Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of fatherless on juvenile delinquency in high school students in Teluk Kuantan. The population in this study were students of SMAN, MAN, and SMKN in Teluk Kuantan with a total of 108 students in 4 schools in Teluk Kuantan and the sample used was 108 subjects. The research method used is quantitative with correlational design with quota sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires that measured the level of fatherlessness and juvenile delinquency, which were then analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques. The results of the analysis using multiple linear regression techniques obtained the coefficient of determination (R2) = 0.341 with a significance value of p=0.00 (p<0.05), meaning that there is a significant influence between fatherless conditions and juvenile delinquency. So it can be concluded that the higher the level of fatherlessness experienced by a teenager, the greater their tendency to commit deviant behavior. The conclusion of this study confirms that fatherlessness is one of the main factors that influence juvenile delinquent behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to adapt the Digital Hoarding Questionnaire (DHQ) measurement tool into Indonesian and test its factor structure using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) approach. The background of this study is the increasing phenomenon of digital hoarding amidst the massive use of digital technology, especially among students and urban communities. Scale adaptation was carried out through several stages, starting from forward translation, back-translation, content validation by experts, and trials on 302 participants selected through purposive sampling techniques. The results of the reliability test showed that the Indonesian version of the DHQ had a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.882, indicating high internal reliability. The KMO and Bartlett's Tests showed that the data was worthy of further analysis (KMO = 0.887; p <0.001). Exploratory factor analysis produced a one-factor structure with most items having a loading factor above 0.4. This scale is proven to be valid and reliable for use in the context of Indonesian culture. This study recommends the use of the Indonesian version of the DHQ in digital psychology research, as well as further testing through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and application to a wider population.

Abstract

Premarital sexual behavior among adolescents has become an increasing concern in the digital era, given its potential health and psychosocial risks. The lack of comprehensive sexual education in schools often results in adolescents obtaining misleading information from media or peers. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of psychoeducationin enhancing the knowledge of 11th-grade students at X Senior High School regarding the risks of premarital sexual behavior. A quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest was employed, involving 20 purposively selected students. The psychoeducational intervention consisted of two face-to-face sessions utilizing lectures, group discussions, educational videos, and role-play. The level of knowledge was measured using a validated premarital sexual behavior scale. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ knowledge (t(19) = 7.027; p < 0.001), with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.571). The negative correlation between pretest and posttest scores suggested that students with lower initial knowledge experienced greater improvement. These findings support that psychoeducation is an effective method for enhancing adolescents’ understanding of sexual risks. Further research is recommended to be conducted with a more diverse population and to consider external factors such as family influence and media exposure.

Abstract

The advent of information and communication technology has significantly changed children's daily lives, with 84.71% of students accessing the internet. While urban areas show higher rates of internet usage (89.47%) compared to rural areas (77.78%), mobile phones dominate as the primary means of internet access. This increased connectivity has resulted in the growing popularity of gaming, which, while entertaining, is associated with negative impacts such as addiction, mental disorders, and decreased physical health and academic performance. Studies show that almost all early adolescents play game online daily, with approximately 7% playing for more than 30 hours per week, raising concerns about their well-being. Two key factors influencing addiction include self-esteem and emotional regulation; children with low self-esteem are more likely to seek validation through gaming. Effective stress management is also crucial in combating addictive behavior, as children experiencing stress are more susceptible to gaming addiction. Support systems play a crucial role in mitigating these challenges, encompassing internal mechanisms such as self-esteem and emotional resilience, as well as external influences from family, peers, and the educational environment. Families can set limits and provide alternatives to gaming, while schools can educate and implement policies to prevent addiction. Collaborative and supportive relationships, both at home and at school, can help children maintain a healthier balance with technology, ensuring that dare games serve as entertainment and not a harmful addiction. Collectively addressing these issues can provide valuable insights for practitioners, parents, and educators in developing effective interventions for children at risk of dare game addiction

Abstract

Suicide ideation is an early stage that can develop into suicide if not handled properly. Students who are in the stage of preparing a thesis often face pressure from academic, emotional, and also their social environment, so they are at risk of experiencing mental health problems. In this case, emotional intelligence plays an important role as a protective mechanism, because it involves individual skills in recognizing, understanding, and regulating emotions effectively. This study aims to determine the relationship between suicide ideation and emotional intelligence in students who are working on a thesis at Padang State University. This research uses correlational methodology with a quantitative approach. The population in this study included students in semester seven to fourteen, and a total of 272 respondents were obtained using purposive sampling technique. In the process of collecting data, the research was carried out by utilizing two types of measurement scales, namely the emotional intelligence scale based on the theory of Salovey and Mayer (1990) developed by Maryam & Rusli (2021), and the Beck Suicide Ideation (BSS) scale from Beck (1997) adapted by Kesuma et al. (2021). The findings of this study indicate that there is a significant negative relationship between suicide ideation and emotional intelligence in other words, the higher a person's emotional intelligence, the less likely they are to have suicide ideation.
