Abstract

The understanding of the Catholic faithful regarding the theological meaning of the Eucharist and the function of liturgical instruments is often still superficial. This condition not only diminishes reverence but also hinders active participation in worship, even though a correct understanding is the main foundation of ecclesial life. Stemming from this problem, this community service activity aims to enhance the faithful's appreciation through comprehensive assistance at St. Francis BTN Church. The implementation method used a participatory approach through three stages: interactive lectures, demonstrations of liturgical instruments, and discussions with Q&A sessions. The target audience was 35 faithful from various categorical groups. The results showed a significant increase in the participants' understanding, measured through pre-tests and post-tests. The average comprehension score of the participants increased from 62% in the pre-test to 88% in the post-test, with the highest increase in the indicator of the theological meaning of the paten and corporal. Furthermore, high enthusiasm was observed during the demonstration sessions. The faithful not only understood the names and functions of the instruments but also the theological meaning behind each liturgical symbol. This assistance proved effective in building a new awareness that the liturgy is not merely a routine, but a personal encounter with Christ. It is recommended that similar activities be carried out periodically with more in-depth material, such as the meaning of liturgical vestments and gestures.

Abstract

Lebak Village is one of the leading villages in Jepara Regency; however, it still faces challenges in strengthening community functional and digital literacy. The main problems are identified in the Village Library (Perpusdes) Pondok Ilmu, including the cessation of library management for the past two years, a manual administrative system, poorly maintained reading collections, the absence of access to digital information sources, and weak collaboration among stakeholders. These conditions have limited the development of community literacy, including civic literacy, which is essential for fostering a critical, participatory, and responsible society in the digital era. This Village Partnership Community Service Program (PKDB) aims to support the realization of Lebak Village as a Literacy Village that is adaptive to digital technological developments while strengthening community civic literacy, in line with the Asta Cita agenda for human resource development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on quality education. The implementation methods include socialization activities, digital-based village library management training, the introduction and application of the Smart Library for All (SaLeA) application, training on the development of local digital content, multi-stakeholder mentoring, and program sustainability evaluation. The results show that the implementation of SaLeA has improved the effectiveness of village library management, digital literacy, and community participation, with a program achievement rate ranging from 95.71% to 98.57%. This program highlights the importance of digital transformation in village libraries as a sustainable strategy for fostering a literacy culture, strengthening civic literacy, and improving the quality of village human resources.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB), commonly known as tuberculosis, is a dangerous airborne disease. It is transmitted by bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which spreads through the air when a TB sufferer spits, coughs, or sneezes, which are then inhaled by others. This disease can be prevented by several efforts, including carefully recording TB sufferers and treating them as soon as possible. Furthermore, further efforts include providing literacy or knowledge to the community about how to prevent TB transmission. These efforts include educating families and the wider community about proper handwashing and cough etiquette through Health Education. This community service program aims to increase families' understanding of how to reduce and prevent the spread of TB infection, namely by teaching handwashing and coughing etiquette. The approach implemented was physical and mental well-being education using a pre- and post-testing plan, involving 29 participants within the Balajara Community Health Center. Educational media used included presentations, leaflets, and flipcharts containing information on preventing TB infection transmission through handwashing and coughing etiquette. The results of this activity showed an increase in family knowledge, with the good knowledge group experiencing an increase from 41.37% in the initial test to 86.20% in the final test. It can be concluded that health education is effective in increasing family knowledge regarding preventing TB infection transmission through handwashing and cough etiquette. It is hoped that similar activities can be implemented continuously with the active participation of household members and field implementers.
