. The results showed that the overall level of student digital literacy was in the very high category (96%) and high: 4%. Each digital literacy variable was measured by six statements. Currently, there are many learning management systems circulating as a result of technological developments with various learning process features provided digitally, so that universities massively organize online learning but neglect to evaluate students' digital literacy abilities after participating in learning with a digital learning management system. This study recommends the importance of evaluating digital literacy skills as an impact of the use of technology in the learning process in higher education.

Abstract

Good performance reflects staff effectiveness at work, which can be achieved through disciplined behavior. However, disciplined behavior is shaped by policies related to rewards and punishments for staff. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of rewards and punishments on the performance of Credit Union staff, with discipline as a mediating factor. The sample in this study consisted of 160 staff members from 78 branches of the Credit Union. The method employed was SEM-PLS 4.0. The findings demonstrate that disciplined behavior has a significant effect on staff performance, and the implementation of punishment significantly affects staff discipline. However, punishment does not directly influence performance, meaning it alters disciplined behavior but does not immediately improve work outcomes. Indirectly, however, punishment, through its effect on discipline, significantly influences staff performance. Meanwhile, the reward system implemented does not affect either disciplinary behavior or staff performance at Credit Union. Furthermore, indirectly, the reward system mediated by discipline also shows no significant effect on staff performance. The novelty of this study lies in the finding that the punishment system has a significant indirect effect on performance through discipline, whereas rewards do not exert any influence, either directly or indirectly. This finding challenges the prevailing assumption in human resource management, which tends to position rewards as the primary driver of performance improvement, particularly within the context of Credit Union organizations.

Abstract

Slope failure along the Jayapura City Ring Road persisted despite shotcrete reinforcement, indicating that instability is not controlled solely by slope geometry or surface confinement. Field evidence points to weakening within foliated metamorphic rocks affected by tropical weathering, where mineral alteration progressively modifies the internal structure. This study examines how mineralogical transformations govern subsurface degradation and contribute to failure beneath reinforced slopes. A case study approach was applied using two representative samples (ST-01 and ST-02) obtained directly from the failure zone. Petrographic analysis of ~30 μm thin sections was conducted to evaluate mineral textures, fabric orientation, and alteration pathways. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to identify and semi-quantify the mineral phases, including albite, quartz, chlorite, muscovite, sericite, and magnetite. Subsurface conditions were assessed using ADMT resistivity profiling across a frequency range of 0.0001–10,000 Hz, reaching depths of approximately 300 m. The results indicate a mineralogical transition from a wollastonite–actinolite–chlorite assemblage in ST-01 to a chlorite–muscovite–sericite-dominated system in ST-02. The XRD data show a decrease in albite from ~19.74% to ~11.61%, while an unresolved fraction exceeding ~20% suggests the presence of poorly crystalline phases. Petrographic observations revealed that chlorite and sericite were concentrated along foliation and microfractures. The resistivity data identified a low-resistivity zone (10–20 Ωm) at depths of ~10–60 m, corresponding to altered and fluid-influenced domains. These findings indicate that weathering reduces cohesion along structurally controlled planes while preserving partial framework integrity, shifting the locus of failure to the subsurface beneath the shotcrete layer.
