Abstract

In the dynamic urban context of Jakarta, the preservation of regional languages faces significant challenges, especially among the younger generation. This study examines the role of the Huria Christian Batak Protestant Church (HKBP, a Protestant Batak Christian Church) in maintaining the existence of the Batak language in the midst of urbanization, by applying social identity theory to understand the dynamics of language preservation and cultural identity. Using a qualitative approach, the study involved in-depth interviews with 30 young congregations and 10 key HKBP figures, as well as participatory observation of church activities over a six-month period. The results of the analysis revealed that HKBP's main efforts in preserving the Batak language are centered on the use of the language in worship, with 75% of respondents stating the importance of this practice. The study also identified several additional initiatives, such as cultural seminars, cultural performances, and the use of traditional musical instruments in worship. The main challenges faced include the low enthusiasm of the younger generation (60% of respondents), the pressure of assimilation of metropolitan culture, and the limitations of effective preservation programs outside the context of worship. The findings emphasized the importance of developing more comprehensive and innovative strategies, including the potential use of digital technology and social media, to increase the appeal of the Batak language among urban youth. This research results in a religious community-based language preservation model that can be applied in urban contexts, offering a new perspective in urban sociolinguistic studies and cultural diversity management. The strategic recommendations are prepared to maximize the role of religious institutions as agents of cultural preservation, with a focus on synergy between churches, families, and urban Batak communities. This study highlights the potential and challenges of religious institutions in bridging tradition and modernity, as well as maintaining cultural identity amid urban social complexity. Although limited to the context of HKBP in Jakarta, these findings provide valuable insights for the study of minority language preservation in urban environments more broadly

Abstract

The meaning of language is influenced not only by linguistic structures, but also by the cognitive processes that occur in the human mind. This article discusses how cognitive processing, such as perception, memory, and reasoning, plays a role in the formation of language meaning. This study uses a theoretical approach that integrates cognitive linguistics with psychological science to explain the relationship between mental representation and meaning. The results of the study show that the formation of meaning is a dynamic process involving sensory experience, social context, and pragmatic use of language. This knowledge is expected to enrich insights into how humans understand and use language in various communication situations. The cognitive process in the formation of language meaning includes several main stages, namely sensing, storage in working memory, and interpretation based on context. This process depends on the mental schema that the individual has, which is acquired through social experiences and interactions. Cognitive processing is also influenced by factors such as cultural bias, individual experience, and level of familiarity with a language. Meaning is not static, but rather evolves over time and depends on the dynamics of communication. In linguistic interactions, individuals utilize mechanisms such as analogies and associations to understand new or complex meanings. Cognitive processes play an important role in the formation of language meaning. Meaning is determined not only by grammatical structure but also by the way individuals process information through experience and context. This research emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to understanding the dynamics of meaning formation, which involves linguistics, psychology, and sociology. By understanding this process, we can improve strategies for language teaching, translation, and intercultural communication.

Abstract

The General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) serves as a decision-making mechanism within a Limited Liability Company (LLC) and plays a crucial role; however, it is often utilized as a tool for personal or specific group interests, leading to abuses in the conduct of GMS procedures. This research aims to analyze the legal mechanisms that determine the validity of changes within the company through the organization of the GMS, as well as the legal accountability in cases of abuse of the General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) by Commissioners and the legal consequences for the minutes of meeting decisions made by a Notary, as explained in Case Decision Number 214/Pdt.G/2021/PN Jkt.Utr.This study employs a normative juridical method with a descriptive-analytical research typology. In this context, the abuse of GMS execution by Commissioners or related parties that harms other shareholders or third parties will be analyzed within the framework of unlawful acts. The results of this study indicate that the validity of changes within the company through the execution of the GMS heavily relies on clear meeting call procedures, qualified quorum, shareholder approval, and endorsement by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, as stipulated in the company's Articles of Association and relevant laws concerning Limited Liability Companies. Legal accountability and legal implications for the minutes of meeting decisions made by a Notary become invalid and non-binding due to changes in the company's structure—whether in terms of amendments to the Articles of Association, share transfers, or changes in management composition—because they are not based on compliance with the Company Law (UUPT) and the company's Articles of Association. This provides an opportunity for aggrieved parties to file civil lawsuits or criminal charges.

Abstract

Global food security faces serious challenges due to conflicts between countries and climate change, which increase food insecurity, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. Various programs, such as the national food barn and the revitalization of community food barns, have been initiated by the government to maintain food security. However, the integration of Islamic economics in this policy has not been utilized optimally. This study analyzes the application of Islamic economics in the revitalization of community food barns through a philosophical, contextual, and practical approach, using literature studies. The results show that the community's food barn has a strong theological foundation from the Qur'an and Hadith, and can be developed more effectively through Islamic economic instruments, such as zakat, infaq, and sharia financing. The research recommendations include the application of Islamic economic integration in the management of community food barns and the development of an operational framework to support its implementation

Abstract

The spirit of reformation reminds us of the struggle and sacrifice of the reformers in restoring the truth of the Bible, which is believed to be God's revelation to humanity. The Bible serves as the source, foundation, and highest standard of truth, representing the final authority in all aspects of the lives of believers. Educators play a central role in embodying the spirit of reformation, especially through teaching the five main principles: Sola Scriptura (Scripture as the sole infallible source of truth), Sola Gratia (salvation by God's grace alone), Sola Fide (salvation obtained through faith alone), Solus Christus (Christ alone, as the only Mediator between God and humanity), and Soli Deo Gloria (glory to God alone).  The spirit of reformation, which focuses on the purification of medieval teachings by the reformers, presents a significant challenge for Christian Education (CE) today. Amidst the changes of the times and the influence of modern values, CE academics must return to the core of the spirit of reformation to uphold and teach the church’s faith and the truth of the Bible. In this way, Christian Education can continue to be a means of shaping character and faith based on the truth of God's Word.
