Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in Indonesia's economy, particularly in the tourism area of Pantai Panjang, Bengkulu. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the development of MSMEs in this region, focusing on their potential, challenges, and the impact of the tourism sector on business sustainability. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through in-depth interviews and field surveys with MSME actors, tourists, and local communities. The findings reveal that MSMEs in Pantai Panjang have significant potential, especially in the fields of culinary, souvenirs, and handicrafts. However, they face challenges such as limited managerial skills, marketing capabilities, infrastructure, and access to capital. The COVID-19 pandemic also had a substantial impact on this sector, although some MSME actors successfully adapted by utilizing digital technology. The study suggests the need for government and tourism sector support in the form of skill training, capital access, and infrastructure development to ensure the sustainability and growth of MSMEs in the Pantai Panjang tourism area.

Abstract

Hokkian Soup Ikan, an SME in Batam, Indonesia, has been serving authentic Hokkien-style fish soup since 2003. Despite its popularity, it faces challenges in digital marketing, such as limited skills, time constraints, and adapting to changing algorithms, which hinder business growth. This community service project addressed these issues by implementing digital marketing strategies, including improving Instagram content, organizing a Linktree page, and optimizing the Google Maps profile. As a result, the business gained 100 new Instagram followers, received more positive reviews on Google Maps, and improved its online presence. These outcomes demonstrate how targeted digital marketing strategies can help SMEs enhance visibility, attract customers, and utilize technology to remain competitive, even with limited resources.

Abstract

The adoption of information technology, particularly e-commerce, is a strategic solution to address marketing challenges in the digital transformation era. In Burai Village, e-commerce implementation remains limited, necessitating assistance to empower the community in utilizing e-commerce for marketing and enhancing entrepreneurial capacity. The program began with a needs assessment, analyzing community requirements and potentials, followed by resource and budget planning. Implementation involved the community in creating online stores, optimizing promotional features like live streaming, managing inventory, and generating shipping labels. The program concluded with an evaluation phase. Results showed increased e-commerce knowledge among the community, a higher number of e-commerce account owners, and improved skills in using platform features. Surveys revealed high community satisfaction with e-commerce sales features and recognition of its pivotal role in boosting product sales. This initiative underscores the importance of targeted assistance in fostering digital marketing capabilities within rural communities.

Abstract

The waste problem is one of the main challenges faced by Indonesian society, including at the Nidhomuddin Islamic Boarding School, Negara Ratu Village, Natar, South Lampung. Waste management in this area still needs to be optimized. To overcome this, this activity aims to provide education to students regarding the processing and use of organic and inorganic waste. The methods applied in this activity include composting for organic waste and making ecobricks for plastic waste. The training took place on 14–19 September 2023 and was attended by 40 students. The results of the training show the high enthusiasm of the participants, which is expected to encourage increased awareness and participation of students in independent waste management.

Abstract

Obesity among university students has become a serious concern, influenced by insufficient physical activity and unhealthy lifestyles. This health education program aims to raise awareness and promote steps for preventing obesity among students at Halu Oleo University. The program uses a mixed-media approach, including posters, videos, campaigns via Instagram (@23gizieducate), and physical activities such as group aerobics (Senam Bersama). A total of 30 respondents aged 18–25 years (25 females and 5 males) participated in this study. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed online via Google Forms to assess students' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding physical activity and obesity prevention. The results showed that 56.7% of respondents engaged in physical activity less than twice a week, while 20% did not participate in physical activity at all. The main barriers to exercising included lack of motivation (50%), absence of workout partners (26.7%), and time constraints (23.3%). Nevertheless, 86.7% of respondents expressed a desire to live healthily through regular physical activity. The educational media used, such as Instagram and videos, received positive feedback, with materials perceived as clear, engaging, and easy to understand. This education program successfully increased awareness of the importance of physical activity in preventing obesity among university students. The combination of digital media and direct activities proved effective in enhancing knowledge and encouraging healthier behaviors.

Abstract

"Little Pharmacist" is a program to empower children by providing a basic understanding of the duties and roles of pharmacists, the names of medicines, indication, dosage forms, and how to use them correctly. The “Little Pharmacist” program aims to introduce the pharmacist profession and increase general knowledge about medicines from an early age. Providing activities for children must use interesting, child-friendly and innovative methods through learning experiences. The aim of this community service activity is to increase children's knowledge, especially grade 5 students at SDN 02 Candirejo, about the names of medicines, their properties, dosage forms and the correct way to use them. Community service activities carried out using a demonstration approach and discusion sessions will make it easier for elementary school children to learn about medicines in an easy and fun way so that children can absorb knowledge well. This community service activity was attended by 25 grade 5 students of SDN 02 Candirejo, West Ungaran District, Semarang Regency. The implementation uses a demonstration method, where the service team provides knowledge about the name of the drug, dosage form, indications, and the correct way to use it through the experience of seeing the drug product. Evaluation of the success of the activity is measured by observing students when demonstrating their learning experiences about drugs. As a result, each student was able to identify a medicinal product including the name of the drug, dosage form, indications and how to use it properly.

