Abstract

Improving the quality of educational services is a crucial demand in educational management, particularly within Islamic educational institutions under the supervision of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The madrasa principal plays a strategic role as a policymaker and change agent in efforts to enhance educational quality sustainably. This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, and control of the principal’s strategic programs in improving educational quality at MA Al Ittihad. The research employed a qualitative approach using SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis. Data were collected through interviews with the madrasa principal and related stakeholders. The findings indicate that strategic planning was carried out through the formulation of the school’s vision, mission, and work programs oriented toward improving educational service quality. Strategy implementation was realized through strengthening teacher competencies, improving academic service systems, and optimizing educational facilities and infrastructure. Strategic program control was conducted through periodic evaluation and continuous supervision of program implementation. The SWOT analysis reveals that the success of improving educational quality is influenced by the principal’s ability to leverage internal strengths and external opportunities while minimizing weaknesses and threats. The study concludes that the principal’s strategic management plays a significant role in enhancing the quality of educational services at MA Al Ittihad.

Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers' efforts to increase student learning interest in Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) in seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Biak Barat. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and questionnaires. The subjects were PPKN teachers and seventh-grade students. The results showed that the learning process was still dominated by conventional methods, namely lectures and question-and-answer sessions, with limited use of learning media. Questionnaire analysis showed that students' learning interest was in the moderate category, with an average score of 3.05. Most students felt bored due to the lack of varied learning methods and engaging learning media. Teachers provided motivation through verbal praise and additional credit, but these forms of reinforcement were not sufficient to increase learning interest overall. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that teachers' efforts to increase students' learning interest in PPKN need to be improved through the application of varied learning methods, the use of visual media, and consistent motivation and rewards. This research is expected to serve as a reference for teachers and schools in designing more interactive and contextual PPKN learning.

Abstract

Indonesian education is facing a moral decline among students, marked by increasing cases of bullying, declining responsibility, low honesty, and weakening respect for teachers and the school environment. This condition underscores the urgency of teachers’ professional ethics as a fundamental moral foundation to support professionalism in the digital era. This qualitative descriptive literature study examines the role of teachers’ professional ethics in enhancing professionalism through the analysis of 25 purposively selected sources (2021–2025) from Google Scholar, Scopus, and national repositories. Data were analyzed using thematic content analysis and NVivo coding, with source triangulation employed to ensure validity. The findings indicate that professional ethics guide responsible, honest, and fair attitudes that, when integrated with pedagogical competence, improve instructional quality and foster students’ character development. Continuous ethics training through case-based workshops and institutional support is recommended to promote integrity-driven educational practices.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between cognitive learning outcomes and scientific argumentation skills through the implementation of Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI)–based Liveworksheets on the topic of buffer solutions in Grade XII science classes at SMAN 2 Bungku. This research employed a correlational design using a survey method. The population consisted of all Grade XII science students at SMAN 2 Bungku, totaling 74 students, with a sample of 42 students selected through random sampling. Data on scientific argumentation skills were obtained through an essay test assessed using the Toulmin’s Argument Pattern (TAP) rubric, while data on cognitive learning outcomes were collected through a 20-item multiple-choice test. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression and Pearson’s product-moment correlation with the assistance of SPSS version 25. The results indicated that both variables were normally distributed and linearly related. The correlation coefficient (r) was 0.767 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a positive and significant relationship between students’ scientific argumentation skills and their cognitive learning outcomes. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.637, meaning that 63.7% of the variance in cognitive learning outcomes was influenced by scientific argumentation skills, while the remaining 36.3% was affected by other factors beyond the scope of this study. Thus, it can be concluded that the higher the students’ scientific argumentation skills, the higher their cognitive learning outcomes. The implementation of SSI-based Liveworksheets was proven effective in enhancing students’ scientific argumentation skills and conceptual understanding of buffer solutions.

Abstract

This study on the effect of emotion regulation on academic stress among university students is grounded in the fact that students face high academic demands while simultaneously undergoing a transitional phase into adulthood, which may trigger negative emotions. During this period, students may experience stress due to difficulties in adapting to these changes. In the educational context, students frequently encounter academic pressures, characterized by heavy coursework, rigorous examinations, and a competitive environment. These pressures can lead to negative impacts known as academic stress. One of the determining factors of academic stress is emotion regulation; therefore, students are required to enhance their emotional regulation abilities. Effective emotion regulation enables students to think more carefully and act objectively. This study employed a quantitative method with an ex post facto approach. The sample consisted of 182 students selected using simple random sampling. The instruments used were an emotion regulation questionnaire comprising 38 items and an academic stress questionnaire consisting of 46 items. Data were analyzed using simple regression analysis. The results showed an Asymp. Sig value of 0.200 and an R Square value of 0.381. The regression equation indicates that emotion regulation has a significant effect on academic stress, meaning that as emotion regulation increases, academic stress decreases.

