Abstract

This research aims to develop teaching materials for Muhammadiyah courses that are oriented towards digital learning innovation and blended learning in the Muhammadiyah Higher Education environment. This research is motivated by the still dominant use of conventional lecture methods and the limitations of the use of interactive digital media in Muhammadiyah learning. Based on initial observations of three lecturers and twenty students of the Islamic Religious Education Study Program at the University of Muhammadiyah West Sumatra, it was found that most students considered the learning process less interesting, while lecturers still faced obstacles in integrating technology-based learning approaches effectively. This research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the Borg and Gall model which is adapted into four stages, namely needs analysis, product design, limited trials, and evaluation and revision. The product developed is different from existing teaching materials because it integrates progressive Islamic values, interactive digital content, reflective learning activities, and blended learning models that combine synchronous and asynchronous learning. Research data was collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and limited product trials. Student engagement is measured through indicators of participation, interaction, learning motivation, and assignment completion during learning implementation. The results of the study show that the teaching materials developed are able to increase student participation and strengthen understanding of the ideological values and praxis of Muhammadiyahan. However, this study also found several limitations, such as the limited number of participants, the context of research that was only conducted at one institution, and the difference in the level of digital literacy between lecturers and students. These findings show that the development of digital teaching materials based on Progressive Islamic values has the potential to increase the relevance and effectiveness of Muhammadiyah learning, although broader testing is needed to assess the sustainability and generalization of research results.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the interpretations of Imam al-Qurṭubī and Imam Wahbah al-Zuḥaylī concerning the verses on al-laghw as a path toward attaining Paradise (al-Firdaus) in QS. al-Mu’minūn verse 3, as well as to identify the similarities and differences between al-Qurṭubī’s interpretation and that of Tafsīr al-Munīr regarding al-laghw in the same verse. This study is a library-based research employing a comparative (muqārran) method. The research process begins with a general explanation of the concept of al-laghw in relation to attaining Paradise (al-Firdaus), followed by an analysis of the perspectives of the two exegetes. The findings indicate that the term al-laghw appears in eleven verses of the Qur’an and generally refers to futile speech and actions, or words and deeds that bring no benefit. Among its meanings are all forms of immorality and polytheism (shirk). The significance of this research lies in providing insight into how verses concerning al-laghw are interpreted from the perspectives of al-Qurṭubī and Tafsīr al-Munīr, the analytical approaches employed by both exegetes, and the Qur’anic solutions for avoiding al-laghw. It is expected that this study will serve as a scholarly reference that enriches collective understanding in fostering good moral character and avoiding reprehensible traits, one of which is al-laghw.

