Abstract

Traditional medicine is an ingredient that can be derived from plants, animals, minerals, preparations of extract (galenic) or a mixture of these materials which have been used for generations for treatment. The use of medicinal plants as traditional medicine has many advantages. It is easy to obtain because the raw materials can be grown and mixed by yourself, so it is cheaper. People also consider traditional medicine to be safer than chemical drugs because the side effects are relatively smaller.One of the plants that have been used as traditional medicine is the Dayak onion. Dayak onion (Eleutherine americana L. Merr) is empirically used by local people in Kalimantan as a traditional medicinal plant. Dayak onions can be used as raw materials for medicine because they contain active compounds in the form of alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, phenolics, triterpenoids or steroids and anthraquinones which have been known as medicinal raw materials. Until now, the Dayak onion plant is used for the treatment of colon cancer, breast cancer, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, lowering cholesterol, stroke, stomach pain medication after childbirth and ulcer medicine.This study aims to determine the inhibition of Dayak onion (Eleutherine americana L. Merr) on the growth of Stapylococcus aureus bacteria by diffusion method. The research design was a quasi-experimental. The population of Dayak onion bulbs. As a sample of Dayak onion bulbs made in concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100%. With the formula of Randomized Block Design (RAK), 30 samples were obtained. Antimicrobial testing using the diffusion method.The results obtained were resistant at a concentration of 10% - 60% (inhibition zone < 9 mm) and a concentration of 70-90% intermediate (inhibition zone 10-11) and a concentration of 100% sensitive (inhibition zone > 12). After being analyzed statistically using the Kruskal-Wallis test, a significant asymp value was obtained. sig = 0.001 < 0.050. It was concluded that there was an effect of the juice of the Dayak onion (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr) in inhibiting the growth of Stapylococcus aureus bacteria.

Abstract

Banana trees are plants that come from the humid tropics and include herbaceous plants from Southeast Asia, including Indonesian. Several types of bananas are scattered in various parts of Indonesia, namely Ambon bananas, Ambon moss bananas, Barangan bananas, Emas bananas, Kepok bananas, Lampung bananas, jackfruit bananas, horn bananas, and Raja Bulu bananas.One of the food ingredients that can be processed into processed products that have commercial value is bananas. Processing of bananas consists of two processing groups, that is: processing of unripe bananas and processing of ripe (ripe) bananas. One of the processing of ripe bananas can be done by fermentation. The end products of fermentation include energy, carbon dioxide, ethanol, ammonia, lactic acid, and acetic acid. Normally, acetic acid can be consumed after ripe bananas have been fermented for at least 3 days. Making acetic acid with bananas as raw material is called banana vinegar. This study aimed to observe differences in the levels of acetic acid (CH3COOH) in Ambon bananas fermented for 7, 10, 14, and 21 days. The results of the study on average levels of acetic acid in Ambon bananas fermented for 7, 10, 14 and 21 days were 0.59%, 0.68%, 0.77% and 0.84%. And from the results of statistic (p = 0.062 at the 95% confidence level (p > 0.05)).

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) and hypertension is one of the chronic diseases that cause health problems in Indonesia. The government organizes a Management Program Chronic Disease (Prolanis) in order to manage patients with both of these diseases. One of the activities carried out is laboratory tests of urea and serum creatinine. This study aims to describe the number of DM and hypertension sufferers as well as serum urea and creatinine levels in Prolanis participants which checked themselves into the Unit Pelaksana Teknis Pusat Laboratorium Kesehatan Kota Pontianak. The study was conducted using a total sampling method by looking at the medical record data of Prolanis participants, who will check themselves to the Unit Pelaksana Teknis Pusat Laboratorium Kesehatan Kota Pontianak, from January – December 2021 so that data were obtained from 333 patients consisting of 84 men and 349 women with an age range of 26 – 91 years. The results showed that 163 patients were diagnosed with DM and the remaining 170 people suffered from hypertension. The average value of urea levels to male patients is 36.4 mg/dL (14 – 113 mg/dL) and to women it is 27.3 mg/dL (11 – 80 mg/dL). The average value of creatinine levels to men is 1.3 mg/dL (0.5 – 5.3 mg/dL) and to women is 0.8 mg/dL (0.4 – 1.9 mg/dL). Urea and creatinine levels are theoretically associated with the incidence of DM and hypertension.

