Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out how high school students' critical thinking abilities are affected when using the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) methodology. The question asked is whether, compared with traditional learning and limited learning based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), students' critical thinking abilities can be significantly improved with CTL-based learning. This study uses a quantitative experimental method with a pretest-posttest research design, which involves three groups: one experimental group using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), and two control groups using conventional learning and Contextual Teaching and Learning-based learning (CTL) limited. The research sample consisted of three classes selected by purposive sampling at Tamanan Bondowoso State High School. Data was collected using pretest and posttest to measure students' critical thinking skills, as well as questionnaires to explore related aspects. The data analysis technique used is a simple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS software. The findings demonstrate that students' critical thinking abilities significantly improve when Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) is used. The Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) experimental group outperformed both the positive control group (58.65) and the negative control group (64.29), with an average posttest score of 74.12. With a regression coefficient of 0.467 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), the findings of a straightforward linear regression analysis demonstrated that Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) significantly improved students' critical thinking abilities. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in raising high school students' critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

The turn of the times raises competitiveness in various aspects of life, the development of education is the main source of interest to put every human being competing how to be able to balance the potential and demands of the times. Multicultural education provides equal learning opportunities to students regardless of their differences. That is, multicultural education is an educational approach that does not differentiate between cultures, ethnicities, religions, and other differences in the sense that all are considered equal, have the same opportunities and opportunities, and can be harmonious without only favoring each group let alone scorn or consider other groups inferior or even enemies to their groups. One of the urgent values that need to be internalized is the value of multicultal religion to form a tolerant person and character that unites affection and psychomotor in facing social life. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method, which is a method carried out by searching for data that can provide a clear picture of the internalization of multicultural-based religious values in shaping tolerant character in ma'had salafiyah syafi'iyah sukorejo situbondo. The cooperation of all parties, both internal and external in the realm of education, partnership and society, has a positive impact on the results of the internalization of multicultural-based religious values in shaping tolerant character in ma'had salafiyah syafi'iyah sukorejo situbondo, So that each graduate is able and ready to face social life in a peaceful, safe and peaceful society.

Abstract

This study discusses the policy of independent learning as a new, innovative approach in the national development process. In the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, education in Indonesia is expected to be able to adapt in a flexible and relevant way. Independent learning, which was introduced in 2019 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, provides freedom to schools, teaching staff, and students in undergoing a learning process that suits their respective needs and potentials. This study adopts a literature review method with a descriptive qualitative approach, using analysis from various sources of literature and documentation and policies. The study findings indicate that independent learning can encourage improvements in the quality of human resources through a project-based learning approach, character building, and the development of relevant skills in the 21st century. However, there are still challenges faced, such as uneven facilities between regions, the readiness of educators, and understanding of the new curriculum. Therefore, the implementation of this policy needs to be supported by adequate infrastructure, training for teachers, and cooperation between sectors. In conclusion, independent learning shows significant potential as a basis for transformation in education and sustainable national development.

Abstract

Fiscal policy is a primary instrument used by the state to regulate and promote economic development. In Indonesia, the Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Regional Retribution remain important sources of revenue for provincial governments, including East Java. However, the modern taxation system often gives rise to debates concerning justice, effectiveness, and its impact on lower-middle-class groups. This article explores the concept of the state and fiscal system in Islamic law through an analysis of the thought of Abul A‘la al-Maududi, a contemporary Islamic thinker who made significant contributions to the discourse on Islamic politics and Sharia-based economics. The study focuses on the relevance of al-Maududi's ideas to the implementation of tax and regional retribution policies in East Java, particularly in the context of distributive justice and state responsibility according to the principles of Sharia. Using a qualitative approach and literature review method, this article finds that al-Maududi views the Islamic state as a divine entity tasked with upholding social justice through fair and responsible resource management. In its fiscal system, taxation is considered a complementary mechanism to zakat and must not be oppressive. When applied to local fiscal policies such as motor vehicle taxes and public service retributions in East Java, al-Maududi’s thought emphasizes the importance of the principles of public interest (maṣlaḥah), justice, and transparency in implementation. This study recommends a reassessment of local fiscal policies to better align with the values of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah and Islamic fiscal ethics.

