Tadris Al-Arabiyyah: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Arab dan Kebahasaaraban is a peer-reviewed journal on Arabic education field and intended to communicate original research and current issues on the subject. It is published twice a year since 2022 (April and October) in press version and open journal system in 2022. This journal is published by the Arabic Education Department, Pascasarjana Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University of Bandung, in partnership with IMLA (Ittihadul Mudarrisii al Lughah al Arabiyyah). Editors welcome scholars, researchers and practitioners of Arabic Education around the world to submit scholarly articles to be published through this journal. All articles will be reviewed by experts before accepted for publication. Each author is solely responsible for the content of published articles.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengklarifikasi signifikansi istilah “Syaikhain” dalam istilah fiqih dan hadis serta pengaruhnya terhadap pengajaran bahasa Arab. Penelitian kualitatif ini mengandalkan metode deduktif, yaitu dengan melihat sumber dan referensi yang paling menonjol yang bersangkutan dengan mempelajari topik ini, kemudian menggunakan metode deskriptif analitis untuk memperjelas topik penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa makna istilah “kedua Syekh” dalam istilah fikih berbeda-beda di masing-masing Ajaran Fikih. Dalam doktrin Hanafi, mengacu pada Abu Hanifah dan Abu Yusuf. Dalam doktrin pemikiran Maliki, mengacu pada Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani dan al-Qabisi. Dalam doktrin Syafi'i, itu menunjukkan al-Rafi'i dan al-Nawawi. Dalam doktrin pemikiran Hanbali, itu menunjukkan konsiliator Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi dan al-Majd Ibn Taymiyyah. Adapun istilah “dua Syekh” dalam istilah hadits, itu menunjukkan dua imam Al-Bukhari dan Muslim. Implikasi dari makna istilah “dua syekh” dalam pengajaran bahasa Arab antara lain bahwa guru harus memperjelas konotasi istilah ini dalam arti leksikal usia tua. Kemudian beliau menjelaskan kepada para pembelajar bahwa boleh menggunakan kata “Syekh” dalam bahasa dan hadis, bagi orang yang ilmunya bertambah, dan dia terkenal dengan ilmunya dan kecerdikannya di kalangan manusia. Dan dia mengatakan kepada mereka banyak konotasi kata-katanya sesuai dengan ilmu yang dimaksudkan.

Abstract

The poem is one of the literary works that is often used as a medium to convey messages of life. Through rhythmic language and imaginative content it can stimulate feelings and thoughts about the meaning of life. Therefore, it is often used as an educational medium that is believed to effectively influence a person's behavior through moral and ethical messages. Among the collections of poems that contain the message of life are the poems by Abū al-‘Atāhiyah. This research aims to reveal in-depth the values of moral education contained in the 4163 stanzas of Abū al-‘Atāhiyah in the book entitled Abū al-‘Atāhiyah: Asy’āruhu wa Akhbāruhu, edited by Syukrī Faishal from the book Dīwān Abī al-‘Atāhiyah. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with a genetic structuralism approach. The results showed six themes of life, namely death, worldly life, self-forget, ruler lifestyle, concern for others, and self-introspection. These themes show the formation of a person who has religious behavior, creative and healthy thoughts, honest behavior, hard work attitude in achieving goals, politeness, love of peace, tolerance for others, and responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the suitability of Sri Kuryati's Arabic textbook based on KD (Basic Competence) KMA (Minister of Religion Decree) 183 2019 and the quality of the Arabic textbook. This type of research uses qualitative research. The results of this study are: 1) Sri Kuryati's Arabic Textbook, in general, has met the specified standards, namely a) In chapter I, the author has presented the subject matter according to the linguistic elements of a simple text related to the theme of الا by linking speech acts by giving each other. Information about a person's address and describe the linguistic components related to الان, b) In chapter II, the author has presented the main material according to the linguistic elements of a simple text related to the ال theme and explained the structure of الضميرالمنفصل–الاشارة and connected speech acts by outlining expressions, c) In chapter III the author has presented the main material according to linguistic elements through simple texts related to the ال theme as well as communicative and instructional expressions in the learning process and from the three chapters still need improvement in the presentation of the material, 2) The text of the book, in general, has good quality through four aspects, namely asp oak selection, aspects of gradation, aspects of presentation and aspects of repetition.

Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of a project-based learning model in Arabic language teaching to improve students' listening and reading skills, aiming to determine if this approach yields better results than traditional methods. A quasi-experimental design with pre-tests and post-tests was conducted with control and experimental groups of Class XI B students. Before the intervention, students' listening and reading skills scored averages of 67 and 66, respectively, indicating moderate proficiency. The project-based approach incorporated information and communication technology topics, finding synonyms, listening to recordings, and watching instructional videos. This approach was designed to make learning more engaging and contextually relevant. After implementing the project-based learning model, students in the experimental group showed significant improvement: listening skills rose to an average score of 81, while reading skills increased to 80. This represented effect sizes of 41% and 45%, respectively, highlighting the model's positive impact on skill enhancement. Integrating project-based learning into Arabic language curricula at the secondary level is recommended to enhance student engagement and comprehension, particularly in complex subjects. Using relevant themes like technology may further contextualize learning and improve outcomes. Future research should investigate this model's long-term impact and adaptability across different proficiency levels and educational contexts, supporting a more engaging and effective approach to Arabic language instruction.

