Abstract

This article discusses the religious values contained in the Torch War folktale from Tegalsambi Village, Jepara. This story is not only part of the cultural heritage of the community, but also contains strong spiritual values, such as gratitude to God, the implementation of religious rituals, and the spirit of togetherness among residents. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach and used the hermeneutic method to explore the symbolic meaning and socio-religious role of the story. The findings indicate that the Torch War reflects a harmonious blend of local culture and Islamic values, known as Islam Nusantara. The religious values in this story play an important role in strengthening the identity of the community and maintaining harmony in everyday life. These values help preserve the local traditions while integrating religious practices, fostering unity, and ensuring the sustainability of cultural and spiritual life in the community. This study highlights how folklore serves as a medium for transmitting religious and cultural teachings across generations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of planting media on the growth of mung bean (Vigna radiata). The experimental research used three types of planting media: ordinary soil, compost, and rice bran, over a three-week period starting from April 1, 2025. Observations were made every three days to measure plant height and leaf count. The results showed that plants grown in compost media exhibited the fastest growth compared to those grown in ordinary soil and rice bran. At the end of the observation period, plants in compost reached 18.0 cm with 11 leaves, plants in ordinary soil reached 16.0 cm with 10 leaves, and those in rice bran reached 15.5 cm with 10 leaves. Plants in compost showed more consistent and significant growth throughout the observation period. Meanwhile, plants in ordinary soil and rice bran grew slower but still developed well. This study provides information about the effectiveness of different planting media in supporting mung bean growth. These findings can be applied to improve mung bean cultivation by selecting optimal planting media in various farming conditions.

Abstract

Speaking ability is an important aspect of early childhood language development. Speech delay is experienced by many children so that it has an impact on children's social, emotional, and cognitive development. The parenting style of parents is one of the main factors that also affect the presence of speech delays. These delays can be caused by a number of improper parenting, especially during early childhood development. This study aims to analyze the parenting relationship of parents. Delay in talking to a child is a major focus in the analysis. The qualitative descriptive method is a method used with a focus on the analysis of permissive, authoritarian, democratic parenting of children aged 4 and 5 years. The results of the study are expected to provide a clearer picture of the influence of parenting on the development of children's speech skills and become the basis for education for parents in implementing appropriate parenting.

Abstract

The art of music is a sound that is arranged in such a way that it contains rhythm, song, tone, and harmony, especially from the sound produced by instruments that can produce rhythm. This thesis is titled "A Study of the Form and Meaning of the Poetry of the Song Tenang Ende Geong by Efrem Jaru Manggarai East Nusa Tenggara". In this study the author uses a qualitative method. As for the problem that is researched, namely (1) What is the form of the song Tenang Ende Geong by Efrem Jaru Manggarai East Nusa Tenggara? (2) What is the meaning of the lyrics of the song Tenang Ende Geong by Efrem Jaru Manggarai East Nusa Tenggara, and its relaction in daily life?. The purpose of this research is to find out the Form and Meaning of Poetry in the song Tenang Ende Geong by Efrem Jaru in Manggarai East Nusa Tenggara. In the results of the analysis of the form and meaning of the lyrics of the song Tenang Ende Geong by Mr. Efrem Jaru, it is formed from musical elements supported by (sound, rhythm/rhythm, birama, harmony, melody, tempo, scale, dynamics, timbre, and expression) to form a very beautiful song. Based on the results of the researcher's interview, it can be concluded that Tenang Ende Geong's song has beauty and meaning, both from the language style, song lyrics, and the message conveyed by the songwriter that can be felt by listeners or connoisseurs of Tenang Ende Geong songs. In essence, the content and therefore of the song Tenang Ende Geong tells about a child's longing for a mother who has passed away.