Abstract

Laboratory examinations are carried out to determine diseases that can affect pregnancy, one of the tests carried out is routine urine. The presence of the hormone HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin) in the urine can be used for a pregnancy test. Kidney function, can be known through a protein test in the urine, the presence of protein in the urine leads to pre-eclampsia in pregnant women. High urine specific gravity can be caused by lack of fluid consumption, the presence of sugar in the urine, and protein in the urine (usually in people with kidney disorders) or certain medications. This study aims to describe the description of urine specific gravity and urine protein levels in pregnant women in the UPK Puskesmas Kampung Dalam, Pontianak Timur. This is a descriptive survey research using the accidental sampling technique. Measurements and observations of research variables were measurements of urine specific gravity and urine protein content which were carried out at the UPK Laboratory of the Kampung Dalam Puskesmas, Pontianak Timur. The sample used is a urine sample when pregnant women who meet predetermined criteria, the examination is carried out using a Urine Analyzer. Respondents of this study found 30 people. The results of 30 respondents pregnant women measuring urine specific gravity whose normal limit is 1,005-1,030 obtained urine specific gravity of 1,010 as many as 6 respondents (20%), 1,015 as many as 9 respondents (30%), 1,020 as many as 2 respondents (6,7% ). 1,025 as many as 6 respondents (20%), and 1,030 as many as 7 respondents (23.3%). While the results of the measurement of urine protein levels were positive 1 as many as 4 respondents (13.3%), positive 2 as many as 1 respondent (3.4%), and Negative as many as 25 respondents with a percentage (83.3%).

Abstract

A Jamaican Cherry is a plant which is often found on the edge of the road and home garden. The part of the Jamaican cherry plant which is often used is the part of the leaves and fruit. Jamaican cherry leaves have many benefits, one of them is can be used as an antibacterial. This study aims to knowing the effect of ethanol extract of Jamaican cherry leaves on inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria diffusion method with a concentration of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80% and 90%. This research used a quasi experiment (Quasi experiment design). The population of this study was the Jamaican cherry leaves extracted from JalanAdiSucipto, Kubu Raya Regency. The sample of this research was Jamaican cherry leaf extract with a concentration of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80% and 90%. The results it was obtained that the average diameter of the inhibition zone produced by ethanol extract of Jamaican cherry leaves (Muntingiacalabura L) in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria diffusion method was 10% concentration of 13.8 mm, 20% was 15.3 mm, 30% of 16.0 mm, of 40% of 17.0 mm, 50% of 18.2 mm, 60% of 20.5 mm, 70% of 21.2 mm, 80% of 21, 3 mm and 90% at 23.7 mm. effective concentration is it a concentration of 50% with an average inhibition zone of 18,2 mm.The simple linear regression test result obtained a significant value of p of 0,000 <α 0,05 which states that Hais accepted, which means that there is influence ofethanol extract Jamaican cherry inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria diffusion method.

Abstract

PRC is the most needed component for current blood transfusion. Plasma is one of the separation product of PRC from whole blood. These components are often discarded due to low plasma transfusion requirements. The residual plasma contains natural ABO agglutinins that can be utilized as polyclonal antisera in blood grouping tests. This study aims to determine the quality of pool residual plasma of PRC component as the ABO blood grouping antisera. This research uses descriptive analytic design in the form of comparative study. Samples of the test materials and the testers were obtained by purposive sampling, which consisting of each 20 units of A, B and O (positive control) plasma, and also 2 units of AB plasma (negative control) as the test materials, and each 25 of A and B fresh blood specimens as the tester materials. All of those materials should meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria of this study. According to their blood type, each of the plasma were mixed proportionaly according to its weight. Then, each pool-plasma and the commercial antisera were tested together against the same fresh blood specimens by the slide method. The degree of each agglutination was observed by 2 panelists, and then analyzed statistically by Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with error rate (α) = 5%. The degree of agglutination by using the B pool-plasma against the A fresh blood was obtained in proportions of 8.0% (2+), 38.0% (3+) and 54.0% (4+) with the difference in proportion of 34.0% (3+) higher and 42.0% (4+) lower than anti-A commercial antisera. Meanwhile, by using the A pool-plasma against the B fresh blood was obtained in proportion of 18,0% (3+) and 82,0% (4+) with difference in proportion of 18,0% (3+) higher and 18,0% (4+) lower than anti-B commercial antisera. There are significant differences between the commercial antisera and the pool residual plasma as blood grouping test materials based on observation of all panelists (p value = 0.000).