Abstract

In carrying out development in Pasar Muara Labuh Village, especially regarding education, health, youth and sports programs, law, order, security and village development planning, has been carried out by the local community through the Nagari Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) which is made as a reference in the implementation of development determined by the Nagari Government together with Bamus Nagari and agreed upon with community elements as the direction of government administration through the Nagari Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbang) which is the main vehicle for public consultation for annual development planning. The preparation of the RPJM is carried out systematically, directed, integrated, gradual and sustainable in accordance with the main tasks and functions for the coming year. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques are carried out through document searches in the form of literature studies and observations, in-depth interviews with informants. Collected data are analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis. A persistent challenge in the field is the lack of qualified educational staff. The implementation of the Community-Based Learning (KBK) system remains suboptimal, as evidenced by the lack of learning completion from primary to secondary levels. Health facilities and infrastructure in Pasar Muara Labuh Village remain inadequate, impacting the provision of health services. Sectoral egos and a lack of unity among youth persist at the village level. The high percentage of the population in Pasar Muara Labuh Village remains high. Government programs to alleviate poverty are still suboptimal. To address the issue of maintaining development outcomes, the Pasar Muara Labuh Village strives to support active, creative, effective, and enjoyable learning and guidance, ensuring that each student develops optimally according to their potential. The village government acts as a coordinator in determining all strategic policies for implementing development and health. It is recommended that Pasar Muara Labuh Village continue to employ a mentoring approach, motivating the community to actively participate in maintaining existing development outcomes. This is crucial for attracting government participation and achieving greater development in the following year.

Abstract

This study analyzes non-financial factors influencing the going concern condition of two local coffee shops in Bukittinggi City, namely VOCA Coffee and TenOfTen Coffee. The primary focus is on indicators of customer loyalty, supply chain management, adaptability to changing trends, and operational resilience. The research employs a qualitative case study method with a descriptive approach. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with the managers of each coffee shop, questionnaires administered to 60 customers, as well as observations and documentation of operational activities. Data analysis was conducted thematically to evaluate how each non-financial indicator supports business continuity. The findings indicate that customer loyalty and adaptation to market trends are the most dominant factors in maintaining the going concern of both coffee shops. TenOfTen Coffee excels in customer loyalty and operational resilience due to its strong base of loyal customers and the availability of backup infrastructure (generators and inventory). Meanwhile, VOCA Coffee demonstrates strengths in product variety and a unique in-store experience. Both coffee shops exhibit relatively effective supply chain management; however, TenOfTen relies more heavily on local suppliers, resulting in a lower risk of delivery delays. These findings underscore the importance of intangible assets (brand, customer experience, and innovation) and relationships with local stakeholders for business sustainability (Putu D. P. Paramitha & Yuniarta, 2024; Riswanto et al., 2024). As recommendations, VOCA Coffee is advised to strengthen customer loyalty programs (e.g., membership schemes or reward points), explore alternative local suppliers, and prepare backup infrastructure (generators and internet connectivity). TenOfTen Coffee should continue to enhance its brand image through digital marketing while maintaining product quality.

Abstract

In the context of accelerating educational transformation and increasing demands for 21st-century competencies, school leadership plays a decisive role in shaping adaptive and sustainable learning environments. This study examines how transformational leadership of a school principal enhances teachers’ work motivation and pedagogical competence to improve instructional quality at the elementary level. A qualitative case study was conducted at SDN Gunting I Sukorejo using in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed through data reduction, display, and verification, supported by methodological triangulation to ensure credibility. The findings indicate that visionary direction, continuous academic supervision, collaborative culture building, and teacher empowerment significantly strengthen intrinsic motivation and reflective pedagogical practices. These leadership strategies foster structured lesson planning, innovative instructional approaches, and greater student engagement. Moreover, the principal’s role extends beyond administrative coordination toward cultivating a professional learning ecosystem that supports adaptive and student-centered education. The novelty of this study lies in its integrated analysis of transformational leadership as a catalytic mechanism linking motivation reinforcement and pedagogical competence within a future-oriented elementary education framework. The study highlights the strategic repositioning of school principals as change agents who drive sustainable professional growth and educational innovation.
