Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the value added generated from processing oil palm sap into palm sugar in Silau Rakyat Village, Sei Rampah Sub-district, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The study is motivated by the potential utilization of oil palm sap as an alternative raw material for palm sugar and the need to increase the value added of plantation commodities through agroindustrial activities. A case study approach was applied to two household-scale agroindustries with different production scales, namely Ms. Yuyun’s agroindustry with a larger production volume and Ms. Ritawati’s agroindustry with a smaller production volume. The analysis employed a quantitative approach using the Hayami value-added analysis method to calculate value added, value added ratios, and profits based on input–output relationships, labor use, and other supporting inputs in the production process. The results show that Ms. Yuyun’s agroindustry generates a value added of IDR 6,598.63 per kilogram with a value added ratio of 53.17% and a profit of IDR 5,758.63 per kilogram, while Ms. Ritawati’s agroindustry generates a value added of IDR 4,838.56 per kilogram with a value added ratio of 47.43% and a profit of IDR 4,138.56 per kilogram. Although both agroindustries are classified as having high value added ratios because they exceed 40%, the agroindustry with a larger production scale generates higher value added and profits. These findings indicate that production scale and efficiency in input utilization play an important role in increasing the economic value of oil palm sap palm sugar, highlighting its potential for development as a rural-based agroindustry. Abstract

Strawberries (Fragaria sp.) are a high-value horticultural commodity, yet marketing performance in Dolat Rayat Village, Karo Regency remains far from optimal. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the 7P marketing mix (Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, and Physical Evidence) applied by strawberry farmers in Dolat Rayat Village, Karo Regency. The research was conducted from October to November 2025. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and field observations of 13 farmers selected through purposive non-probability sampling based on the largest land area criteria (0.5 ha and 0.7 ha) from a total population of 92 farmers. Data analysis used the qualitative descriptive method with Miles and Huberman's (1994) interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, verified through triangulation. Results show that the product element demonstrates relative strength: farmers use the mencir variety producing large fruit (diameter 3-4 cm, weight 15-25 grams), consistent sweet taste, and shelf life of 2-3 days at room temperature and 5-7 days refrigerated, with optimal adaptation to local climate conditions. The place element is also favorable, with gardens located strategically along the main village road with good vehicle accessibility. However, the remaining five elements remain underdeveloped.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are an economic sector that plays a crucial role in supporting community economic growth, particularly in the food industry. One of the businesses operating in this sector is Bolu Susu Bunda Lisa in Dewantara District, North Aceh Regency, which produces various types of cakes such as milk sponge cake, banana cake, coconut cake, and bhoi, using wheat flour, eggs, sugar, and other supporting ingredients as the main raw materials. The decline in production since 2022, caused by rising raw material prices that were not followed by adjustments in selling prices, has led to a decrease in production volume and has affected both income and business efficiency. This study aims to analyze the profitability level of Bolu Susu Bunda Lisa using cost analysis, revenue, profit, Break Even Point (BEP), Margin of Safety (MOS), and Margin Income Ratio (MIR) approaches. The results show that the milk sponge cake product has a total production cost of Rp. 1,369,382.69 per production process, generating a profit of Rp. 340,617.31 with a profitability level of 20%. The coconut cake product has a total production cost of Rp. 424,438.56, with a profit of Rp. 85,561.44 and a profitability of 16.72%. The banana cake product has a total production cost of Rp. 428,570.73, generating a profit of Rp. 101,429.27 with a profitability level of 19.19%. Meanwhile, the bhoi product has a total production cost of Rp. 198,292.20, with a profit of Rp. 71,707.80 and the highest profitability level of 26.54%. Although all cake products contribute to the business revenue, there are differences in efficiency and profitability levels influenced by the production cost structure of each product. Products with lower production costs tend to have higher profitability levels compared to those with higher production costs, even if they generate greater revenue. This is due to differences in raw material usage, production processes, and cost efficiency for each type of product. Based on these findings, Bolu Susu Bunda Lisa business is still considered profitable and feasible for further development Keywords: BEP, Cake Business, MIR, MOS, MSMEs, Profitability.

Abstract

The sustainability of potato farming in the highlands faces challenges due to less environmentally friendly conventional cultivation practices and suboptimal productivity. The adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) is an approach to improving business performance while supporting sustainability. This study aims to analyze the level of GAP adoption, the level of business sustainability of potato cultivation, and the effect of GAP adoption on business sustainability in Garut Regency. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of 125 potato farmers selected using proportionate stratified random sampling. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that the level of GAP adoption was in the high category (50.2%). However, several components, such as the use of certified seeds, soil management, balanced fertilization, and integrated pest control remains suboptimal due to constraints such as cost, input availability, and cultivation practices. The level of business sustainability was also in the high category (50.4%), with the environmental aspect showing the highest achievement. The adoption of GAP had a positive and significant effect on business sustainability with an R² value of 0.367, indicating that GAP was able to explain 36.7% of the variation in business sustainability. These results confirm that GAP adoption plays a crucial role in supporting the sustainability of potato farming. However, support from other factors beyond the technical aspects of cultivation is still needed. The implications of this research encourage the systematic and ongoing strengthening of GAP support to ensure the sustainability of potato farming in the Garut highlands.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of manual and digital sounding methods on the accuracy of diesel fuel (BBM) stock at PT. Brahma Bina Bakti Karet. The development of sensor-based digital technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) encourages the use of automatic measurement systems that are considered more efficient and accurate than manual methods. This study uses a comparative quantitative approach with a field experiment design, where both methods are applied to the same tank at almost the same time. The data analyzed include fuel volume and measurement time, then compared with reference data from the SAP system. The results show that the manual method produces an average volume of 1,267 liters with a difference of 301 liters and a time of 205 seconds, while the digital method produces an average volume of 1,269 liters with a difference of 303 liters and a time of 5 seconds. The results of the paired t-test show a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, which means there is a significant difference between the two methods. Although the level of accuracy is relatively the same, the digital method is superior in time efficiency and consistency of results, making it more effective in fuel stock management.
