Papanda Journal of Mathematics and Sciences Research (PJMSR) is a scientific journal published by Papanda (Paguyuban Panalungtik Sunda) since 2022. This journal was established to provide up-to-date knowledge in the fields of mathematics and science (physics, chemistry, biology) widely to all academics, researchers and students who have an interest in this field. PJMSR is an open-access journal published twice a year (June - December). All submitted manuscripts will be initially reviewed by the editor and then evaluated by two reviewers with relevant fields through a double-blind review process. This is to ensure the quality of the manuscripts published in the journal.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi yang sangat pesat menuntut individu untuk memiliki kemampuan computational thinking guna menyelesaikan berbagai permasalahan secara komputasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan pembelajaran STEM yang terintegrasi dengan computational thinking dalam meningkatkan kemampuan murid dalam memecahkan masalah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pra-eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 30 murid kelas IX-A di SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Mlati. Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes tertulis dan lembar observasi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji Paired simple t-tes dan perhitungan N-Gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran STEM terintegrasi computational thinking terlaksana dengan persentase sebesar 84% berkategori baik, yang termasuk dalam kategori baik. Selain itu, uji Paired simple t-tes menunjukkan nilai sig. sebesar 0,000, dengan rata-rata skor N-Gain untuk kemampuan pemecahan masalah murid sebesar 0,62 berkategori sedang. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran STEM terintegrasi computational thinking memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah murid

Abstract

Media sosial sering digunakan untuk berkomunikasi, berbagi informasi, dan mengisi waktu luang. Penggunaannya dapat memengaruhi prestasi belajar siswa, dengan dampak yang bervariasi tergantung pada konteks dan metode penelitian. Tujuan penelitian ini adlah untuk melakukan analisis yang mendalam terkait pengaruh penggunaan media sosial terhadap prestasi belajar matematika siswa pada fase-E di SMA Negeri 1 Gamping. Dalam pelaksanaannya, penelitian ini melibatkan 30 siswa yang dipilih sebagai sampel untuk mewakili populasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional guna mengungkap hubungan antara intensitas penggunaan media sosial dengan hasil belajar matematika siswa secara lebih terperinci dan objektif, hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara penggunaan media sosial dengan prestasi belajar siswa, dengan nilai thitung > ttabel (21,771 > 2,048) dan nilai sig. 0,000 < 0,05. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media sosial dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar matematika siswa

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menggambarkan pandangan guru dalam mengatasi kesulitan belajar murid Sekolah Dasar dan solusi yang diusulkan terkait tantangan yang dihadapi guru selama proses pembelajaran. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif, dan subjek penelitian adalah guru kelas III di tingkat Sekolah Dasar. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan berbagai perspektif guru dalam mengatasi kesulitan belajar siswa, yang meliputi faktor internal dan eksternal, berbagai hambatan yang sering dihadapi oleh guru matematika selama pembelajaran, serta pendekatan yang digunakan guru untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Solusi yang ditawarkan mencakup penerapan metode 6M, yaitu bekerja sama dengan orang tua untuk mendukung, membimbing, dan mengarahkan murid; memastikan kesiapan dan fokus murid dalam belajar; memberikan motivasi belajar baik dari guru maupun lingkungan keluarga; menggunakan strategi dan media pembelajaran yang menarik; memberikan ruang bagi murid untuk eksplorasi; serta memberikan soal atau tes sesuai dengan kemampuan murid

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan penalaran induktif matematika murid melalui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Group Investigation di SMP Ma'arif Kalibawang pada tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), yang terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Instrumen penelitian meliputi tes kemampuan penalaran induktif, lembar observasi aktivitas pembelajaran matematika, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Group Investigation berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran induktif matematika murid, dengan nilai rata-rata penalaran induktif yang meningkat dari 6,2 pada siklus I menjadi 7,53 pada siklus II. Peningkatan signifikan juga terlihat pada indikator generalisasi dan analogi. Kemampuan generalisasi naik dari 66,16% menjadi 75%, dan kemampuan analogi meningkat dari 46,96% menjadi 69,69%. Selain itu, respon positif murid terhadap pembelajaran meningkat dari 72,74% menjadi 85,47%. Model Group Investigation efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran induktif murid

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' scientific literacy through the SETS visionary investigation group learning model. The learning design uses a pretest-posttest control group design. The data collection technique is descriptive quantitative with a hypothesis test using the nonparametric Two Independent Sample Test, namely the Mann-Whitney test. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in scientific literacy through the SETS visionary investigation group learning model as evidenced by the results of the Mann-Whitney U hypothesis test with (Sig. 2-tailed) 0.000 <0.05. The results of the recapitulation of observations of student activities using the SETS visionary investigation group learning model are included in the very good category. Abstract

