Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is one of the essential competencies that students must master. However, initial observations at SMP Negeri 1 Hiliduho revealed that students’ problem-solving skills are still relatively low, and Project Based Learning (PjBL)-based teaching materials have not yet been applied in the school. This study aims to develop a PjBL-based instructional module that is valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving ability. The research was conducted using a development approach with the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Research instruments consisted of expert validation questionnaires, practicality questionnaires for teachers and students, and a problem-solving test. The data collected were both qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data were obtained from comments, suggestions, and feedback provided by validators, while quantitative data were derived from the results of validation scores, teacher and student responses, and students’ test results. The research findings showed that the developed learning module was highly valid, as evidenced by validation scores of 98% and 99% from two content experts, 96% from the language expert, and 98% from the design expert. The module was also considered highly practical, with a score of 90.63% from students and 93% from the teacher. Furthermore, the module proved effective in enhancing students’ mathematical problem-solving skills, with an average score of 80.25 (high category) and classical completeness of 83.33% (high category). In conclusion, the PjBL-based module developed in this study fulfilled the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness, thus supporting the achievement of learning objectives.

Abstract

Initial observations at SMP Negeri 3 Alasa Talumuzoi revealed that students’ critical thinking skills were very low, and the available teaching materials were limited and highly dependent on the teacher. To address these issues, this study aimed to develop a problem-based learning (PBL) module that is valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills. The research employed a development design using the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection instruments comprised learning outcome tests, validation questionnaires from material, language, and design experts, as well as teacher and student response questionnaires. Both quantitative and qualitative data were analyzed: quantitative data included validator scores, student and teacher responses, and learning outcomes, while qualitative data consisted of comments and suggestions on the developed module. The results demonstrated that the PBL module met validity criteria for content, language, and design. It was highly practical, with a student practicality score of 96% and a teacher practicality score of 92.8%. Furthermore, the module effectively improved students’ critical thinking skills, achieving an average score of 80.20%, categorized as very high, and a classical mastery percentage of 91.66%, categorized as very effective. In conclusion, the developed problem-based learning module fulfilled the research objectives and provides a reliable, practical, and effective tool for enhancing students’ critical thinking skills in mathematics.

Abstract

This study was motivated by observations at UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Selatan, which indicated that students’ creative thinking skills were very low and the available teaching materials were limited. Students often struggled to understand the material and relied heavily on the teacher, highlighting the need for more effective learning resources. The purpose of this research was to develop a Problem Posing-based learning module that is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students’ creative thinking skills. This study employed a development research design using the ADDIE model, comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Data were collected using learning outcomes tests, validation questionnaires, and student response questionnaires, encompassing both quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data included validator scores, student responses, teacher feedback, and learning outcomes, while qualitative data comprised comments and suggestions from validators. The results showed that the developed module met validity criteria for content, language, and design. It was highly practical, with student practicality at 91.18% and teacher practicality at 96.42%. Furthermore, the module effectively improved students’ creative thinking, achieving an average score of 81.56%, categorized as very creative. In conclusion, the Problem Posing-based learning module successfully fulfilled the research objectives, providing a reliable, practical, and effective tool to support the development of students’ creative thinking skills in mathematics.

Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir geometri dalam memecahkan masalah merupakan kemampuan dasar yang sangat krusial dimiliki oleh mahasiswa pada mata kuliah geometri dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat berpikir geometri mahasiswa pada mata kuliah geometri dasar materi bangun ruang dalam pemecahan masalah berdasarkan teori Van Hiele. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Jurusan Matematika, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Negeri Makassar pada semester genap tahun 2024/2025. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Jurusan Matematika yang sedang memprogramkan mata kuliah geometri dasar dan diambil sebanyak 3 orang yaitu mahasiswa dengan kemampuan matematika tinggi, mahasiswa dengan kemampuan matematika sedang, dan mahasiswa dengan kemampuan matematika rendah. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling dengan menetapkan kriteria untuk memilih subjek penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis dan wawancara. Selanjutnya data dianalisis secara kualitatif dengan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil yang didapatkan pada penelitian yaitu mahasiswa dengan kemampuan matematika tinggi memenuhi tingkatan pengenalan, analisis, pengurutan, pra deduksi dan pra rigor. Selanjutnya mahasiswa dengan kemampuan matematika sedang mencapai tingkatan pengenalan, analisis, dan pra pengurutan. Sedangkan mahasiswa dengan kemampuan matematika rendah mencapai tingkatan pengenalan dan pra analisis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi berdasarkan hasil studi pendahuluan yang dilakukan peneliti di UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Moro’o. Ditemukan masalah yaitu (1) kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa masih kurang (2) kemampuan awal siswa belum optimal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektifitas connected mathematics project terhadap kemampuan koneksi matematis ditinjau dari kemampuan awal UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Moro’o. Populasi penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII dan sampel penelian terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu kelas VIII-A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII-B sebagai kelas kontrol di UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Moro’o yang berjumlah 57 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik Nonprobability sampling. Jenis penelitan ini adalah kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi eksperimen design), dan instrumen penelitian ini berbentuk uraian kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa. Hasil rata-rata tes dari kelas eksperimen diperoleh sebesar 71,75 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 59,57. Hasil ini menunjukan adanya peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang dilihat dari rata-rata tes awal kelas eksperimen diperoleh sebesar 50,24 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 46,14. Dengan demikian, penggunaan model Connected Mathematics Project secara tepat oleh guru dan siswa dapat meningkatkan kemampuan koneksi matematis secara aktif, kreatif, dan kontekstual.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara self-efficacy matematis dan prestasi belajar matematika siswa SMA Negeri 11 Makassar. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya capaian matematika siswa Indonesia berdasarkan PISA 2022 yang menegaskan pentingnya faktor afektif dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional dengan desain survei. Sampel terdiri dari 40 siswa kelas XI yang dipilih secara purposive. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner self-efficacy matematis berbasis indikator Bandura dan nilai ujian matematika, kemudian dianalisis dengan regresi linear sederhana menggunakan SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara self-efficacy matematis dan prestasi belajar matematika. Secara teoretis, temuan ini memperkuat Social Cognitive Theory Bandura, sedangkan secara praktis memberikan rekomendasi agar guru meningkatkan self-efficacy siswa melalui pengalaman belajar yang bermakna, umpan balik positif, dan pengelolaan kecemasan matematika. Keterbatasan penelitian terletak pada sampel yang kecil dan cakupan terbatas, sehingga disarankan penelitian lanjutan memperluas populasi, menambahkan variabel mediasi, dan menggunakan analisis yang lebih komprehensif seperti SEM.

