Abstract

This research discusses the Internalization of Universal Religious Values in developing Religious Moderation in Torue State Senior High Schools. This research examines the process of internalizing universal religious values in developing religious moderation and the impact of the results of internalizing universal religious values in developing religious moderation at State Senior High School Torue. This research uses a qualitative approach, and data is collected through observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and written document analysis. The results of this research show that four values are internalized in State Senior High School 1 Torue, namely, the value of justice, the value of tolerance, the value of humanity, and the value of peace. The process of internalizing universal religious values is carried out through several stages. The first stage is value transformation through awareness by understanding religious values. Next, the value transaction process involves direction, guidance, and examples for students to adhere to religious values. From the results of the transinternalization carried out, students have been able to apply the universal religious values that are instilled, including in the implementation of policies or regulations made by the school, providing encouragement to students to practice good values in their actions, following the good examples of the students and educators, as well as creating a harmonious environment in schools. The impact of internalizing religious values plays an essential role in forming the character of moderate, tolerant students who respect religious diversity, respect their elders, are disciplined, are used to differences, are used to practicing worship, are close to friends, and are socially concerned.

Abstract

Several incidents that have occurred in recent times in this country strongly suggest that differences are often used as a tool for provocation, leading to unnecessary tension and violence. Therefore, tolerance has become an urgent necessity that the Indonesian nation must prioritize by redefining attitudes of tolerance, particularly in the context of religion, appropriately within a pluralistic society. This thesis examines the implementation of tolerance culture by Islamic Education teachers towards students at State Senior High School 1 Poso. The findings reveal that the forms of tolerance practiced by teachers and students include helping peers in need, respecting those with different beliefs, refraining from disrupting peers performing religious rituals at school or outside school, visiting and praying for sick friends, and visiting social care homes of different religious backgrounds. The implementation of a tolerance culture by Islamic Education teachers at State Senior High School 1 Poso is carried out through teaching and setting examples for students to respect, care for, and appreciate diversity. This culture is integrated into the teaching-learning process both inside and outside the classroom. The impact of this tolerance culture is highly positive, fostering mutual respect and regard between students and teachers. It has created a safe, peaceful, comfortable, and conducive school environment, positively influencing the learning process. Based on these findings, the author recommends that the school principal, Islamic Education teachers, students, and all stakeholders work together to maintain and implement the culture of tolerance both within and beyond the school environment.

Abstract

This study examines the cultivation and strengthening of Islamic religious values at the Muallaf Center Indonesia Peduli (MCIP) in Central Sulawesi. The research focuses on three main problems: first, how Islamic religious values are cultivated at the MCIP; second, how the quality of these values is strengthened; and third, what supporting and inhibiting factors influence the cultivation and strengthening of Islamic religious values at the MCIP. The objectives of this study are to understand the methods used to cultivate Islamic religious values at the MCIP, to analyze the strengthening of their quality, and to identify the factors that support or hinder these efforts. The study adopts a qualitative approach with descriptive techniques for presenting data from informants. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The analysis process involved data reduction, presentation, verification, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the steps taken by the MCIP to cultivate and strengthen Islamic religious values align with established guidance theories. These include teaching, habituation, role modeling, motivation, and rule enforcement. The guidance process for new converts (muallaf) is implemented through structured programs. Furthermore, the study highlights that the implications of these efforts can be observed in the religious behaviors of the participants, which are consistent with Bloom’s taxonomy. Based on the findings, it is recommended that MCIP facilitators maintain the strategies currently used to cultivate and strengthen Islamic religious values. Additionally, they are encouraged to introduce innovative approaches to enhance the quality of guidance provided to new converts, ensuring better outcomes in the future.

The learning step of the jigsaw method consists of 6 activity steps, namely, the teacher divides the class into several study groups. Each group consists of 4-6 students. The teacher provides teaching material in text, which has been divided into several sub-materials for study by each group member. All groups study the teaching material that the teacher has given. Expert groups meet and discuss the material topics for which they are responsible. Expert group members return to their home groups to help their groups. Abstract

We now live in an era where, believing in and doing certain things are regarded by some sections of society, including students and graduates of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in Eastern Uganda, to be out of fashion and backward. Teachers of IRE are concerned about the inability of the subject to strengthen students’ faith and practice. But are their concerns justified, and if so, to what extent and under which contexts? This study sought to determine the influence of IRE learning experiences on Muslim students’ beliefs and practices. The population consisted of Senior Four and Six students from Eastern Uganda from which a sample of 890 was selected using multi-stage sampling. A questionnaire was used to collect data, which was analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and ANOVA. The relationship between students’ learning experiences and their beliefs was found not to be statistically significant; while that between learning experiences and their practices was statistically significant and moderate. A statistically significant difference in students’ practices among school types was also found, where students from Government Non-Muslim schools had the lowest while those from Private Islamic schools had the highest. It therefore is recommended that Islamic extra-curricular activities be organized for students to boost their knowledge and skills.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) has an important role in instilling Islamic values in students. However, in practice, PAI learning is often less associated with local social and cultural realities inherent in students' lives. Integration of local culture into PAI materials is an important strategy to make learning more contextual, meaningful, and close to students' daily lives. Local culture that is full of moral values such as mutual cooperation, tolerance, politeness, and responsibility can be used as an entry point in introducing Islamic concepts. This paper discusses the importance of integrating local culture as a means to strengthen Islamic values in the educational environment. Through a contextual and dialogical approach, PAI learning becomes more inclusive and is able to shape students' characters that are rooted in Islamic values while loving their own culture. In addition, cultural integration also contributes to the preservation of local identity in accordance with Islamic principles. Innovation from teachers and policy support are needed so that this process can run effectively and sustainably. Thus, cultural integration into PAI materials is a strategic step to create education that is inclusive and relevant to the socio-cultural context of students. Collaborative efforts from various parties are needed to overcome existing challenges and optimize the potential of this integration in Islamic Religious Education learning.

Abstract

This article aims to develop gamification-based learning media in learning Islamic Cultural History (SKI) in phase D (equivalent to classes VII and IX MTs) using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model. The focus of the discussion is on analyzing development needs which include identifying media needs in learning, student characteristics, and the nature of SKI material through observation, interview and document review techniques. The results revealed that SKI learning is considered boring due to monotonous conventional methods, while students are more interested in visual and narrative material such as the historical story of the Prophet Muhammad, despite having difficulty with complex material such as the development of Islam in the archipelago; both teachers and students appreciate the potential of gamification media with elements of levels, challenges, rewards, and leaderboards to increase motivation and learning engagement. The research conclusion shows that gamification-based media can be an innovative solution to create more interesting, interactive, and meaningful SKI learning while integrating Islamic values and 21st century skills, so further development is recommended to ensure its effectiveness and sustainability in various learning contexts.
