Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of different levels of liquid sugar (borassus flabellifer) on the physical quality of marinated pork. The physical quality parameters tested included water-holding capacity, cooking loss, and L*a*b* color values. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with four liquid sugar treatment levels: P1 (1000 ml), P2 (1500 ml), P3 (2000 ml), and P4 (2500 ml), with each treatment repeated four times. The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and followed by Duncan’s test if significant effects were found. The results of the statistical analysis showed that liquid sugar levels had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on water-holding capacity, cooking loss, and lightness (L*); however, the treatments did not have a significant effect (P > 0.05) on redness (a*) and yellowness (b*) values. It is concluded that the addition of liquid sugar at levels up to 2,500 ml can increase water-holding capacity, reduce cooking loss, and increase the L* value in marinated pork, thereby improving the meat’s physical quality.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low mathematics learning process and outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 088/VIII Suo-Suo. Some students have not yet achieved the established mastery criteria, and student engagement in learning remains low. Therefore, an engaging learning model is needed that can increase student engagement and learning outcomes. One model used is Game-Based Learning (GBL), a learning model that utilizes games as part of the learning process. The study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, implemented in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 088/VIII Suo-Suo. Data were obtained through observation sheets of teacher and student activities and learning outcome tests. The learning model implemented was Game-Based Learning (GBL) to increase student engagement in mathematics. The results showed an increase in teacher and student activity. Teacher activity increased from 68.75% in Cycle I, Meeting I, to 100% in Cycle II, Meeting II. Student activity increased from 67.78% to 88.52%. This increase in activity indicates that students are increasingly active and enthusiastic about participating in learning through games. Learning outcomes also improved, with an average score increasing from 61.10 in Cycle I to 88.98 in Cycle II. The implementation of the Game-Based Learning (GBL) model improved the mathematics learning process and outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 088/VIII Suo-Suo. This improvement was evident in teacher activity, student activity, and the average learning outcome scores. Thus, the Game-Based Learning model can be an effective alternative learning model for improving student engagement and mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract

School financial management is a crucial aspect of educational administration, aiming to ensure the effectiveness, efficiency, transparency, and accountability of fund utilization. From an Islamic economic perspective, financial management is not merely administrative; it must be grounded in Islamic values such as trustworthiness (amanah), justice, transparency (syafafiyah), accountability (mas'uliyyah), and public interest (maslahah). However, practical challenges persist in applying Sharia principles to financial management within educational institutions, necessitating a deeper analysis of their alignment with Sharia economic legal principles. This study employs a qualitative approach through field research. Data were collected via observation, interviews, and document analysis involving the madrasah head, treasurer, school committee, and other parties involved in financial management. Data analysis proceeded through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was verified through source and technique triangulation. The research findings indicate that financial management at Madrasah Aliyah in East Tanjung Jabung Regency is generally conducted through stages of planning, implementation, recording, reporting, and accountability in accordance with prevailing regulations. From a Sharia perspective, most management practices reflect the principles of trustworthiness, transparency, and accountability; however, certain aspects require improvement—specifically, optimizing information disclosure to all stakeholders and strengthening the financial managers' understanding of Sharia-based financial governance. Supporting factors for implementing Sharia principles include the school's commitment, clear regulations, and internal oversight systems, whereas inhibiting factors include limited human resources and a lack of training regarding Sharia financial management.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the areca nut trade, which serves as a key economic activity for the community of Nipah Panjang II Urban Village, Nipah Panjang District. In practice, these transactions involve farmers, traders, and collectors, encompassing processes such as price determination, quality inspection, weighing, and payment. The study aims to examine the areca nut trading practices within the Nipah Panjang II community and analyze them from the perspective of Islamic business ethics. A qualitative method with a descriptive approach was employed. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation. Research informants included areca nut farmers (sellers), traders or collectors, and supporting informants knowledgeable about the trade practices in the area. The findings reveal that the trading process involves several stages: preparation of the areca nuts, handover or collection of goods, quality inspection, weighing, price determination, agreement, and payment. Challenges identified include price fluctuations, limited access to market price information, discrepancies in quality assessment, and issues regarding the weighing process. From the perspective of Islamic business ethics, the trading practices generally reflect principles of honesty, justice, trustworthiness, openness, responsibility, and mutual consent (tarāḍin); however, certain aspects require improvement—specifically regarding price transparency, weighing accuracy, and clarity regarding product quality. Consequently, the consistent application of Islamic business ethics is essential to ensure that the areca nut trade is conducted fairly and honestly, ultimately benefiting both sellers and buyers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Islamic economic principles in the marketing practices of salted fish businesses in Lorong Nelayan, East Muara Sabak District. Islamic economics teaches that marketing activities must be grounded in values such as honesty (ṣidq), trustworthiness (amanah), justice ('adl), and transparency, while avoiding elements of gharar (uncertainty), tadlis (deception), and practices that disadvantage others. This research employs a qualitative method using a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving salted fish business operators in Lorong Nelayan. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the majority of salted fish business operators have implemented several Islamic economic principles in their marketing activities, such as maintaining product quality, treating consumers courteously, and providing information regarding prices and product types. However, some practices were found to be not fully aligned with Islamic economic principles—such as a lack of transparency regarding the quality of certain products and business competition that does not fully reflect the values of justice and Islamic business ethics. Overall, salted fish marketing practices in Lorong Nelayan are moving toward the application of Islamic economic principles; nevertheless, there is still a need to enhance the business operators' understanding and awareness of Islamic business ethics so that marketing activities can be conducted more professionally, fairly, and in accordance with Sharia.
