Abstract

This research examines the implicature and politeness principles in Praz Teguh's Warung Kopi (PWK) Podcast with Grazellecross. Through a pragmatic approach, the research reveals how conventional and conversational implicatures are applied and how politeness maxims maintain social relations. Grice's implicature theory and Leech's politeness maxims are used to analyze the speech in the podcast. The results of the analysis conducted show that in the podcast there are conventional and conversational implicatures. Politeness principles, such as the maxim of wisdom, the maxim of generosity, the maxim of respect, the maxim of simplicity, the maxim of agreement, and the maxim of sympathy are also found in the conversations in the podcast and become the key in creating a harmonious atmosphere of interaction. This research aims to know conceptually and analytically how implicature and politeness principles work in a communication. In addition, to analyze how speakers convey their intentions indirectly, as well as how they apply civility strategies in maintaining social relations.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze effective strategies for improving student teaching skills through microteaching-based learning. Microteaching is a teaching training method that focuses on mastering basic teaching skills in a small-scale and controlled setting. Using a qualitative approach through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, the study found that strategies such as constructive and continuous feedback, the use of clear assessment rubrics, varied teaching simulations, and individualized mentoring significantly contribute to enhancing students’ pedagogical competence. The results indicate that the integration of these strategies creates a supportive and reflective learning environment, enabling students to identify weaknesses, improve their practices, and build confidence in teaching. The implication of this study highlights the importance of implementing structured and well-planned strategies within microteaching programs to produce professional and competent future teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how the traditional architecture of vernacular houses in Malaka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, adaptively responds to extreme environmental conditions, particularly heavy rainfall and seasonal flooding. Traditional houses, as products of local cultural heritage, demonstrate design strategies that reflect not only cultural values but also ecological functions. The method used is a qualitative approach involving field studies, direct observation, and interviews with traditional leaders and local communities. The findings indicate that architectural elements such as stilt-house structures, natural materials that dry easily, steeply sloped roofs, and rational drainage systems represent forms of adaptation to the threats of rain and flooding. These traditional houses serve not only as symbols of cultural identity but also as expressions of local wisdom in creating disaster-resilient dwellings. This study emphasizes the importance of preserving and developing traditional architecture as a sustainable solution to address climate change and the risks of natural disasters in rural areas.

Abstract

Etiquette is an essential aspect in the process of learning and education that is often overlooked in modern educational practices which tend to focus solely on cognitive achievements. In fact, in the tradition of classical scholarship, etiquette is the primary prerequisite in pursuing knowledge, even more important than mere mastery of the material. This article aims to deeply examine the urgency of etiquette as the fundamental foundation in the educational process, from both pedagogical perspectives and the spiritual values of Islam. This research uses literature study methods by examining various classical and contemporary educational literature. The results indicate that etiquette plays a crucial role in shaping attitudes of respect, discipline, and ethics in the interaction between teachers and students, as well as creating a conducive learning atmosphere that is full of blessings and character. Etiquette also proves to strengthen the intrinsic motivation of learners, and strengthen the positive emotional relationship between educators and learners. Therefore, the internalization of moral values must be a priority at every level of education, whether through the role modeling of teachers, integration into the curriculum, or habituation within the school environment. Education that only emphasizes intellectual aspects without moral values risks producing a generation that is academically intelligent but lacking in morals and ethics. Thus, moral values must be positioned as the main foundation in building a meaningful and sustainable learning process.

