Abstract

This community service program empowered the Kemuning Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Prabumulih through a Business Feasibility Study Workshop to address managerial challenges and enhance business sustainability. A participatory approach was applied to build technical capacity in five areas: (1) basic financial management, (2) digital marketing strategies using WhatsApp, (3) optimizing limited land production through recycled hydroponics and tiered polybag cultivation, (4) human resource management based on skill mapping, and (5) structured risk mitigation. Collaboration among PT Pertamina EP Prabumulih Field, Sriwijaya State Polytechnic, and the local government was key to success. Outputs included operational documents and behavioral changes in business management. Evaluation showed improved KWT capacity in financial feasibility, production efficiency, and risk readiness, transforming the business model from subsistence to sustainable women’s agripreneurship.

Abstract

Advertisements have been an integral part of social culture, acting as a means to showcase brands and connect with consumers. This article intends to examine the speech acts that can generate meaning and have a persuasive impact by comparing the advertisements for Teh Kotak and Teh Botol Sosro. The focus of the study is on the locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary aspects of speech act theory. By analysing these three communication levels, the research aims to understand how representative speech acts relate to the literal message, its purpose, and its effect on the audience. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study finds that while locutionary acts are essential for delivering product information, it is the illocutionary and perlocutionary acts that play a more significant role in influencing consumer choices and building emotional ties to the brand. This analysis underscores the importance of language in tea advertisements and provides insights into how speech acts can engage and persuade viewers.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are an integral part of the national economy. However, many MSMEs still do not fully understand the importance of corporate identity in enhancing corporate branding and product competitiveness. This article describes a community service initiative in the form of outreach and a bazaar held in Alun-alun Contong Village, Bubutan District, Surabaya. The purpose of this outreach was to increase MSMEs' knowledge of branding, digital marketing tactics, and business law. This market provided a platform for MSMEs to gain practical experience and promote their products to the public. The results of the activity demonstrate how education and practice can increase MSMEs' awareness and ability to create unique brands for their businesses, expand customer networks, and strengthen their position in the community economy.

Abstract

The program in Putat Gede Village, Surabaya, focuses on environmental revitalization and greening through vertical farming using recycled materials such as plastic bottles. Activities include creating mini gardens on limited land and public education to promote urban sustainability. The goal is to provide innovative solutions for communities in utilizing limited land, improving air quality, controlling microclimates, supporting biodiversity, and providing social, psychological, and economic benefits such as small-scale food security. Vertical farming has proven effective in increasing green space, saving land, beautifying the environment, and improving family food security. The program's sustainability is expected to motivate communities to maintain productive green environments, increase participation, foster a culture of recycling, and support SDGs number 11 on sustainable cities.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) are Islamic educational institutions that play a crucial role in shaping religious and social character, aiming to cultivate individuals with noble character who bring benefit to all of creation. This study aims to examine the implementation of the moderate Islamic education model at Sidogiri Islamic Boarding School and Al-Anwar Islamic Boarding School, identify differences in their approaches, analyze the impacts on students and the surrounding community, and explore the challenges faced in its development. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a multisite research design, in which data were obtained through observation and documentation, then analyzed descriptively and interpreted with the support of relevant theories. The findings reveal that both institutions implement moderate Islamic education through learning modules, extracurricular activities, and daily practices that instill anti-violence values, preserve local culture, and foster national commitment. The difference lies in Sidogiri Islamic Boarding School maintaining a strong adherence to traditional salaf values, whereas Al-Anwar Islamic Boarding School integrates salaf traditions with formal education. The impact can be seen in the positive responses from students and their parents toward the provided guidance. The challenges faced include diverse cultural backgrounds that are not always aligned, requiring proper management and structuring so that the teachings can be well accepted and understood.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze difficulties in learning mathematics in multiplication and division in grade III B of SD UPT 023 Pandau Jaya. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach and descriptive design. The research subjects consist of grade III B students, homeroom teachers, and parents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods with data validity testing employing triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The results of the study indicate that most students still experience weaknesses in arithmetic, lack understanding of basic multiplication and division concepts, and have low motivation to learn. These difficulties are caused by weak mastery of concepts since lower grades, insufficient arithmetic practice at home and at school, unvaried teaching methods, and low learning support from parents. Additionally, students tend to memorize procedures without understanding the meaning of the concepts, making it difficult for them to apply them to word problems or different contexts. These findings highlight the need for learning that emphasizes comprehensive conceptual understanding, the use of interactive and contextual methods, and active parental involvement to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum was introduced as an effort to establish a learning process that is flexible, contextual, and student-centered. The implementation of the curriculum in the classroom greatly depends on the active involvement of teachers. However, the transition to the Merdeka Curriculum has not always proceeded smoothly. This study focuses on uncovering the challenges faced by teachers in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum at the elementary education level. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through interviews and direct observations of teachers at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Tangerang. The findings revealed several obstacles, including limited understanding of the new curriculum concepts, difficulties in adjusting teaching strategies, constraints in developing teaching materials, and challenges in applying differentiated learning in the classroom. Nevertheless, teachers’ enthusiasm to continue growing serves as a key asset in ensuring the successful implementation of the curriculum.

Abstract

Non-aeronautical revenue is a crucial source of income for airports to support operations and increase profitability, particularly at Fatmawati Soekarno Airport in Bengkulu. This study aims to analyze the influence of advertising business optimization and lounge facility development on increasing non-aeronautical revenue at the airport. The research employs a qualitative method using a literature review approach, examining relevant literature and previous studies. The findings indicate that effective management of advertising media—both in print and digital formats—as well as the provision of comfortable and high-quality lounge facilities significantly contribute to attracting passengers and business partners, ultimately enhancing non-aeronautical revenue. However, the study also recognizes that many other factors may influence this revenue stream. Therefore, further research is needed to identify other relevant variables.

Abstract

Aging is a natural process that increases the risk of health problems, with older adults often facing both physical and mental challenges. Efforts to improve public understanding of elderly health and the need for regular check-ups are essential. Health education from the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) plays a role in raising awareness about the correct use of medication. Regular health examinations for the elderly are important for early detection, prevention of complications, and appropriate treatment, covering blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, weight, and height. This program involved older adults in Panau Village, Tawaeli District, using a participatory empowerment approach that emphasizes community involvement. The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of regular health tests to prevent degenerative diseases, provide routine check-ups, and deliver health education to the elderly and their families to encourage healthy lifestyles. Activities included cholesterol, blood sugar, uric acid, and blood pressure checks, as well as health education. The results of this community service program will be published in the Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Indonesia (JPMI).

Abstract

Training on the application of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculation was conducted in Dusun Putak Loa Duri Ilir, Loa Janan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, to improve the understanding of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis) in setting accurate and competitive product selling prices. This activity employed a participatory training method covering material on calculating raw material costs, indirect costs, and determining selling prices based on the desired profit margin. Participants gained insights into the importance of COGS in preventing business losses, estimating profits, and remaining competitive in the market. The results indicated an increase in participants’ ability to calculate COGS in detail and set selling prices aligned with production costs. This training is expected to serve as a foundation for sustainable business development and enhance the competitiveness of local products in the market.
