Borneo Journal of Islamic Education (e-2775-6548) is the Journal published by Faculty of Education and Teacher Training of UINSI Samarinda, Indonesia. It is a peer-reviewed open access journal in the fields of Islamic Education. The publication of an article in Borneo Journal of Islamic Education is an essential building block in the development of a respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editors, the peer reviewers, and the publisher. The journal is published twice a year in June and December. It was firstly published in 2021.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to comprehensively examine the impact of individual aspects on second language (L2) acquisition. The effectiveness of the teaching and learning process is significantly influenced by the cognitive, emotional, and motivational traits of learners. This study, based on chapter 10 of Rod Ellis's book Language Teaching Research and Language Pedagogy, seeks to investigate how elements such as language aptitude, working memory, language anxiety, and willingness to speak influence the effectiveness of teaching in second language (L2) learning. This study employs a qualitative methodology utilizing a literature review approach. Data is gathered and examined using content analysis techniques based on the Krippendorf framework. The study findings suggest that these individual variables have a major impact on learners' reactions to teaching, as well as the specific learning outcomes attained, particularly in certain instructional circumstances. These findings highlight the significance of an individualized pedagogical approach, wherein educators must take into account the distinctive attributes of each student in order to maximize the learning process and attain superior outcomes in second language acquisition. Keywords: Individual factors, Second language acquisition, Rod Ellis Abstrak Penelitian ini berangkat dari kebutuhan untuk memahami secara mendalam peran faktor individu dalam pembelajaran bahasa kedua (L2), yang mana keberhasilan proses belajar-mengajar sangat dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik kognitif, afektif, dan motivasional peserta didik. Dengan merujuk pada bab 10 dari buku Language Teaching Research and Language Pedagogy karya Rod Ellis, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana faktor-faktor seperti aptitude bahasa, memori kerja, kecemasan berbahasa, dan kesiapan untuk berkomunikasi memediasi efektivitas instruksi dalam pembelajaran L2. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka, di mana data dikumpulkan dan dianalisis melalui teknik analisis isi berdasarkan kerangka Krippendorf. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor individu ini secara signifikan memengaruhi respons peserta didik terhadap instruksi, serta hasil belajar yang dicapai, terutama dalam konteks instruksi yang spesifik. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya pendekatan pengajaran yang dipersonalisasi, di mana guru perlu mempertimbangkan karakteristik unik setiap peserta didik untuk mengoptimalkan proses pembelajaran dan mencapai hasil yang lebih baik dalam pembelajaran bahasa kedua. Abstract

Rendahnya minat belajar siswa SDN 013 Palaran pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam diindikasikan dengan sikap bermalas-malasan dalam mengerjakan tugas, serta pasifnya kegiatan tanya-jawab siswa dan guru membuat materi pembelajaran tidak dapat dipahami dengan baik, sehingga peran guru Pendidikan Agama Islam benar-benar penting untuk mengatasi hal tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi peran guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam meningkatkan minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam di SDN 013 Palaran. Penelitian ini berupa deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. narasumber dalam penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, guru Pendidikan Agama Islam, dan siswa SDN 013 Palaran. Analisis data menggunakan konsep Miles, Huberman, & Saldaña dengan tahapan data condensation, data display, dan drawing conclusion. Keabsahan data menggunakan diuji dengan triangulasi sumber dan teori. Hasil penelitian ini membahas upaya-upaya guru Pendidikan Agama Islam untuk meningkatkan minat belajar siswa melalui berbagai pembiasaan, yang mana upaya-upaya tersebut terbagi dalam lima peran guru, yaitu 1) Motivator; 2) Sumber belajar; 3) Pembimbing; 4) Fasilitator, dan; 5) Pengelola.