Abstract

This study aims to foster creativity in elementary school students through a simple physics experiment activity called "A Balloon Pierced Without Popping." This activity is designed to provide a fun learning experience and encourage students to think scientifically through the process of trying and discovering basic physics concepts themselves. The study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The subjects were 25 third-grade students at one of the Islamic Elementary Schools (MI) Malik Ibrahim Jenggawah, who participated in the experiment activity for one meeting. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that the simple physics experiment activity was able to improve students' creativity, as seen from their courage in expressing ideas, making predictions, and finding solutions to problems that arose during the experiment. In addition, students showed a high level of curiosity and enthusiasm in participating in the learning process. Thus, the "Balloon Pierced Without Popping" experiment activity is effective in fostering creativity and interest in learning science in elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of a simple rotating energy medium, a mini windmill, in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning on Energy and Its Transformations in fourth-grade students at SDN Karangrejo 01 Jember. The research approach used was descriptive qualitative, involving teachers and fourth-grade students as research subjects. Data were collected through observations during learning activities, interviews with teachers regarding learning strategies and student responses, and documentation in the form of photographs, learning outcomes notes, and student worksheets. The results showed that the use of a mini windmill provided a concrete and easily understood learning experience for students. This medium helped students directly observe the process of energy conversion from wind energy to kinetic energy, thus enhancing the concept learned through abstraction. Furthermore, students appeared more enthusiastic, actively engaged in discussions, and were able to provide examples of energy transformations in everyday life. Thus, the use of a simple rotating energy medium has proven effective in enhancing understanding of energy concepts in elementary school IPAS learning.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the extent to which the application of a simple experimental method can help students understand the process of photosynthesis while also improving their learning outcomes. Based on field observations, some students appeared less active during the learning process and easily lost focus when learning was conducted solely thru the lecture method. Therefore, this research implements experimental-based learning activities so that students can be directly involved in the process of proving the concept. The research used a method involving two classes: IV A as the experimental group and IV B as the control group, each consisting of 29 students. Data was collected thru observation, interviews, documentation, and learning outcome tests. The data processing results showed a difference in outcomes between the pretest and posttest in both groups, with the experimental class achieving better learning outcome improvements. The t-test value of 32.470 with a significance level of 0.000 (p<0.05) confirms that the simple experimental method is capable of creating a more active learning environment, fostering learning interest, deepening understanding of photosynthetic concepts, and honing students' scientific thinking abilities and skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the “chemical reaction balloon” experiment in enhancing students’ understanding of the concept of changes in the states of matter among fifth-grade students at SD Jatisari 1, Jember. The study was motivated by the students’ limited conceptual understanding, which primarily results from teacher-centered instruction and the lack of hands-on learning experiences. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research focuses on the learning process and students’ interactions during the experiment. The activity involves a simple chemical reaction using baking soda and vinegar, which produces gas and inflates a balloon. This observable phenomenon serves as a tangible model to help students comprehend the transformation of matter from solid to liquid and gas. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the implementation of the chemical reaction balloon experiment improved students’ conceptual understanding of changes in the states of matter. Students demonstrated higher enthusiasm, active participation in discussions, and the ability to connect their observations with scientific concepts. Moreover, teachers gained valuable insights into the use of simple experimental methods as effective learning tools in elementary science education. In conclusion, the chemical reaction balloon experiment proved to be an effective learning method for improving conceptual understanding in science, particularly concerning changes in the states of matter. This method provides meaningful learning experiences and fosters scientific thinking through engaging, hands-on activities.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the speaking skills of elementary school students in Sukanagara Village, Tasikmalaya Regency through the application of the show and tell method. The background of the study stems from the problems of low student self-confidence, limited vocabulary, and passive participation when asked to speak in front of the class. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was carried out in two cycles with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through observation, documentation, and field notes focused on four indicators of speaking skills, namely fluency, courage, pronunciation, and vocabulary use. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students' speaking skills, from 31.25% at the initial condition to 93.75% at the end of Cycle I, and reaching 100% in Cycle II. In addition, students appeared more confident, more courageous in expressing opinions, and were able to construct sentences more appropriately according to the context. Thus, the show and tell method has proven effective in creating an active, enjoyable learning atmosphere and is able to optimally improve students' speaking skills.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the role of students from Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) in the 2025 community service program (KKN) in developing children's reading interest. The students created a reading corner in Jorong Harau, Nagari Harau, Lima Puluh Kota District. The study used a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The participants in this study were elementary school children, KKN students, teachers, parents, and community leaders, chosen on purpose. The research took place during the KKN period in July–August 2025.The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman (2018) model, which includes data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the students played an important role as facilitators and guides in literacy activities, such as guided reading, using interactive media, and giving learning motivation. These activities helped improve the children’s reading interest and skills. The success of the program did not only depend on the reading corner but also on good social interaction, support from parents and teachers, and program continuity. Triangulation was used to keep the data valid. This research shows that university students can be agents of change in building a reading culture in rural areas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami secara mendalam peran mahasiswa Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) tahun 2025 dalam mengembangkan minat baca anak-anak melalui pembentukan pojok baca di Jorong Harau, Nagari Harau, Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara mendalam, dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka. Subjek penelitian meliputi anak-anak usia sekolah dasar, mahasiswa KKN, guru, orang tua, dan tokoh masyarakat setempat yang dipilih secara purposive. Penelitian dilakukan selama masa KKN bulan Juli–Agustus 2025. Data dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman (2018) yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan aktif mahasiswa sebagai fasilitator dan pendamping dalam kegiatan literasi, seperti membaca terbimbing, penggunaan media interaktif, dan motivasi belajar, mampu meningkatkan minat dan kelancaran membaca anak. Keberhasilan ini tidak hanya bergantung pada fasilitas pojok baca, tetapi juga pada kualitas interaksi sosial, kolaborasi dengan orang tua dan guru, serta kesinambungan program. Teknik triangulasi digunakan untuk menjaga validitas data. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya peran mahasiswa sebagai agen perubahan dalam pengembangan budaya literasi berbasis komunitas di wilayah perdesaan.
