Abstract

The mastery of currency concepts is essential in early social studies education, yet many primary school students struggle to understand these abstract ideas. This study investigates the effect of the Picture Slap game (Permainan Tos Gambar) on students’ learning outcomes in currency material at Grade III of MI Nahdlatul Ulama Tanjung Mulia. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design, the study involved 24 students divided into an experimental class taught using the Picture Slap game and a control class taught using conventional methods. Data were collected through multiple-choice tests consisting of 20 pretest and 20 posttest items. The experimental class mean score increased from 64 to 88, while the control class improved from 61 to 82.5. An independent samples t-test confirmed a statistically significant difference in learning outcomes between both groups. N-Gain analysis further showed moderate effectiveness in the experimental class (56%) compared to a low category in the control class (44%). These findings indicate that the Picture Slap game positively and effectively enhances students’ learning outcomes in currency learning.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of contextual learning integrated with religious and cultural values in enhancing students’ motivation in studying Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) at the elementary level. The research was driven by the recurrent issue of low student motivation in IPAS, which is often perceived as monotonous due to its emphasis on memorization rather than meaningful comprehension. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design, the study involved 28 fifth-grade students, divided equally into experimental and control classes. Data were collected through a validated motivation questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using normality testing, homogeneity testing, and an independent samples t-test via SPSS 25. The findings indicate a significant effect of integrating religious and cultural contexts into IPAS instruction, as demonstrated by a t-test significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and an average score difference of 11.571 points between groups. These results suggest that contextualizing IPAS material with religious and cultural dimensions fosters higher engagement and learning enthusiasm. Consequently, contextual learning that incorporates religion and culture emerges as an effective pedagogical strategy for improving motivation in IPAS learning within Islamic elementary schools.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education requires strategic planning that aligns institutional strengths with contextual challenges. This study examines the internal and external conditions of Sekolah Menengah Pertama Satu Atap Negeri 3 Nainggolan through a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats analysis to identify the most appropriate strategies for enhancing educational quality. The central research question focuses on how SWOT components shape strategic decision-making within the school. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through direct observation, document analysis, and interviews with school stakeholders. The findings indicate that strengths and opportunities—such as committed educators, community support, and potential program development—serve as valuable assets in achieving institutional goals, whereas weaknesses and threats—such as limited facilities and demographic challenges—pose significant barriers to progress. The study concludes that formulating targeted, context-responsive strategies is essential to optimizing advantages while mitigating potential constraints, thereby supporting sustainable educational development.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the Benteng Pancasila educational tourism program in strengthening students’ civic disposition amid concerns about declining engagement with national values in the era of globalization. The research addresses the central question of how educational tourism contributes to enhancing key civic qualities such as nationalism, tolerance, social concern, and civic participation. Employing a quasi-experimental One Group Pretest Posttest design supported by qualitative observations and interviews, the study provides both statistical and contextual insights. The results show a substantial improvement in students’ civic disposition, with the average score increasing from 3.06 in the pretest to 4.07 in the posttest, indicating a 32.9% gain. Qualitative evidence further reveals heightened emotional involvement, reflective thinking, and deeper understanding as students engaged with the learning environment. These findings demonstrate that educational tourism at Benteng Pancasila functions as an effective contextual learning strategy for cultivating national character and reinforcing the broader aims of Pancasila-based civic education.

Abstract

This study develops and evaluates a gamification-based learning media using the Kahoot application to enhance second-grade students’ understanding of multiplication at the Integrated Islamic Elementary School Al-Azhar Galang. The research addresses the problem of low student engagement and limited variation in instructional media by proposing a digital game-based alternative designed to increase motivation and conceptual mastery. Employing a Research and Development design with the ADDIE model, the study involved material experts, media experts, and Grade II students as trial participants. Data were collected through expert validation questionnaires and classroom implementation observations, and analyzed descriptively using quantitative techniques. Findings indicate that the developed media demonstrates high feasibility, receiving validation scores of 86% from both material and media experts, categorized as highly feasible. Student trial results yielded an average score of 90.8%, showing that the media is interactive, enjoyable, and effective in supporting students’ understanding of multiplication. The Kahoot-based learning media incorporates structured sections—introduction, core activities, and closing—supported by age-appropriate illustrations and game elements that align with the principles of gamified learning. Overall, the study concludes that the developed media is suitable for classroom use and contributes positively to students’ learning motivation and conceptual comprehension.