Abstract

Abstract This research was motivated by the suboptimal implementation of learning related to the History of Islamic Civilization. In fact, this learning approach has the potential to educate students' character. The implementation of history learning is expected to improve by using appropriate learning methods. This study recommends the use of gamification learning accompanied by video media. The objectives of this study are 1) to analyze students' knowledge of the history of Islamic civilization before and after receiving gamification learning with video media, and 2) to evaluate the effect of gamification learning and video media on students' knowledge of Islamic civilization. This quantitative experimental research was designed with a non-equivalent control group design with one class each in the control and experimental classes. Both received pre-tests and post-tests. The experimental class received gamification learning with video media, while the control class followed the learning usually applied by the teacher. Data collection techniques were tests, interviews and observations. The main data were in the form of test results which were analyzed to test the hypothesis with the Independent Sample T-Test. The results of the analysis stated that students' knowledge of the History of Islamic Civilization increased significantly with the implementation of gamification learning with video media compared to conventional learning with direct provision of materials by the teacher. Keywords: Gamification Learning, Video Media, Knowledge of Islamic Cultural History Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh belum optimalnya pelaksanaan pembelajaran terkait Sejarah Peradaban Islam. Padahal, pendekatan pembelajaran tersebut berpotensi untuk mendidik karakter siswa. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran sejarah diharapkan dapat ditingkatkan dengan menggunakan metode pembelajaran yang tepat. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penggunaan pembelajaran gamifikasi disertai media video. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah 1) menganalisis pengetahuan siswa tentang sejarah peradaban Islam sebelum dan sesudah menerima pembelajaran gamifikasi dengan media video, dan 2) mengevaluasi pengaruh pembelajaran gamifikasi dan media video terhadap pengetahuan siswa tentang peradaban Islam. Penelitian kuantitatif eksperimen ini berdesain non-equivalent control group design dengan kelas kontrol dan eksperimen masing-masing satu kelas Keduanya mendapatkan pre-test dan post-test. Kelas eksperimen menerima pembelajaran gamifikasi dengan media video, sedangkan kelas kontrol mengikuti pembelajaran yang biasa diterapkan oleh guru. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah tes, wawancara dan observasi. Data utama berupa hasil tes yang dianalisis untuk menguji hipotesis dengan Independent Sample T-Test. Hasil analisis menyatakan bahwa pengetahuan siswa tentang Sejarah Peradaban Islam meningkat secara signifikan dengan implementasi pembelajaran gamifikasi dengan media video dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional dengan pemberian materi secara langsung oleh guru. Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using Wordwall media to enhance students' learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education & Character Education at SMA Negeri 1 Loa Janan. This research is motivated by the low utilization of technology-based learning media and the students' habit of playing online games during breaks, which contributes to learning boredom, as revealed by a survey showing that 60.6% of students in class X.4 felt bored. This study employs a quantitative approach using a Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest design, involving 30 students selected using Simple Purposive Sampling. Data collection was carried out through tests, questionnaires, observations, and documentation, and analyzed through the Wilcoxon test, confirming a significant increase in learning motivation. Results showed a significant increase in learning motivation (Asymp. Sig. 0.000 < 0.05), supporting the effectiveness of Wordwall media in this context. The average increase in pretest and posttest scores was 13.00, with a total increase of 325.00. Additionally, the questionnaire results showed that learning motivation was in the effective category with an average score of 4.10, and field observations confirmed positive student responses. Thus, Wordwall media has proven to be effective in enhancing students' learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education & Character Education at SMA Negeri 1 Loa Janan. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya pemanfaatan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi serta kebiasaan siswa bermain game online saat istirahat yang menyebabkan kejenuhan dalam pembelajaran, sebagaimana terungkap dari survei yang menunjukkan bahwa 60,6% siswa di kelas X.4 merasa bosan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain Pre Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest dan sampel berjumlah 30 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik Simple Purposive Sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes, angket, observasi, dan dokumentasi, dan dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan motivasi belajar yang signifikan dengan nilai Asymp. Sig. 0,000 < 0,05, yang berarti hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Rata-rata peningkatan skor pretest dan posttest adalah 13,00 dengan total peningkatan sebesar 325,00. Selain itu, hasil angket menunjukkan motivasi belajar berada pada kategori efektif dengan skor rata-rata 4,10, dan observasi di lapangan mengonfirmasi respon positif siswa. Media Wordwall efektif meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam & Budi Pekerti di SMA Negeri 1 Loa Janan. Abstract

Abstract This research aims to determine and analyze the concept of Religious Moderation values ​​in the Islamic Boarding School environment and how these values ​​are applied in the practice of life at the Islamic Boarding School. School. In addition, this article focuses on the research period (2020-2024, especially field research at IBS, by obtaining 27 article documents. This research is a type of “systematic literature review” (SLR) methodology with a qualitative approach. “Google Scholar” and “ScienceDirect”. We then performed a bibliometric analysis to understand the bibliographic landscape in this research topic area through “Publish or Perish” (PoP), which was imported into the application “VOSviever.” The findings of trends in religious moderation values ​​in Islamic boarding schools include: (1) tasamuh (tolerance), (2) tawazun (balance), (3) i’tidal (justice). (4) musawah (equality), (5) tahaddur (civilized), (6) syura (deliberation), (7) qudwah (leadership), (8) ishlah (reform), (9) qudwah (pioneering), (10) muwathanah (love for the homeland), (11) al- la’unf (without violence), (12) i’tiraf al-‘urf (culture friendly), and (13) tatawwur wa ibtikar (dynamic and innovative). All of these values ​​are applied in life practices to strengthen the main indicators to create the values ​​of (1) national commitment, (2) non-violence, (3) tolerance, and (4) acceptance of local traditions. Apart from that, Islamic boarding schools also teach openness to local traditions as long as they do not conflict with Islamic values to create a balance between religious teachings and local wisdom. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) Penerapan strategi kepemimpinan transformasional untuk mendukung keberhasilan kurikulum merdeka di SMPN 1 Anggana. (2) Faktor yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan implementasi kurikulum merdeka di bawah kepemimpinan kepala sekolah. (3) Hambatan dan solusi yang dialami guru di SMPN 1 Anggana. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Penelitian kualitatif juga dikenal sebagai penelitian interpretatif, penelitian naturalistik, atau penelitian fenomenologis. Ini adalah jenis penelitian yang bersifat deskriptif dan biasanya menggunakan pendekatan analisis induktif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah mampu mendukung terlaksananya pembelajaran kurikulum merdeka. Dengan strategi yang digunakan kepala sekolah implementasi kurikulum merdeka dapat berjalan dengan baik. Hambatan yang terjadi dapat diatasi oleh kepala sekolah dengan mengadakan komunikasi dengan guru, orang tua dan steakholder yang ada di sekolah.

