Abstract

The Berkah Bolu Production House is one of the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) that produces bolu cakes in Pekanbaru City. The business owner has difficulty in determining the amount of cake production because it is only based on the number of existing requests. Based on these problems, the Tsukamoto fuzzy method was chosen because it uses monotonous reasoning in each rule. There are 4 stages used in the calculation of the Tsukamoto method, namely fuzzification, inference, composition or aggregation, and defuzzification. The MAPE result obtained by the fuzzy Tsukomoto method is 6.91% and the accuracy level is 93.01%, which means that the fuzzy Tsukamoto method is very good at predicting the amount of production, so it can be used as a decision support system in determining the amount of bolu cake production in the Berkah Bolu Production House.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of low student ability in solving word problems in mathematics, indicating significant challenges in understanding and applying mathematical concepts in real-life contexts. The aim of this study is to describe the errors made by students and the factors contributing to these errors in solving word problems based on Watson's criteria. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection methods used include tests and interviews. A total of 29 tenth-grade students from SMA Negeri Cigugur were given test problems, and subsequently, 16 students were selected as research subjects, representing each of Watson's error criteria. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the most common types of errors made by students include omitted data (OD), inappropriate procedures (IP), such as incorrect procedures, response level conflicts (RLC), and inappropriate data (ID). Some of the factors contributing to these errors include failure to draw conclusions from the obtained data, lack of understanding of quadratic equations, and insufficient student preparation in solving problems. On the other hand, less frequently occurring errors include above other (AO), omitted data (OD), undirected manipulation (UM), and skill hierarchy problems (SHP). The factors causing these less frequent errors are generally related to students' lack of attention to detail and accuracy in problem-solving. This research provides significant contributions as a foundation for teachers to design more effective teaching strategies, particularly in enhancing students' conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.

Abstract

Air temperature, air humidity and sunlight are interconnected weather elements. The high and low intensity of solar radiation affects air temperature, while air temperature affects air humidity.  These three elements have an important role in global climate change and human activities on earth. In the agricultural sector, air temperature, air humidity and sunlight influence plant growth and development. These three elements also influence the water supply on earth. Information about these three weather elements is very important for Madura, where the majority of the population are farmers and planters, to determine more effective planting patterns. This research aims to create a model that can predict these three elements so that Madurese farmers and planters can plan planting patterns. A forecasting model that is able to handle predictions of several correlated variables is the Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model. The forecasting model obtained in this research is the VAR(5) model. MAPE for air temperature shows accurate forecasting results with a value of 2.3186%, while for air humidity and solar radiation shows quite accurate forecasting results with values of 29.6125% and 36.4231% respectively.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is crucial for students to apply mathematical concepts in real-world contexts. This study investigated the structure of students' concepts in mathematical literacy, focusing on a case study of a single eighth-grade student (S11) at SMP Negeri 9 Kota Tasikmalaya, Indonesia. Using a qualitative exploratory approach, the research employed a modified PISA mathematical literacy test, followed by a semi-structured interview and analysis of the student's work. Data analysis followed the interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman which involved three concurrent flows of activity namely data reduction, presentation and conclusion drawing. The results revealed that S11 only met the assumption indicator of mathematical literacy, leading to an incomplete and inaccurate conceptual structure. The study identified multiple instances of concept structure fragmentation, specifically hole construction fragmentation and pseudo-construction fragmentation. These fragmentations were attributed to limited reading comprehension skills, incomplete recording of question information, failures in mathematical concept construction (particularly in division), difficulties in assimilating and accommodating new information, and lack of social interaction with more competent individuals. These results provide valuable insights into students' challenges in applying mathematical concepts to practical scenarios.

Abstract

One of the efforts to improve mathematics learning outcomes is to understand students' mathematical communication skills. This can be optimized if teachers also know the types of learning styles that students have. Another way is to apply appropriate learning, including the realistic mathematics learning model. Based on this, a study was conducted to analyze students' mathematical communication skills in terms of learning styles through realistic mathematics learning. This type of research is qualitative research with the number of subjects 44 students XI MIA 2 MAS SIMBANGKULON. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires, tests, and interviews. The results showed that the most dominant percentage of mathematical communication skills in visual, auditorial, read/write and kinesthetic learning styles was in the third indicator, namely expressing mathematical ideas in solving everyday problems. On the other hand, the causes of students' difficulties in communicating mathematically are varied, but the most dominant for each learning style group is the same, namely lack of rigor.

Abstract

Premium reserves must be calculated correctly in order to minimise losses for the insurance business. The Fackler method and the Full Preliminary Term approach were used in this study to calculate premium reserves for term life insurance. The aim of this research is to compare the approaches for calculating premium reserves for term life insurance. Before determining the reserve value, the single premium, initial annuity, and yearly premium of term life insurance will be established. The research assumptions include that the insured is a man and a woman aged 30 years, that the insurance duration is 30 years, that the interest rate is 5.75%, and that the insurance firm will pay the insured IDR. 200,000,000. According to the results, based on the 2019 Indonesian Mortality Table (TMI), the value of Fackler reserves and Full Preliminary Term reserves in n-year term life insurance contracts provide distinct values. It is discovered that Fackler reserves are more valuable than Full Preliminary Term reserves. The Fackler reserve for male insureds in the first year is IDR 369,635 while the Full Preliminary Term reserve is IDR 0. Meanwhile, Fackler's reserve for female participants was IDR. 226,182, and the Full Preliminary Term reserve was Rp. 0. This is because the Full Preliminary Term reserve accounts for the insurance company's operations expenditures, such as administration fees, agent commissions, and other expenses. Meanwhile, the Fackler reserve excludes a number of charges from the Full Preliminary Term reserve
