Abstract

This study addresses four significant research gaps in the literature on multigrade teaching in Indonesia: (1) the absence of studies specifically examining mathematics teaching strategies in multigrade classrooms; (2) the methodological gap due to the dominance of quantitative descriptive approaches that cannot capture teachers' practical wisdom; (3) the contextual gap as international findings are not directly transferable to Indonesian remote school settings; and (4) the empirical gap in linking quantitative teacher shortage data with adaptive strategies developed by teachers in the field. Based on BPS Cianjur 2025/2026 data, the three research locations (Campakamulya, Pagelaran, and Leles sub-districts) have an average of only 7.9 teachers per school well below the Cianjur average of 10.2—confirming that multigrade teaching is a structural necessity, not a pedagogical choice. This study employs a qualitative approach with an instrumental case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving three experienced teachers in remote schools. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The findings reveal five adaptive strategies developed independently by teachers without formal training: (1) adaptive classroom management with a tiered time-rotation system; (2) cross-grade cooperative learning and peer tutoring; (3) contextual differentiated instruction using local life contexts; (4) structured independent learning routines; and (5) local wisdom-based contextual adaptation integrating agricultural, economic, and cultural elements into mathematics. The novelty of this study lies in introducing the concept of 'multigrade teacher practical wisdom' as a category of professional knowledge constructed independently by teachers in the field, which has not previously been documented in Indonesian mathematics education literature.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the process of cultural communication in cultivating anti-corruption education through the teachings of Saminism in the Sikep community of Blora Regency. Saminism encompasses values such as honesty, simplicity, responsibility, and the prohibition against infringing on the rights of others, which align with the principles of anti-corruption education. This research uses a qualitative approach with a cultural communication perspective to understand how values are conveyed, interpreted, and transmitted. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of the Sikep community’s daily life. The results show that cultural communication occurs through interpersonal communication conducted by parents and community leaders. Messages are delivered in the form of pitutur (advice), everyday language, and role modeling. The communication media are traditional and non-formal through family interactions and daily habits. Cultural communication and symbolic interactionism analysis show that anti-corruption values are internalized through repeated social practices and become collective habits passed down through generations, forming shared awareness of honesty and responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of the Pancasila Student Profile in history learning within the Merdeka Curriculum and to identify the challenges faced by teachers in its implementation. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted at SMA Negeri 7 Palu. The subjects consisted of the principal, vice principal for curriculum, history teacher, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of data analysis, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the integration of the Pancasila Student Profile has been implemented in various stages of history learning, including preliminary, core, and closing activities. However, the implementation is still partial and not yet systematically structured. Affective dimensions such as faith and global diversity are relatively well integrated, while cognitive dimensions such as critical thinking and creativity remain less developed. Furthermore, several challenges were identified, including limited innovative teaching strategies, uneven student participation, low critical thinking skills, and time constraints in learning. This study contributes to the understanding of how the Pancasila Student Profile is integrated in history learning and highlights the need for more systematic and student-centered instructional strategies to optimize character development and higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to map the development of research on the integration of 21st-century skills into economics learning and its relationship to learning outcomes through a bibliometric approach. The research background is based on the increasing global need for 21st-century competencies, but the literature shows that their application in the context of economics education is still limited and unstructured. Analysis was conducted on 467 international publications, which were then selected to 180 relevant articles based on title and abstract. All data were analyzed using R Studio with the Bibliometrix package for the period 2015–2025 to produce visualizations related to publication trends, author and country collaborations, keyword co-occurrence, and thematic structure. The results show a significant increase in the number of publications post-2020, the dominance of general themes such as critical thinking and digital literacy, and minimal direct links to economics learning. Collaboration patterns remain regional and have not yet formed a global network, while thematic map analysis reveals that economics education has not yet entered the main cluster of 21st-century skills research. These findings emphasize the existence of a disciplinary gap that needs to be bridged through further research, particularly to strengthen the position of economics education in the global literature map. This research provides an important contribution as a basis for developing future research directions that are more integrated and contextual.

