Abstract

Short-term memory in school-aged children can be influenced by several factors, including nutritional status, physical activity levels, and sleep quality. This study aims to analyze the differences and correlations between individual and family characteristics—such as age, allowance, family size, family income, parental education—as well as nutritional status, physical activity, and sleep quality, with short-term memory in school-aged children at SDN Semplak 02. This research used a cross-sectional design with a sample of 40 school-aged children. The sample was selected using a stratified random sampling method. Most subjects had normal nutritional status, engaged in low levels of physical activity, had good sleep quality, and exhibited excellent short-term memory. The results showed significant correlations between individual and family characteristics and short-term memory (p<0.05). There were significant differences in nutritional status, physical activity, and sleep quality based on gender (p<0.05). Significant correlations were found between physical activity and sleep quality with nutritional status (p<0.05). Additionally, there were significant correlations between nutritional status, physical activity, and sleep quality with short-term memory (p<0.05).

Abstract

Learning concentration is an essential component in supporting students' academic achievement. Both internal and external factors can affect concentration levels, including sleep quality, iron intake, and breakfast habits. This study aims to examine the relationship between sleep quality, frequency of iron consumption, and breakfast habits with students' learning concentration at MA Al Irsyad Sungai Tuan. This study applied an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 48 students from grades X and XI who met the inclusion criteria were selected as respondents using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using standardized instruments, namely the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to assess sleep quality, the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) to measure the frequency of iron intake, and an additional questionnaire to assess breakfast habits and learning concentration levels. Data analysis was conducted using Spearman's Rank correlation test to identify relationships between variables. The results showed significant correlations between sleep quality (p=0.000), frequency of iron consumption (p=0.001), and breakfast habits (p=0.002) with students’ learning concentration. These findings indicate that students with good sleep quality, adequate iron intake, and regular breakfast habits tend to have higher levels of learning concentration. In conclusion, sleep quality, frequency of iron consumption, and breakfast habits are important determinants in supporting students’ learning concentration. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for schools and parents to pay more attention to students' lifestyle factors in order to promote optimal academic performance.

Abstract

Overweight and obesity are global health issues that continue to rise in the modern era, including in Indonesia. The increasing use of online food delivery (OFD) services, which often promote unhealthy food choices, along with high levels of emotional eating and poor dietary quality, are believed to contribute to the growing prevalence of overweight and obesity, particularly among university students. The objective of this study is to describe the prevalence of overweight and obesity and to examine their associations with the frequency of online food delivery (OFD) orders, OFD ordering practices, emotional eating, and diet quality among students at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. A cross-sectional design was employed in this study, involving 80 undergraduate participants selected through proportional stratified random sampling. Data were gathered through validated questionnaires and direct anthropometric measurements. The Chi-square test and Odds Ratio (OR) were used for analysis. The results showed that 54.4% of students rarely used OFD services, 51.9% had poor OFD ordering practices, 53.2% exhibited high levels of emotional eating, 54.4% had poor diet quality, and 32.9% were classified as being overweight or obesity. Emotional eating (p=0.003; OR=4.7) and poor diet quality (p<0.001; OR=5.9) were significantly associated with overweight and obesity. Neither the frequency nor the practice of OFD usage was significantly associated with being overweight or obesity (p>0.05). Students with high emotional eating and poor dietary quality were more likely to experience overnutrition.

Abstract

Obesity was a condition of fat accumulation in the body due to an imbalance of energy intake and energy expended over a long period. Data showed that the prevalence of obesity continued to increase worldwide and in Indonesia. Obesity conditions were associated with various risks of degenerative diseases, characterized by poor metabolic examination results in the obese group. Strawberry fruit contained rich polyphenols and antioxidants, which had the potential to be a dietary therapy for obese groups in the form of strawberry powder. Researchers needed to study further by exploring the possibility of strawberry powder to improve obesity-related biomarkers. This study referred to the scoping review guide by using the PCC (Population, Concept, and Context) framework to determine the scope of exploration and used the PRISMA diagram as a tool for selecting articles to be reviewed. The search yielded 1678 articles (database: PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct) and were then eliminated according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria until the final extraction of 4 articles for review. Consumption of strawberry powder had positive effects on vascular function, endothelial function, cardiovascular function, lipid metabolism, as well as insulin sensitivity, and overall had the potential to improve metabolic biomarkers in obese groups.

