Abstract

A 56-year-old man, an active police officer, complained of acute pain and instability of the right knee. Medical history included an unoperated total rupture of the right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) at the age of 23 years and grade 3 right genu osteoarthritis. Comorbidities included obesity (BMI 31.2 kg/m²), hypertension, dyslipidemia, hyperuricemia, and herniated nucleus pulposus (HNP). Physical examination revealed grade 1 right lateral collateral ligament (LCL) laxity, tenderness at the lateral joint line, limited range of motion, and crepitation. MRI confirmed right ACL rupture, right LCL sprain, medial meniscus tear, and grade 3 osteoarthritis. Conservative management included etoricoxib for pain, febuxostat for hyperuricemia, amlodipine for hypertension, rosuvastatin for dyslipidemia, anti-inflammatory herbal supplements, and omeprazole for gastrointestinal protection. Joint aspiration was performed to reduce effusion, and intra-articular Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy was applied. The patient underwent a three-month physical rehabilitation program in three phases: initial, intermediate, and advanced. Therapeutic modalities included TENS, therapeutic ultrasound, gentle massage, muscle strengthening, proprioceptive, and aerobic exercises. The use of crutches and knee braces was reduced as joint stability and strength improved. During rehabilitation, patients showed significant progress: decreased pain, improved range of motion, muscle strength, and joint stability, and the ability to return to professional activities. The comprehensive approach and interdisciplinary collaboration enabled optimal functional recovery despite the presence of comorbidities and complex medical history.

Abstract

Elderly individuals aged 60 and above often encounter various challenges in daily activities, such as dressing up. These challenges include difficulties in donning and doffing clothing, the need for frequent changes of clothes, struggles with clothing due to tremors, and obstacles faced by some elderly individuals when dressing while seated. As individuals age, there is typically an increase in their level of dependency. This case research is conducted at the Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Budi Pertiwi (Elderly Care home) in Bandung, focusing on the design of adaptive clothing. Utilizing a design thinking approach, this research identifies the challenges and needs of the elderly population. The design thinking process includes data collection through observations and interviews, analyzing the primary needs of the elderly, ideating and developing potential solutions, and conducting testing with prospective users. The research addresses six key aspects: comfort, ease of use, flexibility of movement, aesthetic appeal, convenience in storage and washing, and safety to minimize the risk of injury. This research was performed to develop adaptive clothing that simplifies the elderly's dressing and undressing process. The adaptive clothing design aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) on “Good Health and Well-being” by enhancing the quality of life for the elderly through tailored designs that cater to their unique needs.

Abstract

Education based on local wisdom plays an essential role in shaping students' character in alignment with cultural values. The Tri Hita Karana philosophy, a fundamental concept in Balinese society, emphasizes the balance of relationships between humans and God (Parahyangan), humans and their fellow beings (Pawongan), and humans and nature (Palemahan). This research aims to design and develop an ethnopedagogical concept based on Tri Hita Karana as the foundation of educational values. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a constructive approach, involving literature studies, interviews with cultural figures and educators, as well as observations of educational practices in Bali. The findings indicate that the implementation of Tri Hita Karana values in education can be carried out through three main approaches: developing a curriculum based on local wisdom, integrating Tri Hita Karana values into existing subjects, and implementing educational programs oriented toward social, environmental, and spiritual balance. By incorporating the Tri Hita Karana philosophy into the education system, students not only acquire academic knowledge but also develop an awareness of the importance of maintaining harmony in life. In conclusion, ethnopedagogy based on Tri Hita Karana has great potential in strengthening character education and shaping a generation with balanced intellectual, social, and spiritual intelligence.

Abstract

The development of constitutional law in Indonesia has significantly transformed since the 1998 reform, especially through amendments to the 1945 Constitution aimed at strengthening democracy, the rule of law, and government transparency. However, challenges persist in fully realizing democratic principles and good governance, including political oligarchy, biased election organizers, weak checks and balances between state institutions, money politics, and the high presidential threshold, which hinder fair political competition. This research aims to analyze the dynamics of constitutional law in Indonesia, identify challenges in the practice of democracy, and formulate the reconstruction of an ideal constitutional legal system to strengthen the rule of law and substantive justice. Using the normative juridical and empirical approaches, this research examines the applicable regulations and compares them with the constitutional system in several other countries. The results show that reforming the electoral system, strengthening the independence of the EMB, and increasing the effectiveness of law enforcement are the main steps needed to improve the constitutional law system in Indonesia. As a solution, this study recommends the reconstruction of constitutional law regulations that are more responsive to the challenges of the times by emphasizing the strengthening of the supremacy of the constitution, improving the electoral system, and increasing transparency and accountability in government. The novelty of this research lies in analyzing the weaknesses of the post-reform constitutional legal system and strategic proposals to build a more substantial and equitable democracy. With a more comprehensive legal reform, Indonesia is expected to build a more inclusive, accountable, and democratic system based on the rule of law.

Abstract

The South African automotive industry has undergone significant transformation from a domestically protected market to a globally integrated export-oriented sector. This paper examines the institutional and firm-level dynamics that have shaped this evolution, particularly under the Motor Industry Development Programme (MIDP) and its successor, the Automotive Production and Development Programme (APDP). The study aims to understand how industrial policies and institutional configurations interact to enable or constrain structural transformation and inclusive development. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research draws on policy documents, industry reports, and interviews with key stakeholders. Findings reveal that while policy reforms have effectively enhanced export performance and attracted foreign direct investment, they have fallen short in fostering deep supplier development, local content expansion, and technological upgrading. Moreover, institutional fragmentation and weak coordination have limited the developmental impact of these policies. The study also explores emerging challenges such as the shift toward electric vehicles and the need for green industrialization, arguing that future policy must address both competitiveness and sustainability. The research underscores the necessity of coherent institutions and localized capability building to realize inclusive industrial transformation. These insights have implications for industrial policy design not only in South Africa but also in other developing economies pursuing structural transformation in the context of global value chains and environmental imperatives.
