Abstract

This study examines how the “Curriculum of Love” is culturally negotiated within heterogeneous English language classrooms to foster educational equity. The central issue addressed is the persistence of power asymmetries, sociocultural disparities, and instrumental pedagogical practices that marginalize affective and ethical dimensions of language education. This research aims to analyze the forms, processes, and meanings of the Curriculum of Love as enacted in classroom interactions and its contribution to equitable learning. Employing a qualitative approach with classroom ethnography, data were collected through participant observation, in - depth interviews, and instructional document analysis. The findings reveal that the Curriculum of Love operates as a reflective pedagogical practice that mediates differences, reduces symbolic hierarchies, and strengthens empathetic relationships between teachers and students. Cultural negotiation emerges through language use, inclusive teaching strategies, and recognition of students’ identities. The study concludes that the Curriculum of Love extends beyond normative discourse, functioning as a transformative cultural practice in language education. The novelty of this research lies in conceptualizing the Curriculum of Love as a mechanism of cultural negotiation that advances equity and social justice within heterogeneous English classrooms.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teacher strategies in implementing the Iqro method for Quran learning in early childhood in the digital era. Using a qualitative approach with a basic research design, the study was conducted at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 2 Kindergarten in Muncar, Banyuwangi during the period of February-May 2025. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with 6 informants (the principal, 4 class teachers, and the program coordinator), and documentation studies. Data analysis using the Miles-Huberman interactive model includes data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Iqro method is carried out through a routine morning Quran program with the following stages: reading together, individual sorogan, independent coaching, progress evaluation, and volume increase tests. Supporting factors include the availability of guidance, individual approaches, and teacher persuasive communication. The main obstacles are the lack of interest of some students, monotonous learning, and limited teacher creativity. The Iqro method has been proven effective in improving children's Quran reading skills with indicators of increased recognition of hijaiyah letters, pronunciation of makhraj, and understanding of basic tajwid. The research recommends the development of a holistic strategy that integrates the technical aspects of reading with an understanding of spiritual meaning according to the characteristics of early childhood.

Abstract

Poverty in South Banyuwangi is often rooted in limited access to productive capital. This study aims to explore the contribution of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Genteng in empowering the micro economy to alleviate poverty. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through observations and in-depth interviews with BSI management and customers. The results indicate that BSI Genteng plays a strategic role by distributing Sharia People's Business Credit (KUR) financing under an inclusive Murabahah contract for underbanked businesses. This capital strengthening not only increases customers' real income but is also accompanied by spiritual and managerial mentoring that strengthens business resilience. In conclusion, BSI's intervention is effective in breaking dependence on informal financing and encouraging the economic transformation of mustahik (beneficiaries) into self-reliance. This research contribution strengthens the theory of social intermediation and provides practical guidance for Islamic banks in aligning operational standards with local wisdom to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

This study aims to address the main questions of how psychology-based student management is implemented at MAN 2 Banyuwangi, its role in strengthening students’ learning motivation and academic achievement, and the factors that hinder its implementation. The study is positioned within the field of educational management, emphasizing the integration of educational psychology approaches in student management practices at a public Islamic senior high school. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, vice principal for student affairs, guidance and counseling teachers, homeroom teachers, and students, and were reinforced by observations and document analysis. The data were analyzed descriptively using the interactive analysis model proposed by Miles and Huberman. Data trustworthiness was ensured through triangulation and member checking. The findings indicate that psychology-based student management is implemented in an integrated manner through psychological assessment from the student admission process, preventive and developmental guidance and counseling services, personal mentoring by homeroom teachers, and collaboration among educational stakeholders. These strategies significantly contribute to fulfilling students’ basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence, and relatedness) which in turn enhance learning motivation and academic achievement. However, the implementation faces several challenges, including the limited number of guidance and counseling teachers, administrative workload, limited service time, and varying levels of family support.

Abstract

Indonesian society has a very high level of plurality, both in terms of religion, ethnicity, and culture. This is actually an asset for development, but the threat of conflict is also very high. Religious moderation is an important prerequisite for achieving social harmony in a pluralistic society. Yosomulyo Village, Gambiran District, is known as a region where diverse religions and cultural backgrounds coexist relatively harmoniously. Residents build trust-based communication and consider religion a private matter. Meanwhile, togetherness as part of the community must be maintained as a form of preserving tradition. Residents recognize the plurality in their region and, through religious understanding, realize multiculturalism. This article aims to analyze the role of inclusive communication in preserving local traditions as a strategy to strengthen religious moderation in Yosomulyo Village. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. The results indicate that local traditions nurtured through inclusive communication serve as a medium for interfaith social dialogue, strengthening tolerance, and preventing the polarization of religious identities. These findings confirm that communication based on local wisdom plays a significant role in building contextual and sustainable religious moderation. Keywords: inclusive communication, local traditions, religious moderation, Yosomulyo Village.

