Papanda Journal of Mathematics and Sciences Research (PJMSR) is a scientific journal published by Papanda (Paguyuban Panalungtik Sunda) since 2022. This journal was established to provide up-to-date knowledge in the fields of mathematics and science (physics, chemistry, biology) widely to all academics, researchers and students who have an interest in this field. PJMSR is an open-access journal published twice a year (June - December). All submitted manuscripts will be initially reviewed by the editor and then evaluated by two reviewers with relevant fields through a double-blind review process. This is to ensure the quality of the manuscripts published in the journal.

Abstract

This research aims to develop mathematical teaching aids based on development models with a focus on Equivalent Fractions material. MTs Nurul Hikmah Cigasong School is faced with limited resources and mathematics learning media, which results in low student interest and motivation to learn. Mathematics education in Indonesia still shows low quality compared to other countries. Therefore, this research was carried out to create the "Valorem Fractus" teaching aid as an innovative solution to increase students' understanding of concepts in Equivalent Fractions material. The research method used is Research and Development, with stages of definition, design, and development. The trial was carried out at MTs Nurul Hikmah Cigasong, involving 18 class VII students as research subjects. The results of media and material validation tests by validators show a very high level of validity, with an average percentage of 94% and 95% respectively. The overall product validation test results show a validity level of 95%, confirming that the teaching aids and materials developed meet the expected validity standards. The use of Valorem Fractus teaching aids significantly increases students' understanding of concepts in Equivalent Fractions material. The implications of this research include recommendations for using Valorem Fractus teaching aids in mathematics learning, especially in Equivalent Fractions material. This research makes a positive contribution to the development of learning methods and teaching aids, motivates students with interactive and visual approaches, and improves negative perceptions of mathematics. Thus, the Valorem Fractus teaching aid can be relied on as an effective learning resource to improve students' understanding of concepts in Equivalent Fractions material.

Abstract

This research was motivated by problems in implementing the learning methods applied by teachers who still emphasized memorizing concepts, resulting in a lack of students' ability to think for problem solving. The aim of this research is to apply a creative problem solving learning model to improve students' generic science skills. The research subjects were class X MIPA students at SMAN 1 Sukahaji. The research design uses a pretest posttest control group design which is analyzed by calculating the N-gain value. The research instrument is a multiple choice test and essay using generic science skill indicators. The results of research using N-gain calculation analysis showed an increase in the average pretest posttest score for the experimental class from 48.1 to 80.8, while for the control class from 42.6 to 71.2. This shows that there is an increase in both classes, but the increase in the experimental class is higher than the control class, meaning that applying the creative problem solving learning model can be used as a solution as an effort to help improve generic science skills. Abstract

This study aims to examine the utilization and impact of instructional materials on biology education within Awka South Local Government Area.The research employs a descriptive survey methodology to gather data from secondary school teachers and students in the area. To ensure representative sampling, 38 biology teachers were randomly selected. Data collection was facilitated through a self-structured 4-point rating questionnaire comprising sections for personal data and items related to the research questions.Descriptive statistics were utilized to analyze the extent of usage of instructional materials among teachers. The findings reveal a diverse extent of usage of instructional materials among teachers, with certain materials being employed more extensively than others. While traditional tools like audio and video recorders, projectors, and microphones are utilized to a limited extent, innovative resources such as organ tissue specimens and multimedia aids exhibit greater usage. Results indicate that access to information and communication technology (ICT) facilitates students' ability to gather recent information, while the regular use of instructional materials promotes easy comprehension of difficult concepts and enhances students' abilities and interests in biology.Recommendations include providing educators with adequate training and resources to effectively incorporate instructional materials into their teaching practices, thereby optimizing the learning experience in Awka South Local Government Area.

Abstract

Meningkatnya pengguna TikTok di kalangan siswa sekolah menengah atas di Indonesia akan berdampak pada pembelajaran mereka, khususnya dalam keterampilan digital dalam matematika. Keterampilan berhitung sangat penting karena membantu siswa mengatasi tantangan pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur dampak penggunaan TikTok terhadap kemampuan berhitung siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan kelas tunggal dan menggunakan sampling jenuh untuk menentukan besar sampel. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari tes dengan 5 soal pretest dan posttest. Dalam penelitian ini pengaruh penggunaan TikTok dianalisis dengan memeriksa skor pretest dan posttest siswa, kemudian menggunakan uji hipotesis dengan membandingkan rata-rata skor pretest dan posttest, selanjutnya diperkuat dengan menggunakan N-Gain. Hasil pretest menunjukkan rata-rata skor 51,11 dan hasil posttest menunjukkan rata-rata skor 85,16 menunjukkan peningkatan sebesar 30,45%. Hasil uji-t sampel berpasangan menunjukkan signifikansi < 5% (0,00 < 0,05). Sedangkan skor N-Gain sebesar 0,62 termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Oleh karena itu, disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan TikTok berpengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berhitung matematika siswa.

Abstract

The challenges faced in learning biology today are the low critical thinking skills of students and the lack of application of student-centered learning models. Through guided inquiry, students are given the opportunity to be actively involved in learning by asking questions, designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and drawing conclusions. This study aims to explore the potential of the guided inquiry model in shaping students' critical thinking skills in learning biology. This research was conducted with a literature review of articles in international journals, international seminar proceedings, and SINTA accredited journals. The results of the analysis showed that the guided inquiry model has significant potential in developing students' critical thinking skills. Guided inquiry can facilitate students in building concepts through an active inquiry process. Thus, the application of this model has the potential to broaden learners' horizons while developing higher-order thinking skills that are indispensable in the 21st century.