Abstract

Learning is still predominantly conventional, with a high level of dependence on printed textbooks that are limited in quantity. Therefore, this classroom action research was conducted by implementing a discovery learning-based e-book aimed at improving students’ critical thinking skills. The subjects of this study were 30 fifth-grade students of SDN 2 Bongkasa, Badung, Bali. This study employed a classroom action research method conducted in two cycles. The research instrument used was a test of students’ critical thinking skills. The results showed that in Cycle I, the mean score was 74, the median was 75, the mode was 75, and the classical mastery level reached 60%. Therefore, the study was continued to Cycle II. In Cycle II, the mean score increased to 87, the median to 88, the mode to 90, and the classical mastery level improved to 93%. The improvement in classical mastery from Cycle I to Cycle II indicates that the implemented action was successful; therefore, the study was concluded at Cycle II. In conclusion, the discovery learning-based e-book was effective in improving elementary school students’ critical thinking skills. It is recommended that future researchers expand this study by involving a broader range of subjects.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) teachers in instilling tolerance values ??in students in private religious schools. Tolerance is a fundamental value in a pluralistic and diverse Indonesian society. This literature review analyzes the strategies and approaches used by PPKn teachers in developing attitudes of tolerance, the challenges faced in the context of private religious schools, and their impact on student character formation. The results of the study indicate that PPKn teachers have a strategic position as agents of transformation of tolerance values ??through contextual learning approaches, role models, and collaboration with various parties. The challenges faced include the potential for exclusivism of religious-based educational environments, intolerant external influences, and limited interaction with different communities. Research recommendations include strengthening the multicultural competence of PPKn teachers, developing more inclusive curricula and learning methods, and more intensive collaboration with families and communities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the impact of integrating Islamic values into mathematics learning on improving students’ learning motivation at MTs N 1 East Lombok. The background of this research is based on the dichotomy between mathematics as a scientific discipline and religious values, which has contributed to low levels of students’ intrinsic motivation. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data triangulation techniques, including observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of 30 seventh-grade students and a mathematics teacher at MTs N 1 East Lombok. The implemented learning model integrated Islamic values through structured stages, including planning and implementation based on Problem Based Learning. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ learning motivation. The average intrinsic motivation increased from 2.86 to 4.22 (gain = 1.36), while extrinsic motivation increased from 3.16 to 4.26 (gain = 1.10). The effect size values were categorized as large (d = 1.25 for intrinsic motivation; d = 0.98 for extrinsic motivation), indicating strong practical effectiveness of the intervention. The highest improvement was observed in the indicator of awareness of learning as a form of worship. These findings indicate that the integration of Islamic values is capable of transforming students’ learning orientation from purely cognitive to meaning-oriented learning. The implications of this study highlight that mathematics learning based on the integration of religious values contributes to the development of holistic intelligence, encompassing both intellectual and spiritual dimensions

Abstract

Sumba culture, especially the pangara ana tradition, plays an important role in the Wewewa community, which has been practiced for generations and continues to develop to this day. This study focuses on the meaning of speech in the Pangara Ana ritual among the Wewewa community in Southwest Sumba. The urgency of this study is marked by the lack of knowledge among the younger generation to understand the meaning of speech in the form of words (traditional language) found in the Pangara Ana ritual among the Wewewa community in Southwest Sumba. The purpose of this study is to analyze the speech in the Pangara Ana ritual among the Wewewa community in Southwest Sumba. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method with an ethnographic approach. Data collection techniques include observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, categorization and coding, contextual analysis, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that lexically, Pangara Ana is not chosen randomly, but has a special meaning related to the hopes of the family, history, circumstances of birth, or characteristics desired by the Wewewa community. In contextual terms, names serve as a vital form of symbolic communication, reflecting their perspectives on life, the environment, and the spiritual realm. In religious terms, names carry meaning and power, and by involving ancestors in the naming process, the child is spiritually recognized as part of the tribe or kabissu