Abstract

This study analyzes the urgency and strategy of education policy transformation as a crucial foundation for sustainable national development in the era of globalization. With the increasingly blurred geographical boundaries and the acceleration of technology brought by the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the quality of human resources (HR) has become the main determinant of national competitiveness. The existing education system, which is often still oriented towards knowledge transfer, faces significant challenges in preparing graduates with 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, complex problem solving, and digital literacy. Through a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis, this study identifies that education transformation must include curriculum restructuring towards holistic competencies, improving the quality and welfare of teachers, integrating digital technology into the learning process, and strengthening relevance to the needs of industry and the global job market. Furthermore, this transformation also emphasizes the importance of internalizing the values ​​of nationalism and tolerance as a moral fortress and social cohesion amidst biased information flows and potential polarization. In conclusion, education policy transformation is no longer an option, but a strategic mandate to ensure that Indonesia has a solid development foundation and HR that is able to compete on the global stage. The comprehensive implementation of this transformation will enable Indonesia to transform the demographic bonus into a sustainable productive force, while maintaining the identity and unity of the nation amidst the dynamics of globalization.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and identify various elements of teacher competence contained in the book Ushul At-Tarbiyah Wa Ta'lim, which is used in the education process in the pesantren environment. These competencies are analysed and compared with the teacher competency standards as stated in the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 14 of 2005. This research uses the literature study method with a philosophical approach as the basis for analysis. Law Number 14 of 2005 states that there are four main dimensions in teacher competence, namely pedagogic, personality, professional, and social competence. These four aspects are also found in the book Ushul At-Tarbiyah Wa Ta'lim as fundamental elements in the formation of teacher competence. After being analysed in depth and linked to the context of today's education, the competency content in the book is proven to be relevant and can be used as a reference in developing learning strategies and practices in educational institutions, especially pesantren.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the school policy strategy in strengthening character education through Akidah Akhlak learning at MI Raudlatul Ulum Patemon, Jember. The background of this study is based on concerns about the decline in student morality as reflected in various deviant behaviors. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation, and is analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study indicate that MI Raudlatul Ulum Patemon has implemented an integrated school policy in the formation of student character through a religious habituation program, instilling Islamic values ​​in the Akidah Akhlak subject, and teacher role models. Akidah Akhlak learning is a strategic space for internalizing moral values ​​through a thematic and narrative approach. The challenges faced include the absence of standard character evaluation standards and the need to increase teacher capacity. However, parental involvement and a supportive school culture are strengthening factors. This study makes a real contribution to the practice of character education at the elementary school level and recommends the need for replication of similar policies in other educational institutions.

Abstract

The post-2008 crisis era, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, has ushered in a permissive global monetary policy, raising essential questions about the sustainability of the fiat monetary system. This has triggered a trust deficit, fundamentally challenging what is termed the "Monetary Social Contract"-an implicit agreement wherein citizens entrust the store of value function to state-issued currency, with the adoption of Bitcoin in Indonesia becoming an expression of this unrest. This paper aims to (1) analyze the primary drivers behind the search for independent (non-state) hedge assets, (2) examine their implications for national monetary sovereignty, and (3) formulate a framework for innovative public policy responses using a qualitative approach through conceptual analysis and a literature study of secondary data. The findings indicate that the impetus for Bitcoin adoption originates not only from domestic inflation data but also as a reaction to the global phenomenon of systemic fiat devaluation. Its primary implications are the potential weakening of monetary policy transmission and a decline in the demand base for the Rupiah. It is concluded that prohibitive policy responses would be counter-productive. This paper recommends a dual-track approach: (1) strengthening the monetary social contract through innovation in state financial instruments, and (2) integrating independent (non-state) assets into a safe and controlled regulatory framework.

Abstract

Abstract. This study investigates the development of digital technology literacy within the management of educational institutions. It focuses on identifying the outcomes generated when digital literacy is integrated into institutional management, as well as the strategies employed to develop technologically advanced schools. Adopting a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was guided by Miles and Huberman’s framework, encompassing five stages: exploring, sorting, describing, explaining, and predicting. The findings reveal that digital technology literacy significantly contributes to the creation of various educational innovations. These include the establishment of technology-based learning systems, enhanced access to educational resources for both teachers and students, and the implementation of digital infrastructure such as Wi-Fi and digital laboratories. These advancements foster student engagement, satisfaction, and skill development. The strategies identified to cultivate technologically superior schools involve two primary approaches: (1) training educators and students in digital literacy, and (2) continuously organizing digital-based competitions to ensure ongoing skill development and adaptation to emerging challenges. The novelty of this research lies in its emphasis on institutional management through the lens of digital technology integration.

Abstract

This study explores how to push the student to higher critical thinking in analyzing English songs’ lyrics by integrating the online dictionary and the WH-Questions strategy. It is used to savvy the messages contained in the songs. An online dictionary is used as a learning tool, and WH-Questions act as a practical approach in the fun process of learning English. The five Students were selected from the fourth semester of English department at Al-Falah Assuniyah University, Jember. It is a total of twenty students in the fourth semester in the English Department Study Program. Students faced difficulty in expressing an idea, difficulty in arranging the sentence, difficulty in find some vocabulary, and difficulty in using grammar. To get the best practice in analyzing the results, this study used a qualitative method. Some references from articles and theories are used to gain additional information in-depth analysis in conducting this study. Hence, the findings show that by using WH-Questions strategy and an online dictionary proved that students can write quickly, easily, systematically with the correct tenses and good vocabulary. Students also explored their creativity in creating their ideas. Lecture could include this method and materials in the curriculum development or their lesson plan. The lecturer's policy in determining the right method also has a very important role. This research places more importance on a structured and directed learning process, so that the results of the learning process can achieve the expected goals.
