Abstract

This research explores the trend of translated works in Indonesian literature, emphasizing the importance of translation as a bridge for readers who do not understand the source text. Translated works, such as the Qur'an, play a crucial role in expanding cross-cultural understanding and communication. The translation of the Qur'an by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has always had high attention and become the main reference for Muslims in Indonesia. However, several studies have found that despite the increasing demand for translations, the quality of translations remains a challenge. Factors such as diction errors, interference, and faux amis are often found, which interfere with the reader's understanding of the target text. The researcher in this study, analyzed the forms of interference found in the latest edition of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Qur'anic translation using a qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected from reliable sources, including the official website of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and various related literatures. Observation techniques were used to identify and record the forms of interference in the translation, which were then analyzed and classified. The results of the analysis show the presence of interference in various linguistic aspects, such as lexical and syntax.

Abstract

Nabila’s character undergoes various emotional and spiritual journeys that reflect her efforts to achieve self-actualization. However, this process does not occur instantly. Multiple factors influence Nabila’s character development, including her life experiences, social environment, personal challenges, and the values she holds. This study aims to describe the hierarchy of needs achieved by Nabila and the characteristics of her self-actualization in Najib Al-Kilani’s novel Rihlah Ilallah, using Abraham Maslow’s literary psychological perspective. Maslow’s theory emphasizes individual freedom in expressing opinions and making life choices, while also highlighting the importance of humanity’s relationship with the surrounding environment. According to Maslow, individuals reach true happiness when they attain the level of self-actualization. His humanistic theory, known as the Hierarchy of Needs, outlines human motivation as a progression through structured stages. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, drawing data from the novel Rihlah Ilallah and several relevant supporting studies. The results indicate that Nabila’s character fulfills all five levels of basic needs: physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging, esteem, and self-actualization. Additionally, she displays the key traits of a self-actualized individual, including efficient perception of reality, problem-centeredness, high creativity, concern for the welfare of others, and a need for privacy.

Abstract

The song Falasthin Biladiy by Humood AlKhudher emerged from the context of the Palestinian people's resistance in their struggle for independence and national identity. This study aims to examine how patriotic values are represented in the lyrics of the song, using Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach, focusing on two levels of meaning is denotation and connotation. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with the Miles and Huberman data analysis model, which includes data condensation, data presentation, drawing conclusion and verification. The findings reveal that the song’s lyrics successfully represent eight forms of patriotic values, including Love of country, Solidarity of unity, Willing to sacrifice, the spirit of resistance, among others. The lyrics function as a medium for expressing collective awareness and constructing national identity through powerful narrative and poetic symbolism. This research is centered on textual analysis without directly examining the listeners’ responses or reception. Therefore, this study contributes to the field of semiotics and cultural analysis, particularly in understanding how contemporary Arabic music texts serve as symbolic communication media within political and national discourse.

Abstract

This study analyzes the sentence structure in the short story "Al-Shaut Al-Mukhif" by Hasan Muhammad Kamil using Kenneth L. Pike’s Tagmemic approach. The research employs a qualitative method with data analysis based on the Miles and Huberman model, which includes three main stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The aim of the study is to identify the patterns of positive sentence structures within the text. The results indicate that several positive sentences in the short story exhibit the patterns P + S + Adverbial and S + P + Complement. The analysis is based on the four main elements in Tagmemic theory: slot, class, role, and cohesion. These elements contribute to the cohesion of sentence structures, forming clear meaning and establishing systematic relationships among the components. This study demonstrates that the Tagmemic approach is not only relevant for formal linguistic studies but also highly effective in examining the relationship between structure and meaning in literary works, particularly short stories.

Abstract

Literature is a form of culture in a particular region that is certainly different in every other region. In its spread, Arab literature cannot be separated from various aspects of each figure who spreads it. The influence and development of Arab literature itself are diverse. The purpose of this research is to understand the form of Arab literature development and its influence, especially in the Sudanese region. This study uses a qualitative approach that uses library research type. Data sources include articles, books, and literary studies in the Sudanese region. Data collection techniques in the existing text adhere to documentation analysis data with Miles and Huberman's model method through three stages: data reduction, data presentation and verification. The findings of this research show that the existence of Arabic literature in Sudan is not only geographically widespread in regions, but also developed through the contributions of writers whose works were deeply influenced by the country’s political and social dynamics. Figures such as Abdul Rahman al-Mahdi and Sayyid Ali Mirghani played significant roles in shaping the narrative of Arabic literature in Sudan. Abdul Rahman al-Mahdi was known as a revolutionary poet who raised themes of African identity, colonialism, and human struggle, while Sayyid Ali Mirghani depicted the social and cultural realities of local communities, especially through the use of dialect and rural Sudanese settings in his writings. Arabic literature in Sudan does not stand in isolation; rather, it evolved as a response to the country’s complex socio-political and religious conditions