Abstract

Remaja termasuk kelompok usia yang memiliki kerentanan tinggi terhadap gangguan gizi, yang dipengaruhi oleh dinamika sosial dan kebiasaan hidup yang tidak menunjang kesehatan. Di Kota Bandung, kasus obesitas remaja tercatat cukup tinggi. Salah satu aspek yang dapat memengaruhi perilaku aktivitas fisik dan kondisi gizi adalah norma subjektif serta keinginan untuk melakukan aktivitas fisik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji keterkaitan antara norma subjektif dan intensi dalam beraktivitas fisik terhadap aktivitas fisik aktual serta status gizi pada remaja awal. Studi ini menggunakan rancangan kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sebanyak 64 remaja awal di wilayah Pasundan dipilih sebagai responden menggunakan rumus Lemeshow. Uji bivariat dengan metode Fisher’s Exact test menunjukan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara norma subjektif dan intensi untuk beraktivitas fisik (p=0,001). Namun, hubungan antara intensi dengan aktivitas fisik (p=0,187), norma subjektif dengan aktivitas fisik (p=0,385), intensi dengan status gizi (p=0,908), serta norma subjektif dengan status gizi (p=0,535). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa norma subjektif memiliki hubungan terhadap pembentukan intensi, namun belum cukup mampu mendorong terjadinya perubahan perilaku nyata pada remaja.

Abstract

  Anemia remains a prevalent nutritional problem among adolescents, particularly adolescent girls. Based on data from the Padang City Health Office in 2021, the prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls reached 42.5%, increasing to 70.8% in 2023 at SMPN 38 Padang. Inadequate iron intake and low levels of knowledge are among the primary contributing factors to anemia. This study aimed to develop an educational media in the form of a puzzle game about anemia that is valid, feasible, and effective in improving adolescents’ knowledge. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE development model, consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study was conducted at SMPN 38 Padang in 2025. The research subject was the developed educational media, while the product trial involved 30 eighth-grade students. Validation was carried out by two material experts and two media experts. The validation results indicated that the media was highly valid, with an average expert validation score of 89.6%. The feasibility test conducted by students showed a very feasible category with an average score of 90.85%. The pretest and posttest results demonstrated an increase in the mean knowledge score from 4.77 to 6.67. The Wilcoxon test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05), indicating that the puzzle-based educational media was effective in improving students’ knowledge. In conclusion, the puzzle game can be used as an interactive and engaging educational medium for adolescent nutrition education.

Abstract

Status gizi mahasiswa merupakan indikator penting yang dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, termasuk pola makan dan aktivitas fisik. Mahasiswa, khususnya pada usia 19–24 tahun, masih berada dalam fase pertumbuhan dan membutuhkan asupan gizi serta gaya hidup sehat untuk mendukung produktivitas akademik dan kesehatan jangka panjang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pola makan dan aktivitas fisik terhadap status gizi mahasiswa Jurusan Biologi FMIPA Universitas Negeri Makassar. Penelitian ini merupakan studi observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sebanyak 115 mahasiswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner FFQ (pola makan), GPAQ (aktivitas fisik), dan pengukuran Indeks Massa Tubuh (status gizi). Analisis data dilakukan secara univariat, bivariat (uji Chi Square), dan multivariat (regresi linier berganda) menggunakan SPSS 22. Mayoritas responden memiliki pola makan tidak baik (53,9%) dan aktivitas fisik kategori berat (63,5%). Hasil uji chi-square menunjukkan terdapat hubungan signifikan antara pola makan dan aktivitas fisik dengan status gizi (p=0,000). Regresi linier berganda menunjukkan bahwa pola makan berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap status gizi (B=0,006; t=4,283; p=0,000), sementara aktivitas fisik berpengaruh negatif signifikan (B=-0,002; t=-11,439; p=0,000). Nilai F hitung=247,692 > F tabel=3,08 (p=0,000), dan nilai R² sebesar 0,816. Terdapat pengaruh signifikan pola makan dan aktivitas fisik terhadap status gizi mahasiswa. Perbaikan pola makan dan peningkatan aktivitas fisik perlu menjadi fokus intervensi untuk menjaga status gizi optimal.

