Abstract

This study aimed to examine the career planning profile of eleventh-grade students at SMA Islam Athirah 1 Makassar based on five key dimensions: self-concept awareness, career planning orientation, career exploration activities, knowledge of the world of work, and career decision-making readiness. Employing a quantitative survey method, data were collected from 106 students using a standardized career planning scale and analyzed through descriptive statistics and Independent Sample t-Test. The results showed that the students’ overall career planning was at a moderately good level (M = 4.00 on a 1–5 scale), with the highest score in career decision-making readiness (M = 4.15) and lower scores in career exploration (M = 3.82) and work-related knowledge (M = 3.87). No significant gender differences were found across all dimensions (p > 0.05). These findings suggest the need to enhance school-based career guidance programs, especially in facilitating exploration and improving access to occupational information

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of home visit services in guidance and counseling at SMAN 12 Banda Aceh. The method used was qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The study subjects consisted of two guidance and counseling teachers, three homeroom teachers, and one principal. Data collection techniques included interviews and documentation, using a structured interview guide and a document recording format as instruments. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that home visit services are implemented by guidance and counseling teachers in collaboration with homeroom teachers to understand student problems and establish communication with parents. Obstacles identified included poor initial communication with students, the lack of an official assignment letter from the principal, and limited operational funds for home visits. Supporting factors, such as a warm welcome from parents and a supportive environment, contributed to the program's success. The novelty of this study demonstrates that the success of home visit services depends not only on formal administrative support but also on emotional engagement and active communication between teachers, students, and parents. The guidance and counseling teacher's initiative in building interpersonal relationships is crucial in the implementation of this service.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of cognitive restructuring techniques in reducing self-injurious behavior among students at State Vocational High School XYZ. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group. The sample consisted of ten students selected purposively based on indications of self-injurious behavior, divided into two groups: five students in the experimental group and five in the control group. Data were collected through non-participant observation and a self-injury  behavior scale, and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The results revealed a significant decrease in self-injurious behavior scores in the experimental group after receiving cognitive restructuring intervention, shifting from a high to a low category, while the control group showed no meaningful change. Statistical analysis indicated a significance value of 0.009, confirming a significant difference between the two groups. These findings demonstrate that cognitive restructuring techniques are effective in helping students identify, challenge, and modify negative thought patterns that trigger self-injurious behavior, thereby enabling them to develop more adaptive and healthy coping strategies in managing emotional distress.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a general overview of the interpersonal communication skills of Islamic Guidance and Counseling students at KH. Ruhiat Cipasung Tasikmalaya Islamic University who live in Islamic boarding schools. Interpersonal communication is crucial for social cohesion and self-development in the Islamic boarding school environment. This study used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods, involving 117 students living in the Islamic boarding school. Data were collected using an interpersonal communication skills instrument (DeVito, 2016) and analyzed statistically. The results showed that the interpersonal communication skills of students living in the Islamic boarding school tended to be moderate (mean 0.71; SD 0.33). A total of 70% (82 students) were in the moderate category, 18% (21 students) were high, and 12% (14 students) were low. These findings indicate that BKPI students living in Islamic boarding schools have adequate communication skills, but need to improve their empathy and active listening. The hierarchical and ethical environment of Islamic boarding schools can influence communication patterns. Students with low skills require special attention. The interpersonal communication skills of Islamic boarding school students are mostly moderate and require development. The implication of this research is the importance of strengthening the interpersonal communication program within the BKPI curriculum.