Abstract

Pemeriksaan bilirubin total merupakan salah satu pemeriksaan kimia klinik yang membutuhkan penanganan spesimen yang baik. Faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi hasil pemeriksaan adalah cahaya, suhu penyimpanan dan waktu penyimpanan. Oleh karena itu pemeriksaan harus segera dilakukan. Pemeriksaan bilirubin total yang menggunakan sampel plasma EDTA, dapat dengan segera dikerjakan, dibandingkan dengan menggunakan sampel serum, sampel dibekukan terlebih dahulu selama 30 menit dan selanjutnya dapat diperiksa sehingga sampel mudah terpapar cahaya yang dapat mempengaruhi kadar bilirubin total.Tujuan dari penelitian in adalah untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis hail pemeriksaan bilirubin total menggunakan sampel sarum dan plasma EDTA. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah cross sectional, dengan menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu Sample Random Sampling. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa/I Prodi D IV tingkat 3 Jurusan Analis Kesehatan Poltekkes Pontianak sebanyak 42 responden. Pemeriksaan  kadar bilirubin total diperiksa menggunakan metode Jendrassik-Grof. EDTA. Dari hasil tersebut data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan uji Paired Samples t-Test, didapatkan nilai Sig. (2- tailed), yaitu sebesar 0,061 (p > 0,05) pada tingkat kepercayaan 95% sehingga Ha ditolak dan Ho diterima yang berarti tidak terdapat perbedaan hasil pemeriksaan bilirubin total yang menggunakan sampel serum dan plasma EDTA.

Abstract

Processing of coconut oil among the people is still mostly done traditionally by heating. The oil produced has poor quality and is easily rancid. This is because heating can change the oil structure. To overcome this, we need a way that can produce quality oil with a long shelf life. Therefore, there is a need for substances that can improve the quality of oil, named antioxidants. One of the natural antioxidants that can be utilized is soursop leaves. Antioxidants in soursop leaves are acetogenin, steroids, flavonoids, glycosides, interquinone and other active substances.This study aims to analyze the effect of adding soursop leaves to the value of peroxide in coconut oil with iodometry method. The method used in this study was quasi experimental with purposive sampling. The population in this study was coconut oil. The samples in this study are coconut oil without the addition of soursop leaves and coconut oil which was added to the soursop leaves with a concentration of 1.25%, 2.5% and 5%. Based on the results of the statistical analysis of linear regression, it was found that p value = 0.038 <a 0.05 so that there was an effect of adding soursop leaves to the value of peroxide in coconut oil with a contribution of 92.5%.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a fairly high biodiversity, one of which is red shoots (Syzygium oleana). Red shoots are reported to have strong potential to inhibit the growth of bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus because they contain tannins, saponins, flavonoids, and essential oils. To increase effectiveness in exploiting the potential of red shoot leaf extract, it is made in a practical and easy to use dosage form. One of the effective dosage forms for topical therapy is juice. The parameter of this research is the inhibition of red shoot leaf juice (Syzygium oleana) against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This research is a quasi-experimental research (Quasy Experiment). The sample in this study was red shoots leaf juice with 6 repetitions, the number of samples was 24, diluted from the red shoots leaf extract to 5%, the average inhibition zone was 7,33,33 mm, 10% inhibition zone 8 ,17,33 mm, 15% inhibition zone 9 mm and 20% inhibition zone 11.4 mm, amoxicillin positive control and negative control using aquadest. Based on the statistical results of the Anova test, the value of Sig. 0.000 (p= 0.001 < 0.005) which means that there is an effect of red shoot leaf juice (Syzygium oleana) in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus by diffusion method.