This research aims to improve the creative thinking ability and resilience of MTs students in mathematics learning through the application of an ethnomathematical approach based on Datulaya and Panjunan batik motifs on geometry transformation materials. The background of this research is based on the low interest of students in mathematics, as well as the weakness of creative thinking skills and students' resilience in facing difficulties, especially in abstract materials such as geometry. The type of research used was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The experimental class received treatment using an ethnomathematical approach based on local batik motifs, while the control class followed learning with conventional methods. The ability to think creatively mathematically is an important aspect in solving mathematical problems. This study also contains a qualitative descriptive approach to describe creative thinking skills based on the level of resilience of grade IX students of MTs Al-Huda Kelanggaran. The research subjects were classified into three categories of resilience: high, medium, and low. The data collection technique was carried out through questionnaires, tests, interviews, and online documentation. Data is analysed through the process of reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study show that students with high resilience can provide varied, systematic, and innovative solutions. Students with moderate resilience can present more than one solution, although it is lacking in the aspect of detail. Meanwhile, students with low resilience are only able to give limited answers, even though they are still systematic. This research was carried out quantitatively with a quasi-experimental approach on grade IX students of MTs Al-Huda Kelanggaran, Serang City. The research sample consisted of class IX.1 as an experimental class and IX.3 as a control class, with a total of 30 students. Data analysis used hypothesis tests through the independent sample t-test. The findings of the study showed that the average posttest score of students in the experimental class reached 72.56, while the control class was 64.11. This indicates that the ethnomathematical approach has a more positive influence than conventional methods, especially in improving students' creative thinking skills and mathematical resilience. The use of local batik motifs as a contextual learning medium not only deepens the understanding of mathematical concepts but also fosters a sense of pride in regional culture and shapes the character of students. This study recommends integrating elements of local culture into the mathematics curriculum as an innovative and meaningful learning strategy. To develop students' creative thinking skills optimally, creativity is needed in exploring the mathematical elements contained in the Banten culture. Abstract

Practicum is one of the important components in learning biology in Senior High School (SMA). The success of practicum is influenced by the availability of adequate practicum tools and materials, as well as the quality of these tools. This study aims to analyze the role of quality and availability of biology practicum tools and their implications for learning in high school. The research method used was a survey with data collection techniques through questionnaires and observations. The samples of this study were biology teachers and high school students in certain areas. The results showed that the quality and availability of adequate biology lab equipment play an important role in supporting biology learning in high school. Practical tools that are of good quality and adequately available can improve concept understanding, science process skills, and student learning motivation. The implication is the need for increased budget and attention from the school and government related to the provision of quality biology lab equipment and sufficient learning needs in high school

Abstract

La Galigo Museum in Fort Rotterdam, Makassar, South Sulawesi, holds various historical relics of the Gowa-Tallo Kingdom, including South Sulawesi Heritage Objects. These objects reflect geometric elements that have the potential to be explored through the concept of ethnomathematics. This study aims to examine the application of ethnomathematics in South Sulawesi Heritage Objects and its relation to geometry learning. Using ethnographic approach and qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation at La Galigo Museum. The results show that heirlooms such as badik, kawali, and parang contain geometric shapes such as triangles, squares, trapezoids, as well as tubes and spheres. The integration of ethnomathematics in mathematics learning has the potential to improve geometry understanding, student motivation, and appreciation of local culture

Abstract

Laboratory activities play a crucial role in science education, especially in enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, which are essential 21st-century skills. This article examines the essence, competency values, the development of practicum models, and recent research findings on the use of traditional (cookbook/verification) and inquiry laboratories in science education. The study uses 40 recent references, including international and national journals published between 2020-2024 and dissertations. The findings indicate that inquiry-based practicum activities are more effective in fostering higher-order thinking skills compared to traditional models.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of using Benime interactive media on students' interest and learning outcomes in mathematics. A quantitative method was employed using a pre-experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The participants were students of class IX-A at SMP Sabilush Sholihin Socah, selected through random sampling. Instruments used included a questionnaire to assess learning interest and a multiple-choice test to evaluate learning outcomes. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test for normality and Box’s M test for homogeneity. Further analysis involved simple linear regression for learning interest and a paired sample t-test for learning outcomes, using SPSS version 25. The findings revealed that Benime interactive media had a significant positive effect on both students’ interest and outcomes. The regression test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.005) for interest, and the t-test also indicated a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.005) for outcomes. Students reported that the animated and visual features of Benime made the material easier to understand and more enjoyable. These results support previous research suggesting that interactive media can enhance student motivation, comprehension, and academic performance. Learning becomes more effective when students are actively engaged through technology. Therefore, Benime can serve as an effective alternative in mathematics education, especially in addressing challenges related to low interest and achievement. This study highlights the importance of incorporating technology-based media to improve the learning experience, particularly in mathematics, which is often considered a difficult subject. Innovative tools like Benime offer new possibilities for making learning more meaningful and student-centered. Keywords: Benime, interactive media, learning interest, learning outcomes
