Abstract

Paracetamol is a medication that is safe for children to use to relieve pain and reduce fever, with minimal side effects. This medication is available in various forms, including syrup, which consists of a solution with a high sucrose content. Maximum Wavelength and Calibration Curve: In the study, the standard paracetamol was analyzed to determine that the obtained wavelength is at 246 nm. Several solutions with different concentrations (10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 ppm) were used to create a calibration curve, which shows the relationship between absorbance and concentration. Linear regression equation: Y = 0.0044x – 0.0166, R² = 0.9936. The absorbance of the syrup sample indicates a paracetamol concentration of approximately 24.23 ppm for sample X and 17.63 ppm for sample W, calculated using a calibration curve. Thus, the research shows an effective analytical method for determining the concentration of paracetamol in syrup preparations.

Abstract

Vitamin C is one of the nutrients that acts as an antioxidant and is effective in fighting free radicals that can potentially damage cells or tissues, including protecting the lens of the eye from oxidative damage caused by radiation. Additionally, Vitamin C can also help reduce the risk of cancer and prevent damage caused by free radicals that can trigger cancer development. The purpose of this research is to determine the vitamin C content in tablet A and drink B using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method with the Genesis 10S. This study is descriptive in nature, focusing on the determination of vitamin C levels in tablet A and drink B using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method with the Genesis 10S. To prepare a concentration series of 2; 4; 6; 8; 10 ppm, pipette from the stock solution of Chloramphenicol at 1000 mg/L. Each sample is placed into a 10 ml volumetric flask and diluted with distilled water up to the mark. Then, an examination was conducted on each concentration using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. After the curve appeared, the calibration curve was obtained by examining the relationship between concentration (X) and the area under the chromatogram (Y) and determining its regression equation (y= ax + b). The results of the analysis of ascorbic acid in tablet preparation A and drink B using the UV-Vis Genesis 10s spectrophotometry method yielded a linear equation for the calibration curve between absorbance and the concentration of the standard solution, resulting in the equation Y = 0.0395x- 0.0443 with an r² value of 0.9853.

Abstract

Malaria is an infectious disease caused by Plasmodium falciparum. In people with malaria, Plasmodium attacks red blood cells. Malaria parasite infection destroys red blood cells, so the blood of malaria sufferers is always much lower than normal hemoglobin levels. Parasitic red blood cells can be destroyed by phagocytes trying to overcome this parasitic infection. The degree of anemia in malaria patients can affect the severity of the disease and also affect treatment efforts. This study used the POCT method or strip test with the Easy Touch device. This study aims to determine hemoglobin levels in malaria patients at the Kuala Makmur Public Health Center, Simeulue Regency in 2022 based on age, gender, and degree of anemia. The number of samples examined as many as 25 were taken by accidental sampling. The type of research used is quantitative research, that is, the type of research conducted with the aim of looking at the description of hemoglobin levels in patients with tropical malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. The results showed that the highest incidence of tropical malaria occurred in patients aged 21-30, female sex with normal degree of anemia 40%, mild 28%, moderate 12% and severe 20%. The average hemoglobin level in malaria patients is below normal with a percentage of 68%. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that hemoglobin levels in tropical malaria patients in the working area of UPTD Puskesmas Kuala Makmur are below normal. Suggestions for health workers are expected to provide more frequent counseling about malaria about the meaning, symptoms, methods of prevention, modes of transmission, and treatment. Abstract

Miana (Coleus scutellarioides) contains flavonoids as its primary active components and is widely used in traditional medicine, particularly in Indonesia. In Bali, which is renowned for its traditional healing practices (Usada Bali), miana is commonly utilized as a herbal remedy. The leaves of miana possess various pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, antidiabetic, anthelmintic, and antipyretic effects. Geographical conditions, such as the altitude of the growing region, are among the factors that influence the flavonoid content in miana leaves. This study aimed to determine the total flavonoid content in miana leaves from three different altitudes in Bali: Bedugul (1273 masl), Klungkung (393 masl), and Sanur (11 masl). An experimental laboratory design was employed, using maceration with 96% ethanol as the extraction method. The total flavonoid content was quantified using UV-Vis spectrophotometry, with quercetin as the reference standard. The results showed that miana leaves from Klungkung exhibited the highest total flavonoid content (540.85 ± 7.97 mgQE/g), followed by Bedugul (488.68 ± 6.07 mgQE/g) and Sanur (368.53 ± 11.2 mgQE/g). Statistical analysis revealed that the total flavonoid content of miana leaves from Klungkung was significantly higher (P<0.05) than that from the other two regions. These findings indicate that the altitude of the growing region affects the total flavonoid content in miana leaves, with the highest levels observed at an intermediate altitude (393 masl).