Abstract

Manners in learning and learning are fundamental aspects in Islamic education that not only emphasize academic achievement, but also play a big role in the formation of students' character and morals. Ignoring the values of manners can give birth to an intelligent but less moral generation. This article aims to examine the urgency and implementation of adab in the learning and learning process. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. Data was collected from relevant scientific journals, textbooks, and academic articles, and then analyzed using content analysis techniques to prepare a conceptual synthesis of the meaning, role, and internalization of adab in education. The results of the study show that adab is a key element in creating a harmonious and effective learning atmosphere. Student manners include sincere intentions, tawadhu' attitudes, and respect for knowledge and teachers. Meanwhile, the manners of teachers reflect example, sincerity, and justice in educating. Civilized interaction between teachers and students strengthens the internalization of values and creates a conducive learning environment. The main challenges of cultivating adab in the modern era include the influence of digital culture and educational orientation that focuses on academic achievement alone. Therefore, adab must be the main foundation in education to form people who are knowledgeable and have noble character. Education that instills good manners consistently from an early age will produce a generation that is not only superior in knowledge, but also wise in action. This article presents a comprehensive conceptual approach to the integration of adab values into the entire modern educational process and emphasizes the importance of synergy between the roles of families, educational institutions, and society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Pancasila values in the era of globalization among fifth-grade students of Singkawang 08 Public Elementary School. Globalization has a significant impact on daily life, both in social, cultural, and educational aspects, so it is important to instill Pancasila values from an early age. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The research subjects included the principal, class teachers, and fifth-grade students, while data collection techniques were conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the steps of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Pancasila values in schools has been carried out consistently through various habituation programs and structured activities. The value of God is realized by getting students used to praying before and after learning activities, participating in religious education, and holding interfaith activities to foster tolerance. The value of humanity is reflected through mutual respect, community service activities, and empathy training in the school environment. The value of unity is fostered through cross-class cooperation, appreciation of diverse cultures, flag ceremonies, and celebrations of national holidays. The values of democracy are implemented through class discussions and student participation in school organizations. The values of social justice are realized through mutual cooperation activities, fundraising, and caring for others. Thus, this study confirms that elementary education plays a crucial role in instilling Pancasila values as preparation for facing the challenges of globalization. The findings highlight that character education based on Pancasila values is essential to preparing young generations to live harmoniously in a global society.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) describe the resilience level of students in the Guidance and Counseling (BK) study program at  X; 2) describe the academic burnout level of students in the BK study program at  X. This study uses a quantitative approach with a population of all active students in the BK study program. The research sample consisted of 14 students from semester II to semester VIII. The data collection technique used an instrument in the form of a questionnaire consisting of a resilience scale and an academic burnout scale. The results of the study indicate that on average, students in the BK Study Program at  X have a high level of resilience. This finding is obtained from the average score of the resilience instrument that exceeds the cut-off/threshold of the CD-RISC or Resilience Scale, as well as the distribution of respondents who are mostly in the high resilience group. This condition indicates that students are relatively able to face academic pressure with a resilient, optimistic attitude, and are able to adapt to difficulties. This result indicates that resilience plays an important role in maintaining students' psychological well-being. Furthermore, the results of the study also show the distribution of academic burnout levels. Of the total respondents, 4 (25%) were in the low category, 9 (56.25%) in the moderate category, and 1 (6.25%) in the high category. The majority of students fell into the moderate category, meaning they experienced moderate levels of burnout symptoms, such as emotional exhaustion, decreased motivation, and feelings of being overwhelmed by work, but had not yet reached the chronic stage. In other words, academic burnout among students is present, but mostly at a moderate level. Based on the research and analysis, it can be concluded that students in the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at  X have relatively high levels of resilience, while academic burnout levels tended to be in the moderate category, with a small percentage experiencing high levels.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between reward and punishment on students' learning motivation at SMP Negeri X. The background of the study is based on the importance of motivation in the learning process, because motivation plays a major role in influencing students' enthusiasm and participation. Rewards and punishments are seen as educational instruments believed to help improve or decrease certain behaviors in an academic context. Motivation in learning is a key factor that influences students' performance and engagement in the classroom. The research method used is a quantitative correlational with an asymmetrical associative relationship design. The study population included 123 ninth-grade students, and through a simple random sampling technique using the Slovin formula, a sample of 94 students was obtained. The research instrument was a Likert-scale-based questionnaire, consisting of 30 statements for reward and punishment variables with a reliability of 0.952, and 28 statements for learning motivation variables with a reliability of 0.974. Data analysis was carried out through simple regression, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²). The results showed that the provision of rewards and punishments was in the "sufficient" category with an average score of 96.20 (range 91–100). Similarly, student learning motivation was classified as "sufficient" with an average score of 88.89 (range 85–92). The hypothesis test yielded an Fcalculated of 0.058, which is smaller than the Ftable of 3.94 at the 5% significance level. This indicates no significant relationship between the two variables. The R² value of 0.6% indicates that the contribution of rewards and punishments to learning motivation is very low. These findings suggest that teachers should explore alternative strategies to foster students' intrinsic motivation. Thus, this study emphasizes the need for motivational strategies other than rewards and punishments to increase student learning participation.

Abstract

This study aims to: 1) determine the concentration level of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri Y using classical guidance services with reward techniques; 2) describe the implementation of classical guidance services with reward techniques in improving student learning concentration; and 3) determine the effect of classical guidance services with reward techniques on improving the learning concentration of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri Y. This study uses a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental research design. The research population was all 64 eighth grade students of SMP Negeri Y, while the research sample consisted of 22 students selected using the Simple Random Sampling technique. The research instrument used a learning concentration questionnaire that had been adjusted to the research indicators. The data analysis technique used was descriptive analysis to describe the initial and final conditions of student learning concentration, as well as a Paired Sample T-test to determine the significance of the differences before and after the service was given. The results showed that the average student learning concentration before being given classical guidance services was 59.50, while after being given the service increased to 83.05. The results of the Paired Sample T-test showed a sig. The t-value (2-tailed) was 0.000 < 0.05, meaning H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. These findings indicate that the classical guidance service with reward techniques has a significant positive effect on students' learning concentration. Therefore, it can be concluded that classical guidance services with reward techniques have proven effective in improving the learning concentration of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri Y. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for guidance and counseling teachers in selecting appropriate service strategies to help students improve their learning focus. This study also emphasizes the importance of motivation-based approaches in educational settings.