Abstract

Teacher’s religious identity or personal faith is significantly associated with their professional identity and teaching practice in the classroom. The purpose of this study is to narrate a Muslim English teacher’s views on how religious beliefs influence the teacher’s identity and practices in teaching English. Employing autoethnography research design, I explored my experience and perspectives since I was an English learner, then a student-teacher, an English teacher at an Islamic school, and a lecturer at a college using personal experience narration. In this article, I acknowledge that my perspectives about my professional identity as an English teacher are shaped locally and globally, influenced by religious beliefs, experiences, education, and formal and informal interaction with colleagues around me. This study gives insight into the influences of a Muslim English teacher’s religious beliefs on identity as an English teacher and practices in teaching English.

Abstract

This study aims to identify obstacles and support in financing education faced by students of the PIAUD Study Program at UINSI Samarinda. Although the number of students is increasing, significant financial challenges hinder their learning process and academic motivation. Qualitative methods were used to explore students' subjective experiences through in-depth interviews with 19 purposively selected participants. The selection of participants was based on students who had sources of financing from parents, scholarships, independent financing, and a combination of parental and scholarship costs, which included students in semesters 1, 3, 5, and 7. The findings showed that the main obstacles consisted of high dependence on parents, minimal information about scholarships, and application procedures that were considered complicated and non-transparent. These obstacles have an impact on difficulties in meeting tuition fees and accessing the necessary academic facilities. However, support through scholarship programs provides financial relief and is a key factor in supporting the sustainability of student studies. This study recommends improvements in the socialization of information about financing programs, simplification of scholarship application procedures, and development of more alternative financial assistance to support students in facing the challenges of financing education.

Abstract

Abstract Learning media is one of the most important components in the teaching and learning process. Therefore, the researcher intends to develop a web-based learning media using Genially with an e-learning model on the theme "Zakat in Islam" for senior high school level at MAN 1 Plus Keterampilan Bengkalis. The methodology used in this research is Research and Development (R&D), involving 30 teachers and 50 students from class X. Data collection was conducted directly by the researcher by explaining the Genially media and then asking respondents to answer questions and assess the quality of the media. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The research findings indicate that the design, interactivity, and material relevance components, as assessed by the teachers, fall into the "Very Good" category, while the average score of students is 4.7 on a 5-point scale, also categorized as "Very Good." Therefore, it can be concluded that the Genially-based e-learning media has very good quality according to the evaluations of both teachers and students. Thus, this media can be used as an effective alternative in teaching Islamic Religious Education, particularly on the topic of zakat. Untuk itu, peneliti ingin mengembangkan media pembelajaran berbasis web Genially menggunakan model e-learning dengan tema "Zakat dalam Islam" untuk tingkat SMA di MAN 1 Plus Keterampilan Bengkalis. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan melibatkan 30 orang guru dan siswa kelas X sebanyak 50 orang. Proses pengambilan data dilakukan secara langsung oleh peneliti dengan menjelaskan media Genially, kemudian meminta responden untuk menjawab pertanyaan dan menilai kualitas media tersebut. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai komponen desain, interaktivitas, dan relevansi materi yang dinilai oleh guru berada dalam kategori "Sangat Setuju", sedangkan nilai rata-rata siswa sebesar 4,7 dari skala 5 dengan kategori "Sangat Setuju". Maka, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media Genially berbasis model e-learning memiliki kualitas sangat baik menurut penilaian guru dan siswa. Jadi, media ini dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif yang efektif dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam, khususnya pada materi zakat. Abstract

Transformasi digital telah memberikan dampak signifikan pada berbagai aspek kehidupan, termasuk dalam manajemen pendidikan Islam. Salah satu inovasi teknologi utama adalah kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence/AI), yang berpotensi mendefinisikan ulang proses manajemen berbasis nilai-nilai Islam. Artikel ini mengeksplorasi bagaimana AI dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi operasional, personalisasi pembelajaran, dan pengambilan keputusan strategis dalam pendidikan Islam. Namun, penerapannya menghadapi tantangan seperti kesenjangan digital, kesiapan sumber daya manusia, dan integrasi nilai-nilai Islam. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan studi literatur, penelitian ini menganalisis peran, manfaat, serta hambatan implementasi AI. Artikel ini merekomendasikan kolaborasi antara pemangku kepentingan dan investasi dalam infrastruktur serta pelatihan untuk memastikan implementasi AI yang efektif, etis, dan sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip Islam. Diharapkan, melalui pemanfaatan AI yang bijak, manajemen pendidikan Islam mampu bertransformasi guna menciptakan generasi Islam yang berkualitas tanpa meninggalkan nilai-nilai fundamental agama.