Abstract

Environmental crises have emerged alongside the development of modernity, demanding collective awareness and shared responsibility within society. In response to this challenge, young people have increasingly participated in environmental movements, one of which is the concrete environmental action carried out by the Pandawara Group. By packaging and disseminating their actions through social media platforms, the Pandawara Group not only promotes environmental awareness but also conveys moral and humanitarian values to the wider public. This phenomenon is noteworthy for academic inquiry, particularly from an Islamic perspective that emphasizes ecological character education as part of value-based social transformation and examines the relevance of the Pandawara Group’s movement as a medium for ecological character education. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method. The analysis is conducted through a descriptive-analytical framework by examining ideas and values found in the literature as well as the environmental practices of the Pandawara Group as discussed in relevant scholarly sources. The findings indicate that the environmental movement of the Pandawara Group reflects Islamic values such as tawhid, amanah (trust), responsibility, uswatun hasanah (exemplary conduct), and human awareness as khalifah on earth. Contextually, the Pandawara Group’s environmental movement functions as a form of non-formal education that strengthens ecological character education and encourages value-based social transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the implementation of the murabahah contract in the Micro KUR financing products at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KCP Rogojampi. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in- depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving financing managers, marketing staff, and customers as informants. The results indicate that the implementation of the murabahah contract at BSI KCP Rogojampi has complied with sharia principles through transparency in acquisition costs and profit margins. Although the mechanism of asset ownership (milkiyah) is often combined with a wakalah contract for operational efficiency, the bank continues to ensure the validity of the contract. The main obstacles identified include administrative complexity that slows down fund disbursement and low customer literacy, as many customers still equate profit margins with conventional interest. Nevertheless, this financing has proven to have a positive impact on improving working capital and production capacity of MSMEs. This study recommends simplifying procedures through digitalization and enhancing more proactive sharia education for customers.

Abstract

This research aims to comprehensively analyze the challenges and opportunities of BUMDes Tamara from a Syariah perspective in its efforts to improve the local economy in Desa Tamansari. The method used is qualitative research, with primary data collected through interviews and observations with the management of BUMDes, village officials, and the community, supplemented by secondary data. The study findings indicate that the main challenge for BUMDes Tamara is the use of an interest-based loan system (riba), which contradicts the principles of syariah. However, BUMDes has implemented other syariah principles such as honest business ethics, deliberation (musyawarah), social responsibility, and economic empowerment through business units applying the maqashid al-syariah approach. The opportunities include the potential of natural resources, human resources, local market needs, and access to syariah financing such as mudharabah, musyarakah, and murabahah, enabling optimal village business development in accordance with syariah principles. In conclusion, BUMDes Tamara contributes positively to local economic empowerment and business sustainability, but further innovation and education are needed to develop interest-free financing products to fully comply with syariah and foster halal and just village enterprise development.

Abstract

This study examines the contribution of zakat and waqf to social and economic development within Muslim communities. Zakat and waqf represent two fundamental instruments of Islamic social finance that function not only as mechanisms of worship, but also as strategic tools for poverty alleviation, income redistribution, and social empowerment. This research employs a qualitative approach through library research, drawing on academic journals, books, and authoritative reports related to zakat, waqf, and socio-economic development. Data were analyzed using descriptive-analytical techniques with content analysis to identify patterns, impacts, and challenges in the implementation of zakat and waqf institutions. The findings indicate that zakat plays a significant role in short-term poverty reduction through consumptive and productive distribution, while waqf—particularly productive waqf—contributes to long-term economic sustainability by supporting education, health services, and community-based economic activities. Furthermore, the integration and synergy between zakat and waqf management strengthen their collective impact on social welfare and inclusive economic growth. However, institutional governance, public literacy, and regulatory effectiveness remain key challenges that limit their optimal contribution. This study concludes that zakat and waqf, when managed professionally and transparently, possess strong potential to support sustainable social and economic development and to complement state-led development programs.