Abstract

Masa remaja ditandai dengan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan fisik yang pesat, sehingga menyebabkan peningkatan kebutuhan zat gizi, terutama mikronutrien. Vitamin D dan magnesium merupakan mikronutrien yang dibutuhkan oleh tubuh. Defisiensi vitamin D berkaitan erat dengan defisiensi magnesium dalam tubuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tingkat asupan vitamin D dan magnesium pada remaja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasional analitik dengan pendekatan potong lintang. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Kuta dan SMP Negeri 4 Kuta Selatan. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas remaja berusia 13–15 tahun dari tiga kelas terpilih di masing-masing sekolah. Data dikumpulkan melalui pengukuran antropometri dan wawancara menggunakan SQ-FFQ. Uji Mann-Whitney digunakan untuk menganalisis perbedaan asupan magnesium dan vitamin D antara remaja dengan status gizi lebih dan status gizi normal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa asupan mikronutrien pada remaja dengan status gizi lebih maupun normal belum memenuhi standar Angka Kecukupan Gizi (AKG). Analisis menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan pada asupan vitamin D (p<0,001) dan asupan magnesium (p<0,001) antara remaja dengan status gizi lebih dan remaja dengan status gizi normal. Asupan vitamin D pada remaja dengan status gizi normal (1,1 mcg/hari) maupun remaja dengan status gizi lebih (2,2 mcg/hari) masih berada di bawah batas AKG yang dianjurkan. Asupan magnesium pada remaja dengan status gizi normal (87,6 mg/hari) maupun remaja dengan status gizi lebih (189 mg/hari) juga masih berada di bawah ambang batas AKG yang dianjurkan. Mengingat rendahnya asupan vitamin D dan magnesium dibandingkan dengan rekomendasi AKG, maka penting untuk meningkatkan kualitas pola konsumsi pangan, khususnya dalam hal asupan mikronutrien.

Abstract

Older adults are a population group that continues to increase each year and is vulnerable to various health problems, including hypertension. The prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia remains high. Based on the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), the prevalence reached 57.6%. In West Java, the prevalence was 71.08%, while in Bekasi City it increased from 29.2% in 2013 to 39.6% in 2018. One of the government’s efforts to control non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is through community-based health services such as integrated health service posts (Posyandu) and integrated non-communicable disease posts (Posbindu) for older adults. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between nutritional status, nutrient intake (sodium and fat), and physical activity with blood pressure among older adults at Posbindu Anyelir, North Bekasi District. This study used a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 70 older adults who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria participated in the study. Data were collected through questionnaires and direct measurements and analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that the prevalence of hypertension was 37.1%. There was no significant relationship between nutritional status (p=0.194) and physical activity (p=0.749) with blood pressure. However, sodium intake (p<0.001) and fat intake (p=0.049) were significantly associated with blood pressure. These findings highlight the importance of nutrition education to control sodium and fat intake as part of hypertension prevention among older adults.

Abstract

The increase in ultra processed food consumption and sedentary lifestyles have become global health issues contributing to the increasing prevalence of overnutrition, especially among adolescents. Adolescents are a vulnerable group because this period involves the formation of long-term lifestyle patterns that can continue into adulthood. This study aims to analyze the relationship between ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption patterns and physical activity with the incidence of overnutrition status in adolescents at SMK Kesehatan Yayasan Harapan Bunda Sukabumi. This study is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 115 students were selected as respondents using a simple random sampling technique. Inclusion criteria in this study included active class X students who were willing to participate and signed an informed consent. In addition, to maintain data objectivity, it was ensured that subjects were not undergoing a special diet or certain medications that could affect weight or blood pressure variables. UPF consumption pattern data were collected using the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), physical activity data with the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescents (PAQ-A), and nutritional status data were measured through BMI/U. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test. The results showed a prevalence of overnutrition of 33.0%. A total of 30.4% of students frequently consumed UPF, and the majority (77.4%) had light physical activity levels. There was a significant relationship between UPF consumption and overnutrition status (p=0.036). In addition, there was also a significant relationship between physical activity and overnutrition status (p=0.021). High UPF consumption and low physical activity are important risk factors for the occurrence of overnutrition in students at SMK Kesehatan Yayasan Harapan Bunda Sukabumi.
