Abstract

The transformation of information landscapes and digital culture has significantly influenced youth participation in religious activities in Leuhan Village, Johan Pahlawan District. This study aims to analyse the forms of youth involvement in religious programs (such as majelis taklim, sermons, Maulid celebrations, and Dalail Khairat), identify internal and external inhibiting factors, and formulate participatory and contextual strategies for religious development. A qualitative approach was employed through interviews and observations, with data analysed using Miles & Huberman's model (data reduction, presentation, and verification) to ensure consistency with field evidence. The findings indicate that youth involvement remains low, sporadic, and limited to technical roles, thereby failing to strengthen religious knowledge and internalise values. Inhibiting factors include weak personal motivation, lack of family support, peer influence, dominance of social media, and religious program designs that are less participatory and not youth-friendly. This study recommends more innovative and participatory development strategies, such as reformulating activities to be more interactive, involving youth in strategic roles, strengthening religious peer networks, and fostering synergy between families, mosques, and communities. This approach is expected to increase interest, sense of belonging, and commitment to religious values among youth, enabling them to remain steadfast in facing the challenges of the digital era.

Abstract

This study analyses the role of public relations management in improving school quality at Madrasah Aliyah Ar Risalah Padang. This Islamic educational institution continues to adapt to the development of digital communication in the era of society 5.0. Using a qualitative design with sociological and anthropological approaches, this research applies digital content analysis to the institution’s official website and Instagram publications from 2019 to 2024, combined with relevant literature. The theoretical framework integrates three perspectives, namely Digital Public Relations by Kent and Taylor, Total Quality Management, and Image Restoration Theory by Benoit. Through these perspectives, the study explores how public relations contributes to institutional communication, quality assurance, and the strengthening of reputation. The findings show that the public relations division plays a central role in fostering transparent communication, sustaining continuous interaction with stakeholders, enhancing teacher professionalism, and disseminating student achievements that support institutional branding. Public relations practices at Ar Risalah also enhance the institution’s ability to respond to issues by fostering openness and implementing corrective measures that maintain public trust. This study concludes that integrated public relations management functions as a strategic instrument for enhancing school quality while positioning Ar Risalah as a competitive model for digitally oriented Islamic education.

Abstract

The digital era has fundamentally transformed the paradigm of Islamic education, creating serious challenges for the preservation of local cultural identity in the madrasah education system. This study analyzes strategies for strengthening cultural identity as a form of resistance to digital hegemony in the construction of the madrasah curriculum. Using a qualitative design with a comparative case study approach at MAN 1 and MAN 2, Parepare, this study explores how madrasahs integrate local cultural values with the demands of educational digitization. Data were collected through in- depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that madrasahs face structural challenges in including inconsistent curriculum changes, technological gaps across generations, and regulatory limitations that hinder the integration of local culture. Madrasahs respond to these challenges through strategies of spiritual habituation, the use of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Program, the development of culture-based extracurricular activities, and the implementation of balanced technology control. The findings show that integrating local culture, such as the value of "Tabe," into Islamic Cultural History learning can strengthen students' identity while developing critical digital literacy. This study contributes to the development of an Islamic education model that is capable of preserving local wisdom in the era of digital globalization.

Abstract

Digital technologies have transformed Islamic communication by expanding da’wah beyond localised religious preaching into transnational digital spaces where religious narratives intersect with global cultural and political perceptions. While existing studies have examined digital da’wah primarily as a pedagogical, sociological, or media phenomenon, its potential role as a source of attraction-based influence remains underexplored. This study addresses this gap by conceptualising digital da’wah as a form of Islamic soft power operating within contemporary digital environments. Using a qualitative literature review and conceptual synthesis, the article integrates soft power theory with scholarship on digital Islamic communication, religious moderation, and platform governance. The analysis develops a conceptual model that illustrates how platform dynamics mediate digital da’wah narratives, as interpreted through audience reception and translated into soft power outcomes such as cultural attractiveness, moral legitimacy, and narrative influence. The findings demonstrate that moderation-oriented digital da’wah, when supported by ethical credibility and algorithmic visibility, contributes to shaping global perceptions of Islam through non-coercive means. This study advances theoretical discussions by positioning digital religious communication as a legitimate domain of soft power analysis and offers a framework for examining religion’s role in global symbolic politics.

Abstract

This research explores the socialization of New Student Admissions at the high school level, which often occurs in a one-way, information-rich, and dialogue-deficient manner. This approach can lead to procedural misconceptions and reduced student engagement. The study aims to clarify the use of moving classes as a socialization method for PMB at SMAN Plosoklaten, identify necessary information and student segmentation, and develop a sustainable implementation model. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study design, the research involves teachers, grade XII students, and selected university representatives. Data collection includes observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, analyzed through an interactive model involving data reduction, presentation, and conclusion formulation. Findings show that moving classes enhances student participation and comprehension by organizing socialization through thematic stations, which facilitate movement, discussion, simulation, and Q&A sessions in small groups. Recommended stations include introductory programs, selection pathways, fees, scholarships, lecture simulations, and consultations. The study emphasizes the segmented information needs of students, particularly in study program interests, scholarships, financing, selection procedures, and career prospects, necessitating differentiated visit routes and consulting services. Implications include managerial prerequisites such as infrastructure readiness, scheduling, facilitator development, technology integration, feedback-driven evaluation, and collaboration among parents, colleges, and universities, ensuring consistent and sustainable model implementation. These findings expand moving classes beyond formal learning to educational transition, reducing administrative errors and enhancing students' information literacy before higher education enrollment.