Abstract

Education can be said to be the main goal that must be owned by humans, and self-potential can be developed through education and humans are able to become the next successor. Improving the quality of education can be done by using appropriate learning methods so as to improve students' abilities, one of which is the ability to think critically. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning learning method on critical thinking skills. The method used in this study is a literature study by collecting some relevant data for the last 4 years with the population, namely elementary school students. Data collection was used in this study through Google, Google Shoolar, ScienceDirect and Springer. Based on the data that has been reduced and described, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning method has proven effective in improving the critical thinking skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan utama untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas fitur-fitur pada aplikasi Telegram sebagai media pembelajaran Matematika serta menilai seberapa efektif berbagai fitur yang ditawarkannya dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran. Menggunakan pendekatan studi deskriptif kualitatif, penelitian ini secara khusus memanfaatkan data yang dikumpulkan melalui kuisioner skala empat sebagai sumber informasi utama dari 30 responden (siswa kelas XI SMK Dirgantara Putra Bangsa). Hasil analisis dari data kuisioner menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi Telegram terbukti sangat efektif dalam perannya sebagai media pembelajaran. Sebagian besar fitur yang diteliti, seperti fitur penyimpanan, grup, channel, pesan rahasia, polls, dan live stream. Penilaian ini menunjukkan bahwa Telegram tidak hanya dapat menjadi alat pembelajaran yang bermanfaat tetapi juga menawarkan cara yang menarik dan mudah digunakan dalam konteks guruan.  Keberhasilan Telegram dalam menyampaikan materi secara efektif serta meningkatkan pengalaman belajar sangat signifikan, karena hal ini menegaskan kemampuannya untuk mempermudah proses pembelajaran bagi guru dan siswa. Fitur-fitur yang ditawarkan Telegram, yang mendukung interaksi, komunikasi, dan aksesibilitas, membuktikan bahwa aplikasi ini adalah media yang relevan dan praktis untuk digunakan dalam konteks guruan, baik di dalam maupun di luar kelas. Dengan berbagai fitur yang memungkinkan interaksi langsung, penyampaian materi yang terstruktur, serta evaluasi pemahaman, Telegram mampu memenuhi kebutuhan pembelajaran modern yang dinamis dan fleksibel.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi filsafat matematika serta model pembelajaran yang digunakan pada pembelajaran matematika dari sudut pandang filsafat pendidikan. Penelitian ini menganalisis berbagai referensi terkait filsafat, filsafat pendidikan, filsafat matematika, dan hubungannya dengan model pembelajaran, termasuk yang berbasis Teknologi Informasi. Data dikumpulkan dari sumber sekunder seperti buku, artikel, dan jurnal terakreditasi yang diterbitkan antara tahun 2019 hingga 2024. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dengan pendekatan kualitatif, yang menekankan analisis referensi dari kajian filsafat, filsafat pendidikan, dan model pembelajaran matematika terkait filsafat serta Teknologi Informasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Filsafat matematika memiliki pengaruh signifikan dalam pembelajaran matematika; 2) Model pembelajaran matematika sebaiknya dihubungkan dengan filsafat pendidikan dengan mengaitkan konsep-konsep kehidupan nyata; 3) Integrasi teknologi informasi dalam model pembelajaran mendukung proses belajar. Penelitian ini memberikan manfaat dengan menyediakan informasi tentang filsafat matematika dalam konteks model pembelajaran berbasis teknologi informasi.

Abstract

An ineffective or inefficient teaching model can be a contributing factor to the suboptimal development of students logical and deep thinking skills. To enhance students critical thinking abilities, innovation is required to successfully improve the quality of learning. The Problem Based Learning approach can be utilized as an option or alternative solution to improve the quality of education. This literature review aims to identify and analyze 30 articles related to the application of the PBL model at the elementary school level, specifically focusing on its use as a strategy to enhance students critical reasoning skills. The study employs a literature review approach, which involves stages of identifying relevant references on the topic of interest, analyzing them, selecting the most pertinent sources, and thoroughly examining each reference used. Based on the reviewed literature, findings indicate that the PBL approach has a positive impact on learning activities and successfully enhances the critical reasoning skills of elementary school students, a crucial competency to master in order to face the challenges of the 21st century. The findings of this literature review are expected to provide valuable insights and serve as a reference for future researchers and educators in managing classroom learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model assisted by manipulative media on the mathematics learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SDN Bandung, Bandung District, Tulungagung Regency. This study is a type of quasi-experimental research (Quasi Experimental Design) with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design model. The subjects of the study were selected by Noneprobability sampling with a saturated sampling model. The sample taken was 20 students consisting of 10 students in the experimental class and 10 students in the control class. The data collection method was carried out using an objective test in the form of multiple choices. The validity test of the test instrument was carried out using product moment while the reliability test used cronbach alpha. The analysis prerequisite test consisted of a normality test and a homogeneity test. Data analysis used parametric statistical techniques, namely the One Way ANOVA test with the help of the SPSS application program version 22.00 for windows. The results of this study indicate that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model assisted by manipulative media has a positive effect on student learning outcomes. The results of the study showed an influence on student learning outcomes after implementing the PBL model assisted by manipulative media. In addition, students also reported that the use of concrete media helped them understand concepts better because they could see the spatial structure in 3D. This is evidenced by the calculation of the average value of the experimental class post-test objective test of 70.0, higher than the average value of the control class post-test objective test of 63.5. The results of the One Way ANOVA test analysis on the test questions obtained a probability value at a significance level of 0.05, the Fcount value = 3.909> F0.05 (3; 10) of 3.71
