Abstract

The lack of understanding of the benefits of traditional games for children's growth and development is the background of research, thus causing the extinction of traditional games from the community. In fact, traditional games have many benefits for children's growth and development, especially games played outside the home. Besides being played in the community, traditional games can also be used as learning media for children at school. However, this has not been done much because traditional games are still limited to local content where the implementation is returned to the school concern. The purpose of this study was to develop a prototype curriculum based on the traditional game of marbles to develop the growth and development of early childhood. This study uses a qualitative approach and the research method used is Design Based Research (DBR). The research instrument is the researcher and the participant. The steps taken in data analysis in this study were data reduction (organizing data), data display (making detailed descriptions), and conclusion drawing/verification (interpreting and drawing conclusions). The result of this research is the development of learning tools in the form of RPPH (daily lesson implementation plan) based on the traditional game of marbles.

Abstract

With the decrease in COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, learning activities are expected to return to normal in the new academic year 2022/2023. To increase the interest and motivation of civil engineering students, a student-centered approach is needed in theory-practicum learning. Scientific learning approach was implemented to increase students’ motivation and learning outcomes of Civil Engineering students after the Covid-19 Pandemic. This study is class action research conducted at Politeknik Negeri Ketapang with 29 samples. The scores of learning interest, learning motivation, and learning outcomes were analyzed by comparing student scores with the KKM (Minimum Completeness Criteria) score and making a percentage of class completeness. In cycle I, the completeness of student motivation and interest in learning was still less than 50%, so it was continued to cycle II, and at the end of cycle II, motivation and interest in learning still had not reached 50%, then the cycle was continued. At the end of cycle III, it was found that motivation and interest in learning were 68.97% and 79.31%, respectively. In addition to motivation and interest in learning, researcher also compared it with student learning outcomes in each cycle. It was found that, on average, the number of students who completed the percentage of completeness and the minimum and maximum scores for student learning outcomes also increased in each cycle. So, it can be concluded that the scientific approach can improve learning motivation and learning outcomes through classroom action research.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced educational institutions to transition to online learning to maintain social distancing. However, concerns have been raised that not all students may be equally prepared or equipped to succeed in this new environment. Therefore, it is essential to comprehend students' readiness for online learning during the pandemic and the challenges and barriers they may encounter to ensure inclusive and accessible education. This study aims to assess the preparedness of University Muhammadiyah Malang undergraduates in Indonesia for online learning during the pandemic. Using an online questionnaire, a quantitative survey approach was used to collect data from a sample of 260 undergraduates who enrolled in Foreign Language for Specific Purposes. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. Based on the data collected and analyzed, the study found that the students were not fully prepared for online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the undergraduates were motivated to learn through online learning and felt confident in basic computer and internet functions, they faced challenges in making personalized and successful decisions about their online educational activities during the pandemic. The study also revealed that factors such as access to technology and internet connectivity influenced their preparedness for online learning. These findings highlight the need for targeted support to enhance students' preparedness for online learning and improve their overall learning outcomes.
