Abstract

Abstract: Problem-solving skills are among the most important competencies of students, especially in the area of science education in the 21st century. Problem-solving skills enhance critical, logical, and creative thinking skills, which are necessary to solve complex real-life problems. This study is intended to identify and analyze research trends with regard to problem-solving skills in science learning from 2014 to 2023. A qualitative bibliometric approach has been used, and the data was collected using Publish or Perish and Dimensions.ai. In total, 200 documents indexed by Google Scholar were analyzed. Research trends, key keywords, and publication patterns were mapped and visualized using the VOSviewer software. The findings indicated that research on problem-solving skills gained consistent interest over the last decade, with the highest number of publications in 2023. Journals were the most common type of publication, followed by proceedings, chapters, and books. Among all publication venues, the Journal of Physics: Conference Series turned out to be the most important, publishing 784 articles and receiving 2567 citations. The most frequent keywords accompanying research in problem-solving are "critical thinking," "science learning," "motivation," and "teacher," which point to the interdisciplinary nature of the topic. Bibliometric visualization shows the emergence of new research clusters: student skills development, teaching strategies, and assessment methods. The conclusion from this study is that, while the research on problem-solving skills has grown steadily in science education, the implementation of practical teaching strategies in a classroom to enhance these skills remains fragmented. The future direction for research should encompass experimental studies through the integration of problem-based learning approaches that are important in the development of critical and creative thinking among students. Such findings have an important basis for educators, policymakers, and researchers to devise evidence-based practices that enhance the outcomes of science education.     Keywords: problem-solving skills, 21st-century competencies, science learning, bibliometric analysis, critical thinking.

Abstract

Abstract: This study will develop strategies for increasing the effectiveness of teaching in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in private vocational schools in Bogor Regency through an analysis of the influence of transformational leadership, models of cooperative learning, and motivation to learn. A quantitative approach was used whereby questionnaires were distributed to a sample of 168 from a total population of 289 teachers as calculated through Slovin's formula. The data analyses include the use of path analysis for testing relationships among variables and the SITOREM method for establishing indicators prioritization for intervention. Results indicated that transformational leadership, cooperative learning models, and learning motivation contributed significantly to effective learning. Cooperative learning, motivation, and leadership show the strongest direct effect in decreasing order. Learning motivation also served as the mediator of leadership and cooperative learning influences towards learning results. Based on the performed SITOREM analyses, indicative categories such as promotive interaction and inspirational motivation that appeared to still require further improvement required priority and serious attention, but those, like individual accountability and task orientation, that have been high should just be preserved. These findings make possible a strategic view of developing the quality of IRE instruction with regard to weaknesses and strengths, based on leadership, cooperative learning, and motivational practices. In conclusion, the study points to the significance of integrating transformational leadership, cooperative learning strategy, and intrinsic-extrinsic motivation in driving effective IRE teaching outcomes. The results give recommendations that are useful for educators, school administrators, and policymakers in the improvement of the quality of education.     Keywords: transformational leadership, cooperative learning, motivation, path analysis, SITOREM analysis.

Abstract

Abstract: This research uses a qualitative method, namely describing the results of research findings related to procedures for dividing the inheritance of the Panyangkalang Village community based on a review of Islamic law. The results of the research show that the procedure for distributing community inheritance in Panyangkalang Village is carried out based on the traditions or customs of distributing the inheritance of their predecessors, that is, it is carried out evenly, whether the inheritance for men or women has the same amount. As for those who have more, the heir is the first person to take care of the heir either before or after he dies. So, the distribution of inheritance in Panyangkalang Village does not apply an inheritance distribution system based on Islamic law. This can be seen from the distribution procedure which is divided equally between men and women, there are inheritance disputes that occur which result in reporting to the Takalar Regency Religious Court.     Keywords: islamic law, inheritance distribution, qualitative research.

Abstract

Abstract: Oral literature is one of the learning materials in schools. With the development of today's technology, bringing oral literature to a more modern world. The digitization of literature makes it easier for teachers to convey the essence of oral literature to students. However, with the digitization of oral literature, various problems have arisen. This research aims to explain various problems that occur in oral literature that is packaged in digital form. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with a literature approach. The researcher collected data through the results of the analysis of various print media. From the results of the research, there are three problems that occur, including, 1) Oral literature that is converted into digital form can reduce the values of oral literature itself, 2) Oral literature consists of various elements, one of which is the flexibility of the storyteller. When oral literature is converted into video form, the flexibility of the storyteller will be frozen in the video. The taste and atmosphere created will also be different when oral literature is delivered in live performances and through videos, and 3) the digitization of oral literature that is not conveyed in accordance with the authentic work, can reduce the authentic values of oral literature itself which will later affect students' understanding.  Keywords: digitization of oral literature, problematic, and literary learning in schools.

Abstract

Abstract: Adaptation is a crucial ability that enables individuals to cope with new and unfamiliar environments. For college students, the ability to adapt during their first year is key to achieving academic success and maintaining psychological well-being. This study aims to develop and validate an assessment instrument to measure the adaptation levels of college students. The research adopts a development methodology using the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. A questionnaire was constructed based on Baker and Siryk’s theory, encompassing four dimensions of adaptation: academic adaptation, social adaptation, personal-emotional adaptation, and attachment to institutions. The questionnaire items were designed using a Likert scale and validated through expert review and field testing. The initial data were collected from 30 respondents for validity and reliability analysis. Results indicate that the instrument achieves a Cronbach's Alpha reliability score of 0.760, which is classified as high, confirming its consistency in measuring adaptation. However, only 10 out of 44 items met the validity criteria with Pearson correlation values greater than 0.3. These items reflect critical aspects of academic motivation, social participation, psychological adjustment, and institutional engagement. The findings demonstrate that the developed instrument is valid and reliable, making it feasible for evaluating the adaptation levels of college students. Future research should refine the instrument further through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses with larger sample sizes to improve item precision and generalizability. This instrument holds potential for use by university counselors to identify adaptation challenges in students and develop targeted interventions.     Keywords: college student adaptation, instrument development, ADDIE model, student adjustment, validation study.

Abstract

Abstract: This article aims to examine the forms of representation of Roland Barthes' narrative codes in Danusha Laméris' poem Small Kindnesses. The narrative codes are: Hermeneutic Code, Proairetic Code, Semantic Code, Symbolic Code, and Cultural Code. The aim of identifying these codes is to discover the implied meaning in addition to the literal meaning of a discourse. As Barthes in his modern semiotic theory proposed connotative meaning in addition to denotative meaning. This research uses a step-by-step qualitative approach by following the way Barthes explored the novel Sarrasine in his book when he introduced the theory of narrative codes. The outcome of the study reveals that in the poem Small Kindnesses, five narrative codes are used in it to achieve connotative meaning or hidden meaning. The result of this meaning is how Small Kindnesses carries social, structural, as well as religious messages as a poem.    Keywords: danusha laméris, connotative meaning, narrative codes, small kindnesses, roland barthes.