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the factors that led to the public's resistance against the Egyptian authorities in the novel Muzakkarat Fi Sijn al-Nisa’ by Nawal El Saadawi. The issues presented in the novel are related to the inconsistency of the Egyptian authorities in implementing the democratic system they claimed to uphold, which in turn provoked resistance from the people. This study is a library research using a qualitative approach. The data in this study consist of words, phrases, and sentences related to the people’s resistance against the Egyptian authorities in the novel. The data collection technique in this research was carried out through library research, as the main source of data comes from literary texts. The data analysis technique in this study employs the dialectical method, which seeks to integrate two theoretical frameworks Alan Swingewood’s sociology of literature and James C. Scott’s theory of resistance to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the social phenomena represented in the literary text. The results of this study indicate that there are two forms of resistance carried out by the people against the Egyptian authorities: open resistance and hidden resistance. Furthermore, the resistance stems from three main factors: authoritarian governance, human rights violations, and social injustice perpetrated by the Egyptian authorities.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the types of antonyms contained in the Qur'an Surah Al-Hadid which consists of 29 verses. The background of this research departs from the importance of understanding semantic relationships in the Qur'an to deepen the interpretation and understanding of divine messages. The problem raised is how the form and function of antonyms in Surah Al-Hadid if analyzed through the Al-Khummas approach This research uses the library research method by utilizing secondary data in the form of journals, research reports, internet search results, and the Ottoman Rasam Qur'an. The analysis was carried out using the Al-Khammas approach which classifies antonyms into five types, namely tadhad had, tadhad mutadarrij, tadhad aksiy, tadhad amudy, and tadhad imtidadi. The results of the study show that in Surah Al-Hadid four types of antonyms are found, namely absolute antonyms, sideline antonyms, opposite antonyms, and straight-line antonyms. The four types of antonyms are spread across several verses and are categorized based on differences in their meaning. The data is presented in the form of a table that contains the verses and the types of antonyms contained in them. This research contributes to enriching the semantic study of the Qur'an through the application of the Al-Khammas approach which is still rarely used in linguistic analysis of the Qur'anic text.

Abstract

Talk of disarming the resistance has, of late, risen to the surface of the international public dialectic. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the instruments used by Mahmoud Abbas in propagating the discourse of disarming the resistance in the text dimension, the discourse praxis dimension and the socio-cultural praxis dimension. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The data in this study come from Mahmoud Abbas' speeches spread in the mass media from year to year. The data was collected using reading and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was conducted using Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis method, which consists of three dimensions: text dimension, discourse praxis dimension and situational praxis dimension. The results are the findings of three dimensions: text dimension, discourse praxis dimension and situational praxis dimension. The Findings are Abbas' polarization of the public to support the discourse of disarmament and demonization of Hamas through the use of instruments such as: representation of the perpetrator through lexical choices made by using insults or giving official names. In addition, Abbas produces disarmament discourses by using accusations against Hamas and utilizing his political position to legitimize his propaganda.

Abstract

Pre-Islamic poetry occupies a vital position in the corpus of Arabic literature, not only for its linguistic richness but also for its metrical structures, which later became the foundation for the development of ʿaruḍ theory. The Mu‘allaqah of Zuhair bin Abi Sulma represents one of the most prominent texts that exhibit both aesthetic refinement and rhythmic complexity, making it a worthy subject of detailed metrical investigation. This study aims to uncover and identify the forms of zihaf and its distribution across all verses of Zuhair’s Mu‘allaqah. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach with the metrical text analysis method or ʿarudh analysis, the research examines 63 verses as the primary data source, collected through documentation techniques and processed using taqthi’ procedures to determine the wazan, the position of each tafʿilah, and the patterns of rhythmic alteration. The findings reveal that Zuhair consistently employs the bahr thawil in its classical form, with variations of tafʿilah including fa‘ulu, fa‘ulun, mafa‘ilu, mafa‘ilun, and mafa‘iilun. A total of 81 occurrences of zihaf were identified in the hasywu, most of which are qabdh applied to fa‘ulun (76 occurrences) and to mafa‘iilun (5 occurrences). Additionally, the ‘arudh appears in two forms - mafa‘ilu and mafa‘ilun - while the dharb remains consistently in the form of mafā‘ilu throughout all verses. These findings affirm that Zuhair maintains the purity of bahr thawil while applying zihaf selectively to preserve musical flexibility without disturbing rhythmic balance, thereby producing a poetic structure that is stable, dignified, and rich in moral resonance

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of character education values in the animated series Fawwaz wa Nurah using Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic approach. This fusha Arabic cartoon portrays the daily lives of two Muslim children and is rich in character education values such as honesty, responsibility, hard work, discipline, peace-loving attitudes, social awareness, tolerance, and creativity. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method, using viewing, observing, and note-taking techniques on selected episodes. The analysis is conducted by identifying visual and verbal signs, which are then interpreted through Peirce’s three semiotic elements: representamen, object, and interpretant. The findings reveal that Fawwaz wa Nurah consistently conveys character education messages through symbolic representations that are easily understood by children. These semiotic processes demonstrate how values are constructed and internalized in subtle yet effective ways. Thus, the cartoon not only entertains but also serves as an educational medium that fosters ethical awareness and positive character development in children from an early age.