Abstract

The difficulties experienced by students in learning geometric rotation material generally stem from their limited conceptual understanding and the lack of engaging, interactive learning media. These challenges lead to low conceptual comprehension and suboptimal learning outcomes. Therefore, an innovative solution is required through the development of technology-based learning applications capable of presenting material sequentially, visually, and interactively. This study aims to develop, determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of Android-based R-Geo learning media to enhance students’ conceptual understanding and interest in geometric rotation topics at the high school level. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The feasibility of the R-Geo media was analyzed using the chi-squared technique, while practicality was assessed through student questionnaires and teacher observation sheets. The effectiveness test involved normality analysis using the Shapiro-Wilk test, followed by a one-shot t-test to examine significant differences after implementation. The results showed that R-Geo media met the criteria of being feasible, practical, and effective in supporting geometry learning. The media provides an interactive and appealing learning experience, enabling teachers to explain rotation concepts more dynamically and visually. Consequently, R-Geo can strengthen students’ comprehension of abstract rotation concepts and foster higher learning engagement. It is recommended that teachers integrate Android-based R-Geo media with various learning strategies to optimize learning outcomes and enhance student motivation in studying geometry.

Abstract

Water pollution caused by persistent organic compounds such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) has become a serious environmental issue due to their toxicity, recalcitrance, and potential carcinogenic effects. Membrane technology offers an effective solution; however, its performance is often limited by fouling. This study aims to optimize the antifouling properties of cellulose acetate (CA) membranes through chitosan coating (CA/CS) and to evaluate their mechanical, physical, filtration, and antifouling performance. CA membranes were fabricated via the phase inversion method and subsequently coated with chitosan at concentrations of 2%, 5%, and 7%. Characterization included mechanical testing (tensile strength and elastic modulus), physical properties (water contact angle, swelling index, and water permeability), filtration performance (pure water flux and PAH rejection), and antifouling properties (Fouling Deposition Ratio/FDR and Flux Recovery Ratio/FRR). The results showed that chitosan coating enhanced the hydrophilicity, mechanical strength, water permeability, and PAH rejection compared to pristine CA membranes. The optimum performance was achieved at CA/CS 5%, which exhibited the highest tensile strength and elastic modulus, lowest water contact angle, maximum swelling index and permeability, highest flux, PAH rejection up to 88%, and the best antifouling properties (FDR 20% and FRR 82%). In conclusion, chitosan-coated cellulose acetate membranes significantly improved filtration efficiency and fouling resistance. The CA/CS 5% membrane demonstrates strong potential for practical application in the treatment of PAH-contaminated water in an effective and sustainable manner.

Abstract

The development of problem-solving skills in prospective chemistry teachers is a fundamental aspect of education. This study aims to review pedagogical strategies and curriculum design that cultivate problem-solving in undergraduate chemistry teachers. This literature review uses three main steps: 1) Comprehensive Search Strategy to identify relevant studies related to pedagogical strategies and curriculum design; 2) Screen and Select Relevant Studies based on criteria relevant to problem-solving development; and 3) Synthesize and Analyze Findings to systematically combine and interpret selected data to produce a deeper and more comprehensive understanding. The results of the literature review indicate: 1) Effective pedagogical strategies include computer-based learning, guided inquiry, and context-based learning. 2) Curriculum designs such as innovative teaching programs, vocational learning, and laboratory curricula by integrating technology. Collaborative curriculum models and virtual learning systems based on constructivism are essential. Pedagogical strategies and holistic curriculum designs that focus on developing critical and adaptive individuals are essential to equip prospective chemistry teachers with complex problem-solving skills.

Abstract

E-modules have become an effective technology-based learning medium in 21st century education, offering flexibility, interactivity, and support for independent learning, especially in science education where abstract concepts require visualization. However, research on e-modules in Indonesia remains fragmented across journals, resulting in a lack of clarity regarding research trends and directions. This study aims to map and analyze research trends on e-modules in science education published in SINTA-indexed journals within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM). This study employs a literature review method with content analysis of 17 articles published between 2020 and 2024. The findings indicate a growing interest in e-module since 2022, with most studies adopting Research and Development (R&D) approaches using the ADDIE model and quantitative quasi-experimental designs. The main research subjects were expert, teachers, and high school students. The primary instruments used included questionnaires, test, and validation sheets. Data analyses commonly included Gregory’s validity test, practicality tests, N-Gain, and t-tests. Most used or developed e-modules were web-based, particularly in physics and chemistry. Research is still centered in Sulawesi, reflecting the journal’s regional scope. In conclusion, e-module research in science education shows a positive trend, contributing significantly to improving students’ academic performance, motivation, and reading interest, though it remains limited in scope and methodology. Therefore, future studies should broaden coverage across Indonesia, employ more diverse methodologies, and emphasize interactive e-module development to enhance the quality of science learning.