Abstract

Pornography addiction is a form of deviant behavior that adversely affects the mental, spiritual, and social well-being of adolescents. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Islamic counseling employing Qur’anic recitation therapy in reducing pornography-viewing addiction among a young male in Surabaya. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, followed by a comparative descriptive analysis of the client’s condition before and after the therapeutic intervention. The findings reveal a substantial decrease in the frequency of pornography consumption after the client underwent a structured Qur’anic recitation program. The client, who previously viewed pornographic films 3–7 times per week, showed a marked decline to only once every two weeks. Improvements were also observed in self-control, daily habits, and the development of more religious attitudes. These results demonstrate that Islamic counseling integrated with Qur’anic therapy can serve as an effective alternative for assisting individuals in overcoming pornography addiction while fostering healthier behaviors aligned with Islamic values.

Abstract

The development of students’ communication skills remains a central challenge in higher education, particularly within science-based learning contexts that demand active engagement and collaboration. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing a Project-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the Quizizz application in enhancing students’ communication skills. Employing a quantitative approach, the research adopts a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest scheme. The study was conducted with 23 students enrolled in the R-001 Chemistry Education class during the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire designed to measure students’ communication skills before and after the instructional intervention. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using a paired-sample t-test to determine the significance of changes in communication performance. The findings reveal a statistically significant improvement in students’ communication skills following the implementation of the Quizizz-assisted PBL model. These results indicate that integrating interactive digital applications within project-based instructional frameworks can effectively foster active participation, collaborative dialogue, and expressive competence among students. The study concludes that Quizizz-assisted Project-Based Learning constitutes a viable pedagogical strategy for strengthening communication skills in higher education learning environments.

Abstract

The integration of digital learning media in language instruction has become increasingly important to enhance students’ engagement and learning outcomes. This study aims to develop, examine the feasibility, and evaluate the effectiveness of Socrative-assisted student worksheets for short story text learning among eleventh-grade students at State Senior High School Sixteen Medan. Employing a Research and Development approach, the study adopts the Borg and Gall development model. The research population consisted of 384 students, with a sample of 35 eleventh-grade students selected for limited field testing. Data were collected through expert validation, teacher assessments, student responses, and learning outcome evaluation tests. The feasibility analysis indicates that the developed worksheets are categorized as highly feasible, as evidenced by assessments from media experts (91% and 88%), material experts (86% and 94%), an Indonesian language teacher (96%), and student trials (92%). Furthermore, the effectiveness test demonstrates that the Socrative-assisted worksheets significantly improve students’ learning outcomes, achieving an effectiveness score of 93%, which falls within the highly effective category. It can be concluded that Socrative-assisted student worksheets for short story texts are pedagogically sound, practically applicable, and effective in enhancing students’ learning outcomes in Indonesian language learning.

Abstract

The integration of digital tools in language learning has become increasingly essential to support students’ creative writing skills, particularly in drama script composition. This study investigates the development process, feasibility, and effectiveness of interactive learning media for writing drama scripts assisted by the Celtx application among eleventh-grade students at State Senior High School One Hamparan Perak. The study employs a Research and Development approach based on the Four-D development model proposed by Thiagarajan, encompassing the stages of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The research population consisted of 310 eleventh-grade students, with a sample of 36 students selected for field testing. Data were collected through expert validation, teacher assessments, student responses, and learning outcome evaluations. The findings demonstrate that the developed interactive learning media is categorized as highly feasible, as indicated by assessments from media experts, material experts, teachers, and students, all of which yielded high feasibility percentages. Furthermore, the effectiveness test reveals a substantial improvement in students’ drama script writing skills, with an evaluation score of 90%, classified as highly effective. These results indicate that interactive learning media assisted by Celtx is pedagogically appropriate, practically applicable, and effective in enhancing students’ drama script writing competencies.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of implementing natural material-based biochemistry practicums in enhancing university students’ creativity. The research is grounded in the recognition that creative thinking skills among students have not been optimally facilitated within conventional laboratory instruction. Employing a one-group pretest–posttest research design, this study measured changes in students’ creativity before and after their participation in biochemistry practicums utilizing natural materials. The participants consisted of 23 students enrolled in the Biochemistry Practicum course within the Chemistry Education Study Program. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that assessed four dimensions of creativity: idea fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Statistical analysis revealed a significant increase in students’ creativity following the intervention, as indicated by a significance value of 0.000. These findings demonstrate that natural material-based biochemistry practicums are effective in fostering students’ creative capacities. The study concludes that integrating natural materials into biochemistry laboratory activities constitutes a pedagogically meaningful strategy to promote creativity, encourage exploratory learning, and strengthen the practical application of biochemical concepts in higher education contexts.
