Abstract

The inquiry approach is one of the approaches that can be applied to learning Physics in high school. Inquiry is a discovery approach, but it is different from the discovery approach. Inquiry emphasizes more on searching. Inquiry requires students to become researchers or scientists, but in the context of learning, students are still guided by the teacher, therefore inquiry is said to be a guided discovery approach. Inquiry can be carried out through several systematic steps, namely: 1) Formulate a problem; 2) Propose hypotheses; 3) Collect data; 4) Test hypotheses based on data collected; and 5) Make conclusions. Applying the inquiry approach in mathematics learning can help students learn to find the origin of a formula, concept, or theory in physics. The main targets of inquiry learning activities are (1) maximum student involvement in the process of learning activities; (2) the direction of activities logically and systematically on learning objectives; and (3) developing an attitude of trust in students about what is found in the inquiry process.

Abstract

The study explained the influence of the contextual learning model and critical thinking competence in enhancing argumentative writing proficiency. The sample is 50 students taken by using a multistage sampling technique. The study results indicated that the contextual learning model group has more significant influence than the non-contextual learning model group. There was an interaction between the learning model and critical thinking competence. There was a significant argumentative writing skill difference between the contextual learning model group and the non-contextual learning model group with high critical thinking competence. The argumentative writing skill and contextual learning model were the same as the argumentative writing skill and non-contextual learning model group of low critical thinking ability. This means that critical thinking competence and contextual learning models have a significant influence on argumentative writing proficiency.

Abstract

Traditional mining methods, such as amalgamation and cyanidation in illegal mining, can generate dangerous metal waste discharge, some of them are Zn(AsO4)2.8H2O and Zn(CN)2. Mining waste containing Zn2+, if discarded in water, will harm sea ecosystem, such as fishes, planktons, and others, because Zn(II) cannot be biodegraded in the body which induce toxic effects. Therefore, it takes a sensitive method and has a high selectivity for the separation of metal ions prior to discharge into the environment. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum conditions of immobilization FHA-bentonite in the metal ions Zn (II) and determine% recovery of metal ions Zn(II) in the desorption process by the method of immobilization chelating agent by fatty acid hidroksamik of synthesis kernel oil seeds ketapan that has a high chelate. The method is combined with bentonite in order to maximize the separation and concentration of ions Zn (II). From the research results, optimum pH of 5, optimum contact time of 5 hours, and optimum concentration of 120 ppm was obtained, with FHA-bentonite adsorption capacity as much as 10,595 mg/g and recovery result of 103,18 ppm from 103,38 ppm or approximately 99,806%. Therefore it could be concluded that hydroxamic fatty acid can be used as chelating agent to separate and concentrate Zn(II) ion immobilized into bentonite resin.

Abstract

This classroom action research was motivated by the low level of student learning activity, as seen from the large number of students who lacked responsibility for learning tasks, had difficulty expressing opinions and asking questions, had low levels of reading and writing activity, paid little attention to the teacher's explanations, and lacked the ability to train and apply their own abilities. Therefore, efforts are needed to implement learning models that are able to increase student learning activity, especially towards Civics learning. This classroom action research was carried out in two cycles, each consisting of four stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. In cycle I the number of students in the high activeness category began to increase, namely 72.73% of the total 33 students. Student learning activeness in cycle I had not yet reached the indicators of success, so the second cycle was implemented with several improvements to the shortcomings that occurred in cycle I. In Cycle II, the number of students with high category learning activeness had reached 84.85%. So in cycle II, students' learning activity had reached the indicator of success, because the number of students in the high learning activity category had exceeded 80%. This research proves that the application of the problem based learning model is able to increase student learning activity in Civics subjects in Class IX of SMP Negeri 9 Sampit for the 2023/2024 academic year

Abstract

Education is an essential human entitlement and a crucial catalyst for sustained progress. Quality education influences individuals, societies, and economies by imparting the knowledge, skills, and values needed for personal satisfaction and societal advancement. The concept of ‘Components of quality education' encompasses various elements essential for ensuring that all learners receive an education that is relevant, equitable, and effective. Some educationists contend, however, that determining what makes an education good requires an objective yardstick because education quality is a subjective matter involving multiple dimensions of reference. That being said, this paper looks at a few crucial markers that, if followed, would help solve the issue of low learning standards. A qualitative approach was used by reviewing different literature concerning the topic. The paper briefly addresses several components of providing high-quality education, including a standardized curriculum, excellent teachers, practical students, suitable resources, capable leaders, and understanding parents. As a result of this study, A Teaching Learning Support (TLS) model for quality education has been created.
