Abstract

This research explores the use of song as pedagogical media in vocabulary mastery among young learners. Recognizing the important role of vocabulary in language mastery, this research aims to address the challenges faced by young learners in mastering English vocabulary, especially in a monotonous learning environment. The research focuses on two main aspects: the use of song in vocabulary mastery and teachers' perceptions of this method. Through qualitative research methods, including observations and interviews with English teachers, this research sought to analyze how song can facilitate vocabulary retention and engagement in young learners. This research used the data analysis technique by Miles and Huberman (1984), there were three stages in data analysis: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The research findings show that song not only make learning fun, but also serve as an effective medium to improve vocabulary mastery. The research highlights the importance of selecting age-appropriate song that match students' interests and the importance of integrating song into the core teaching process rather than using them only as ice-breakers. The research concludes with recommendations for teachers to regularly incorporate song into their lesson plans and suggests future research to further explore the impact of different music genres on language learning. Overall, this research underscores the potential of music as a dynamic tool in fostering a positive learning environment and improving vocabulary mastery among young learners.

Abstract

TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding is a metal joining method widely used in industry because it is capable of producing smooth, clean, and high-precision welds. However, in austenitic stainless steel SUS 304, the welding process often causes changes in mechanical properties due to thermal cycling that affect tensile strength, hardness, and toughness. This study aims to analyze the effect of TIG welding on the strength and mechanical properties of SUS 304 and to identify optimal parameters that can maintain the material's structural integrity. The method used is a qualitative approach with direct observation of the welding process, in-depth interviews with practitioners, and documentation of the results of tensile, hardness, and toughness tests in the laboratory, which were carried out for three months in the workshop and material laboratory. The results show that TIG joints in SUS 304 have tensile strength close to that of the parent material, the hardness distribution varies between zones, and the toughness decreases especially under high heat input conditions. The analysis of the results also confirms that welding parameter control plays an important role in preventing grain growth and sensitization phenomena that reduce mechanical properties. In conclusion, this study provides theoretical contributions to strengthen the study of the relationship between welding parameters and the mechanical properties of SUS 304, as well as practical contributions in the form of guidance for industry in optimizing joint quality.

Abstract

In rural areas of Indonesia, such as Nagari Batagak, West Sumatra, limited access to health services emphasizes the need for promotive and preventive interventions. The program aims to increase awareness of regular health check-ups and the prevention of degenerative diseases. The program method was implemented on June 16, 2025, involving 35 elderly people aged 60–80 years in Jorong Sawah Liek, Nagari Batagak, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. Activities included basic health checks (blood pressure, blood sugar, Body Mass Index, mid-upper arm circumference), nutritional screening (MNA), sarcopenia screening (SARC-F and handgrip strength), and cognitive screening (MMSE). Health education was provided on healthy aging, nutrition, rational drug use, and sarcopenia prevention. Data analysis was conducted using frequency distribution, univariate, and bivariate analyses. The results showed that the majority of participants were aged 60–70 years (71.4%) and female (82.9%). Obesity was not significantly associated with blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, or uric acid levels. However, older adults without obesity remain at risk for hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, and hyperuricemia. Handgrip strength testing showed that 56% of participants experienced muscle weakness, with a slightly higher prevalence in men (60%) than in women (55%). These findings indicate a high risk of sarcopenia, which increases susceptibility to mobility limitations and the risk of falls. Therefore, community-based health screening and education are important regardless of obesity status.
