Abstract

The Berkah Bolu Production House is one of the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) that produces bolu cakes in Pekanbaru City. The business owner has difficulty in determining the amount of cake production because it is only based on the number of existing requests. Based on these problems, the Tsukamoto fuzzy method was chosen because it uses monotonous reasoning in each rule. There are 4 stages used in the calculation of the Tsukamoto method, namely fuzzification, inference, composition or aggregation, and defuzzification. The MAPE result obtained by the fuzzy Tsukomoto method is 6.91% and the accuracy level is 93.01%, which means that the fuzzy Tsukamoto method is very good at predicting the amount of production, so it can be used as a decision support system in determining the amount of bolu cake production in the Berkah Bolu Production House.

Abstract

Understanding geometric concepts, particularly angles in circles, is fundamental in junior high school mathematics and is crucial in enhancing students' higher-order thinking skills. Assessing students’ cognitive understanding requires valid and reliable instruments that align with curriculum standards and student abilities. This study aims to construct and characterise a cognitive test instrument on angle material in circles through item analysis using Classical Test Theory with Microsoft Excel and Modern Test Theory with RStudio. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative and quantitative techniques was used to collect data through observation and item analysis. The test instrument consists of five items to measure students’ understanding and analytical abilities. Content validation using the Aiken formula yielded an Aiken index of 1 for each item, indicating all items were valid. Classical analysis showed that items 1 and 3 were difficult, while items 2, 4, and 5 were of medium difficulty. Using the Partial Credit Model (PCM), all items fell within the medium-hard difficulty range. Power differential analysis revealed that item 3 was poorly constructed and should be removed. The results demonstrate that the developed instrument is valid and can differentiate levels of student understanding. This test is expected to support efforts to improve mathematics learning and better prepare students for numeracy literacy components in the Minimum Competency Assessment (MCA). The instrument also provides a framework for developing similar tools in other areas of mathematics education to enhance the accuracy of student learning evaluations.

Abstract

This study explores the Lagrange polynomial and Newton Gregory Forward polynomial interpolation methods in estimating new student enrollment trends in several study programs at the Faculty of Tarbiyah, IAIN Kediri. Historical data on new student enrollments over the past five years was analyzed. This research employs a quantitative approach with descriptive and comparative designs. The descriptive approach is used to depict new student enrollment trends, while the comparative approach compares the prediction accuracy between the two interpolation methods. The results indicate that the Gregory Forward interpolation generally provides more accurate results than the Lagrange interpolation, particularly for study programs such as Islamic Education Management and Arabic Language Education, as evidenced by lower MAE, MAPE, and RMSE values. However, the Lagrange interpolation performs better in some study programs, such as Indonesian Language Teaching and Natural Sciences Teaching. For example, the Lagrange interpolation for the Indonesian Language Teaching program has an MAE of 6.8, MAPE of 1%, and RMSE of 13.05, significantly lower than the Gregory Forward method. The conclusion of this study suggests that no single method is consistently superior for all study programs. Therefore, selecting the most appropriate interpolation method should be based on the specific data characteristics of each study program. This research contributes significantly to academic planning by providing a more accurate predictive model, which is expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of resource management at the Faculty of Tarbiyah, IAIN Kediri.