Abstract

This study discusses the contribution of the method of codification (tadwīn) of hadith to the development of early Islamic historiography. The relationship between the tradition of hadith and history is often viewed in a dichotomous manner; hadith is considered a strictly theological-juridical domain, while history (tārikh) is considered a loose narrative. This research aims to deconstruct this view by analyzing the crucial role of hadith codification (tadwīn) in shaping Islamic historiographic methodology. Using qualitative research methods with a descriptive-analytical approach, this study traces the epistemological transition from oral to written traditions in the early centuries of the Hijri. This study outlines four main contributions, namely: (1) hadith as a source of historical information, (2) hadith collection methods that influence historical data tracking techniques, (3) sanad and matan criticism methods that introduce the principle of validation in historical writing, and (4) methods of compiling hadith books that form the structure of historiographic writing, such as the use of tabaqāt approaches and biographies of figures. This paper shows that the methods in the study of hadith have provided a strong epistemological foundation for the Islamic historiographic tradition, especially in the aspects of source accuracy and systematics in the preparation of historical narratives.

Abstract

The development of education in the era of Society 5.0 demands significant changes in learning approaches, including in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), where lecture-based methods have long dominated. This study aims to analyse the transformation of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning methods from a lecturing approach to participatory methods by reviewing various literature and relevant research published in nationally accredited journals. This research employs a literature review and thematic analysis to identify patterns, trends, and implications arising from this shift in learning approaches. The findings indicate that the lecture method has limitations in developing 21st-century competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy. Conversely, participatory methods have been proven more effective in enhancing student engagement, deepening conceptual understanding, and strengthening the internalisation of religious values through interactive and reflective activities. This transformation also requires support in the form of teachers’ pedagogical competence and digital literacy, school infrastructure readiness, and flexible curriculum policies. The study concludes that participatory methods constitute a strategic approach in IRE learning to address the challenges of the Society 5.0 era and to shape students who are religious, adaptive, and well-characterised.

Abstract

Pharmaceutical services in Indonesia play a key role in supporting public health, especially at the primary care level, such as community health centres. Among Muslim communities, these services are not only focused on medical and technical aspects but also serve as a medium for da’wah by integrating Islamic educational values. This study aims to explore the role of Muslim pharmacists at the Bandar Khalipah Community Health Centre in Deli Serdang Regency in incorporating da’wah messages, such as patience, discipline, sincerity, and avoidance of wastefulness, into interactions with Muslim patients during pharmaceutical practice. The research used a qualitative case study approach, including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, supported by thematic analysis to identify key patterns in service practices. The findings show that pharmacists and pharmacy assistants regularly incorporate Islamic prophetic values in patient interactions, both through direct communication and spiritual practices such as prayer and reciting basmallah during medication preparation. Muslim patients reported receiving more holistic care that addresses both medical and spiritual needs, which helped improve adherence to treatment and psychological comfort. This study contributes by reinforcing the integration of Islamic educational values into the pharmacy profession and by expanding the literature on Islamic pharmacy and Sharia-based biomedical ethics. The implications highlight the need for developing pharmaceutical service policies that are sensitive to religious and cultural values, as well as fostering further research on how integrating Islamic values impacts healthcare quality in various settings.

Abstract

This study examines Asma Barlas's thoughts on the rereading of the Qur'an text as a form of liberation of women from patriarchal interpretation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and a literature review, this study examines Asma Barlas' main works, especially Believing Women in Islam: Unreading Patriarchal Interpretations of the Qur'an, as well as secondary literature relevant to gender interpretation and Islamic feminism. The study's results show that Asma Barlas rejects the notion that the Qur'an is patriarchal. He emphasized that gender bias in interpretation is a historical and social product of male mufasir who live in a patriarchal system. Using historical and hermeneutic arguments, Barlas constructs an epistemology of egalitarianism rooted in the concept of monotheism, in which there is no hierarchy of power between men and women. His reinterpretation of verses such as Q.S. An-Nisa [4]:34 and Q.S. Al-Baqarah [2]:228 affirms that the terms qiwamah and "male degree" do not confer legitimacy or superiority, but rather entail functional social responsibility. Thus, this study confirms that the Qur'an contains the values of justice and gender equality, which can serve as a theological foundation for women's liberation in contemporary Islam.

Abstract

The interpretation of Kawniyyah verses in Haqā’iqu at-Tafsīr by Abu ‘Abdirrahmān as-Sulamī highlights the dialogue between modern scientific approaches and the Sufistic-Isyārī style. This study employs a qualitative library research method, with content analysis and a thematic approach, to examine verses concerning the sun, moon, earth, mountains, rivers, and stars. Primary data were obtained from the text of Haqā’iqu at-Tafsīr, while secondary data came from literature on Isyārī tafsir and scientific interpretation of Kawniyyah verses. The findings show that as-Sulamī interprets cosmic phenomena not only as physical realities but also as spiritual symbols: the sun as al-ma'rīfah illuminating bodily faculties, the moon as al-uns purifying intentions, mountains as saints stabilising the soul, rivers as organs of remembrance, and stars as lights guiding the heart. This interpretation is presented in the form of parables, thus not negating the zhāhir meaning nor falling into the blameworthy tafsir bi al-ra’y. The study identifies a research gap: previous works tend to separate Isyārī from scientific tafsir. In contrast, this research offers a dialogical reading that places Sufi cosmology alongside modern scientific discourse on Kawniyyah verses. The novelty of this study lies in its systematic mapping of Kawniyyah verse interpretations in Haqā’iqu at-Tafsīr and in its demonstration of the potential for developing contemporary tafsir studies that integrate revelation, spirituality, and scientific knowledge