Abstract

The development of technology today is very rapid, with the development of information technology and the internet, there are abundant digital information resources available. Based on the results of observations at SD Muhammadiyah Purworejo, several problems were found, namely 1) limited internet network while the infrastructure at the elementary school is very supportive of facilities such as computers, LCDs and adequate projector screens, in which case not all teachers or students have access to adequate devices such as computers, tablets, or smartphones needed to access Kahoot and Quizizz. 2) There are still teachers whose levels of competence vary from one another in mastering digital technology in learning, which in this case is the lack of mastery of the features in Kahoot and Quizizz which requires time and effort. 3) lack of training activities in making digital media. The objectives of this training activity include: 1) To improve teachers' digital literacy in mastering digital technology, 2) Train teachers to use interactive applications such as Khaoot and Quizizz, so that learning activities become more interesting and interactive, 3) Improve the quality of learning by creating more varied and more interesting teaching materials, 4) Improve evaluation skills presented with Khahoot and Quizizz. This research method was carried out with a qualitative approach, involving observation, interviews, and training analysis. The results of this training activity This training also proves that with mentoring and direct practice, teachers can easily integrate technology into learning, providing sustainable benefits for the education process. This training activity not only improves teachers' digital literacy, but also has a positive impact on the quality of student learning.

Abstract

The community service was aimed at improving theoretical understanding and practical skill on construction of the prisoners in Nunukan Class 2B Prison. The material in the workshop included introduction to the principles of Physiscs relevant to beam and column installation, healthy house concept, and earthquake-resistant simple house design. The workshop was carried out using participatory approach in which participants actively contributed on the discussion, simulation, and application. This approach was selected as it increases togetherness and solidarity among participants. The result indicated that there was a significant improvement on participants’ technical skill, especially in the application of reinforcement installation standards. In addition, the workshop succeeded in strengthening solidarity and cooperation among prisoners through group work. Moreover, the documentation of the activity revealed the success of the program although the time was limited.  In conclusion, the workshop provided a positive impact, both in the short and long term. The prisoners could increase their technical skills and their skills can be applied in the future. This activity also has the potential to be replicated in other places with some adaptation according to the local needs.

Abstract

Bumi Ratu Village is located on the edge of the Way Sekampung dam, with the position of the dam lower than the village land. This causes the agricultural land and rice fields of Bumi Ratu Village to have difficulty getting water, because the irrigation flow cannot reach a higher position. This problem is an important concern because it greatly affects the planting season and harvest from agriculture. The purpose of this service is to overcome the problem of irrigation of land that has a geographical location above the river level through appropriate technology in the form of a water pump without a machine (hydram pump). The method of this activity consists of several steps, namely 1) Determination of location points that have water sources, 2) Making hydram pump equipment, 3) Socialization, 4) Hydram Pump Trial and 4) Evaluation. This community service activity is expected to be an effective solution in overcoming irrigation problems on their agricultural land. The results of this community service activity show that hydram pumps are an appropriate solution to the irrigation problems that occur in Bumi Ratu Pagelaran Village. Through the use of this hydram pump, farmers and landowners are expected to optimize land irrigation around the highland area so that crop yields can be as expected.

Abstract

Teachers' literacy and numeracy competencies are essential to improve the quality of education and prepare students to face challenges in the modern era and be better prepared to face global challenges. The purpose of this activity is to improve teachers' insights, competencies and understanding of the importance of integrating numeracy literacy in every stage of learning. This workshop was held for two days on October 18-19, 2024, attended by 53 subject teachers who teach at each level in SMP Negeri 22 Bandar Lampung. At the initial stage, a common perception of numeracy literacy was shared and then followed by a more specific strategy through double-entry journals was chosen as a way to improve teachers' competence in making evaluations and learning designs that integrate literacy and numeracy. The workshop was proven to improve teachers' understanding and competence on numeracy literacy from 71.51% to 86.94%. This shows that the workshop can improve teachers' understanding, insight and competence on literacy and numeracy in learning.