Abstract

The Learning Model is a very important component in planning and delivering learning. Learning models have many varieties, one of which is the cooperative model. CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) type. This study aims to determine the extent to which the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) learning model improves vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Harapan Baru Ciamis in Arabic language subjects on qirā'ah material. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a quasi-experimental design of the pre-test and post-test type. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interviews, tests, literature studies, and documentation. The sampling in this study was class IX-A and IX-B at MTs. Harapan Baru Ciamis totaling 47 students. The results showed increased students' learning outcomes in vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Harapan Baru Ciamis in the control and experimental class students. This is indicated by the average initial value of vocabulary mastery in the control class of 50.63 to 67.92. While in the experimental class, the initial average score was 53.91 to 76.74. The increase in students' reading comprehension in the control class got an initial average score of 66.71 to 79.42. The average initial reading comprehension in the experimental class was 67.04 to 86.22. The effectiveness of increasing vocabulary mastery with the Jigsaw model in the control class increased by 35.75%, including the ineffective category. The increase in vocabulary mastery in the experimental class using the CIRC model was 49.75%. This shows that increasing vocabulary mastery is included in the less effective category. The effectiveness of increasing reading comprehension in the control class using the jigsaw model was 36.90%, indicating that the model used was included in the ineffective category. While the increase in reading comprehension using the CIRC model was 56.51%. This shows that increasing reading comprehension using the CIRC model is effective.

Abstract

Students often consider Arabic language learning challenging due to difficulties in understanding and pronouncing vocabulary and the numerous changes in word forms, making the language seem complex and uninteresting. This issue is exacerbated by passive learning methods focusing solely on memorizing vocabulary without employing strategies to increase student participation and engagement. As a solution, the Talking Stick media was introduced to create a more interactive and engaging learning process to improve students' vocabulary mastery and speaking skills. This study assesses vocabulary mastery and Arabic speaking skills before and after applying the Talking Stick media and evaluates the improvement. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design, adopting a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques included direct observation, interviews, and tests. The results showed that using the Talking Stick media had a positive impact, with students' vocabulary mastery increasing from an average of 51 to 85 and speaking skills improving from 57 to 85. The N-Gain score for vocabulary mastery reached 0.70 and 0.75 for speaking skills, categorized as "high." In contrast, the control group demonstrated only moderate improvements. These findings indicate that the Talking Stick media significantly enhances vocabulary mastery and speaking skills compared to conventional learning methods. Future research is recommended to explore other interactive media for Arabic language teaching.

Abstract

Arabic linguistics is a branch of science that focuses on the study of Arabic from various fields, namely phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Since classical times, Muslim scholars have developed linguistic theories that have contributed greatly to understanding the structure of the Arabic language. In its further development, Arabic linguistics began to interact with modern linguistic approaches, which offer more systematic and comprehensive analysis methods. Modern linguistics, which includes various branches such as structuralism, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and discourse analysis, provides a new perspective in understanding Arabic, both in theoretical and applied aspects. The influence of this modern approach not only enriches the study of Arabic linguistics, but also supports the development of language technology, translation, and Arabic language learning for foreign speakers. This article aims to examine the development of Arabic linguistics from traditional to modern perspectives and to explore the scope of modern linguistics that has an impact on Arabic language studies in the contemporary era. Through a descriptive and analytical approach, this article identifies the role of modern linguistics in expanding the scope of Arabic language studies, resulting in a deeper understanding of the structure and function of the language in various contexts.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Text-to-Speech (TTS) media in enhancing Arabic listening (istima’) and speaking (kalam) skills among grade XI students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Cimahi. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the research compared student performance in experimental and control groups before and after the integration of TTS media in the learning process. Pre-test results indicated marginally higher average scores in the experimental group compared to the control group. Following the intervention, the experimental group demonstrated significant improvement, particularly in speaking skills, achieving an average score of 85.72, compared to 84.89 in the control group. Conversely, listening skills showed a slight advantage for the control group post-intervention. Statistical analysis confirmed that the use of TTS media significantly enhanced students’ speaking and listening abilities, with a more pronounced effect on speaking proficiency. These findings suggest that TTS media is an effective tool for supporting the development of Arabic language skills, especially in improving oral communication.

Abstract

The advancement of technology has significantly facilitated human activities, including in the educational sector. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the iSpring Suite 11 interactive learning media in enhancing students' interest and engagement in Arabic language learning at MAN 5 Garut. Employing a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups and a quantitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The findings revealed that students' interest and activity levels were initially low, with mean scores of 32 and 50, respectively. After the intervention using iSpring Suite 11, these scores increased to 87 (very high interest) and 90 (very high activity). Statistical analysis showed a significant improvement in the experimental group (interest gain = 0.8; activity gain = 0.8), surpassing the control group (interest gain = 0.7; activity gain = 0.6). The study concludes that iSpring Suite 11 is more effective than conventional methods in fostering student interest and engagement in Arabic language education. Future research should explore the long-term effects of such technologies across different educational contexts and subject areas.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Kahoot media in Arabic language instruction in improving students' reading skills. It employed a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design involving a single experimental group. The participants were seventh-grade students at SMP Al-Azhar Cairo Bandung. The primary focus of this study was to compare students' reading abilities before and after the implementation of the interactive media Kahoot and to evaluate whether it was more effective than traditional teaching methods. The results indicated that students' reading skills before using Kahoot were relatively low, with an average score of 50.8, which falls into the 50–59 category based on interpretation criteria. After the implementation of Kahoot, a significant improvement was observed, with the average score rising to 82.4, classified as "good" (80–90). And 65% of students reached a reading proficiency level considered moderate. A hypothesis test revealed that the calculated t-value (25.32) was greater than the critical t-value (2.06), indicating that the improvement was statistically significant. These findings demonstrate that Kahoot effectively enhances students' reading skills in Arabic. Future research is encouraged to explore the impact of Kahoot on other Arabic language skills, such as listening, speaking, and writing, as well as to assess its long-term effectiveness across different educational levels.
