Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding rice bran levels on physical quality (color, aroma, texture and presence of fungi) and pH in rice straw fermentation using LAB. The study was conducted in Blitar with materials in the form of rice straw, rice bran, probiotics (LAB), molasses and water. The tools used in this study were digital scales, ropes, plastic bags, vacuum pumps and pH meters. The research design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments tried in this study were P0 = Rice Straw + Probiotics + 0% Rice Bran, P1 = Rice Straw + Probiotics + 5% Rice Bran, P2 = Rice Straw + Probiotics + 10% Rice Bran, P3 = Rice Straw + Probiotics + 15% Rice Bran. The variables measured in this study were color, aroma, texture, presence of fungi and pH. The results showed that the addition of rice bran had no significant effect (P>0.05) on physical quality but a very significant effect (P<0.01) on fermentation pH. The conclusion of this study is that the addition of rice bran to straw fermentation had no significant effect on organoleptic performance. A significant decrease in fermentation pH indicated that fermentation was progressing well. The addition of 10% rice bran had the best results in terms of organoleptic and pH.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors influencing the income of beef cattle farming businesses in Ciro-ciroe Village, Watang Pulu District, Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The research employs a quantitative method with a sample size of 17 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS 16.0 for Windows. The results show that the feed variable (X1) has a significance value of 0.029 < 0.05, maintenance management (X2) is 0.048 < 0.05, and livestock health (X4) is 0.027 < 0.05. This indicates that these three variables have a significant effect on the income of beef cattle farmers. Meanwhile, the marketing variable (X3) has a significance value of 0.451 > 0.05, indicating no significant effect on income. Simultaneously, the F-test results show a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, which means that all four variables collectively have a significant influence on the income of beef cattle farming businesses.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian yaitu mengetahui pengaruh bobot telur terhadap fertilitas dan daya tetas telur ayam kampung pada mesin tetas. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Produksi dan Teknologi Hasil Ternak Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Mulawarman pada bulan Mei 2025. Telur ayam kampung dengan bobot 40–50 gram (P1) dan 50–60 gram (P2) masing-masing sebanyak 25 butir digunakan sebagai bahan penelitian. Telur diseleksi berdasarkan bentuk, kebersihan, dan keutuhan cangkang, kemudian dilakukan fumigasi terhadapa mesin tetas sebelum telur dimasukkan. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap fertilitas dan daya tetas, dan data dianalisis menggunakan analisis regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada kelompok telur bobot 40–50 gram, bobot telur berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap fertilitas dan daya tetas (p>0,05). Sementara itu, pada kelompok telur berbobot 50–60 gram, bobot telur berpengaruh nyata dengan arah hubungan negatif terhadap fertilitas dan daya tetas (p<0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan bobot telur cenderung menurunkan keberhasilan pembuahan dan penetasan akibat perubahan morfologi telur dan penurunan kualitas fisiologis embrio. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa telur dengan bobot sedang (40–50 gram) merupakan ukuran ideal untuk digunakan sebagai telur tetas ayam kampung guna memperoleh fertilitas dan daya tetas yang optimal.

Abstract

  Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is an abundant aquatic plant in South Kalimantan and has potential as an alternative feed, but its high crude fiber content is an obstacle to its use in poultry. Fermentation using Effective Microorganisms-4 (EM4) can improve the digestibility of this material. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of adding fermented water hyacinth to the diet on the performance of male Alabio ducks. The study used a completely randomized design with three treatments, namely P0 (0% fermented water hyacinth), P1 (20%), and P2 (30%), each with six replicates. The parameters observed included body weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results showed that the control treatment produced the highest body weight gain, while feed intake increased with increasing levels of fermented water hyacinth. The best FCR value was obtained in the P0 (control) treatment, while the addition of 20–30% fermented water hyacinth increased feed intake but was not followed by an increase in feed utilization efficiency. It was concluded that the use of fermented water hyacinth in the Alabio Ducks (Anas platyrhynchos Borneo) ration needs to be limited to the optimal level in order to maintain productivity and feed efficiency.

Abstract

Corn tumpi is a byproduct of corn milling and is abundant in Indonesia, accounting for 8–15% of the total weight of ground corn kernels. However, its use as animal feed is hampered by its high crude fiber content, which reduces digestibility. MA-11 and EM4 are types of inoculum containing microorganisms that can produce fiber-degrading enzymes. Therefore, they can be used as inoculum in the fermentation process to overcome this obstacle and hopefully improve nutrient digestibility. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of fermentation using MA-11 and EM4 on the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter in corn tumpi. The design used was a one-way RAL with three treatments, each replicated eight times. The treatments were P0: corn tumps plus molasses and urea (control); P1: corn tumpi fermented using MA-11 with the addition of molasses and urea; P2: corn tumpi fermented using EM-4 with the addition of molasses and urea. The observed variables include KcBK and KcBO.The collected data were analyzed using ANOVA; if the ANOVA indicated a significant difference, the DMRT test was carried out. The results indicate that corn tumpi fermentation can increase the average dry matter digestibility (KcBK) and the average organic matter digestibility (KcBO). The average value of KcBK is as follows: P0: 65.97%, P1: 74.03%, and P2: 70.92%. while the average value of KCBO is 61.47%; P1: 70.31% and P2: 65.77%. This study concludes that fermentation using MA-11 or EM4 on corn tumpi can increase the values of KcBK and KcBO, and that the inoculum yielding the highest results in KcBK and KcBO is MA-11.