Abstract

This study examines the emergence, development, and socio-political impact of the Jihad Command movement in Pakenjeng District, Garut Regency, in the period 1976–1981. In contrast to previous research that focused more on Jihad Command at the national level, this study specifically emphasizes the local dynamics of the movement in Pakenjeng and its interaction with the community and state apparatus. This research aims to analyze the socio-political background behind the emergence of movements, the stages of movement development, organizational patterns and mobilization, and the state's response to the activities carried out. This research uses a historical-sociological approach based on the theoretical foundation of social movements and political resistance, especially related to ideological mobilization and state repression. The research method used is qualitative through document studies, archive searches, and critical analysis of relevant secondary sources. Data are analyzed through the stages of source criticism, interpretation, and historical reconstruction to obtain analytical validity and accuracy of the research context. The results of the study show that the Jihad Command movement in Pakenjeng developed through several stages, starting from the consolidation of ideology, the expansion of closed networks, to the strengthening of the narrative of religious militancy before finally experiencing setbacks due to the repressive actions of the state in the 1979-1981 period. This movement was influenced by a combination of ideological, political, and socio-economic factors, especially dissatisfaction with the New Order regime and the marginalization of certain Islamic groups. In addition, this study found that the social conditions of the local community in Pakenjeng also played a role in supporting the movement mobilization process. On the other hand, the state's response, which is characterized by surveillance, arrests, and legal action, has proven to play a major role in weakening and dissolving the movement. This research contributes to the historiographical study of radical Islamic movements in Indonesia by presenting a local perspective on Jihad Command in a broader socio-political and historical context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the model, implementation strategy, and impact of the integration of the semi-modern pesantren curriculum with the national education curriculum at the Assa'adah Islamic Boarding School, Depok City. The development of national education that demands formal recognition, academic competence without eliminating the identity of classical Islamic science. This condition encourages the need to integrate the pesantren curriculum with the national education curriculum as a sustainability strategy for Islamic educational institutions. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subjects include pesantren leaders, teachers, and students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study show that the Assa'adah Islamic Boarding School applies a parallel curriculum integration model, where the salaf pesantren curriculum and the national curriculum are carried out in an integrated institutional system. Formal learning based on the Independent Curriculum is carried out in the morning, while learning the yellow book and typical programs of pesantren is carried out in the afternoon and evening. This integration is supported by schedule synchronization, integrated curriculum structure, and the implementation of dual evaluations in the form of national report cards and pesantren report cards. Curriculum integration has a positive impact on improving the academic quality of students, forming religious and nationalist characters. This research contributes to providing an adaptive and relevant model of pesantren curriculum integration for the development of contemporary Islamic education without losing its traditional identity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Islamic psychology in the formation of student morals and discipline at RUSHD Sragen Superior High School, especially in the dormitory environment. In the era of globalization, character education is an important aspect in facing increasingly complex moral and discipline challenges among students. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that the application of Islamic psychology through habituation, example, and moral education based on religious values is able to increase student discipline, responsibility, and independence. Habituation of worship, the implementation of daily responsibilities, and the consistent application of rules have proven to be effective in shaping the character of students. This research also reveals the importance of the role of dormitory coaches, teachers, and parental involvement in supporting the development of students' morals and discipline. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of Islamic psychology in dormitory-based character education, especially in the formation of morals and discipline, which was still limited to being discussed in previous research. This research contributes to the development of character education programs based on Islamic psychology, especially in dormitory-based educational institutions.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the concept of philosophy of science and philosophy of Islamic science by focusing on the definition and object of study. This study is motivated by the importance of a philosophical understanding of science, both in the general perspective and in the Islamic scientific tradition, as the basis for the development of integrative and holistic science. The research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. Data was obtained from various sources of literature, such as books, scientific journals, articles, and academic documents relevant to the research theme. The data analysis technique is carried out through content analysis to identify, classify, and interpret the main concepts related to the philosophy of science and the philosophy of Islamic science. The results of the study show that philosophy of science is a branch of philosophy that discusses the nature of science, methods of obtaining knowledge, and the validity and purpose of science. Meanwhile, the philosophy of Islamic science not only focuses on rational and empirical aspects, but also places revelation as the main source of knowledge. The object of study of philosophy of science includes ontology, epistemology, and axiology of science, while philosophy of Islamic science expands the study through the integration of spiritual values, ethics, and Islamic principles in the development of science. This research emphasizes that the philosophy of science and the philosophy of Islamic science are closely related in building a comprehensive scientific paradigm oriented towards human benefit.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of Islamic education leadership in the perspective of the Qur'an and Hadith. This research is motivated by the imbalance between managerial ability and moral integrity of leaders in a number of modern Islamic educational institutions, as well as the tendency of previous studies that are more normative and have not provided an applicative framework to contemporary leadership challenges. This research aims to analyze the concept of Islamic educational leadership, identify the relationship between the dimensions of authority and responsibility, and reconstruct Islamic education leadership models that are relevant to the needs of today's educational institutions. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. The main sources of research include classical texts such as Al-Mawardi's Al-Ahkām as-Sulthāniyyah and Al-Ghazali's Iḥyā' 'Ulūm ad-Dīn, as well as the thought of modern figures such as Ibn Taymiyyah, Muhammad Abduh, and Fazlur Rahman. Data was analyzed using descriptive-analytical techniques through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing with the theoretical framework of Islamic transformative leadership. The results of the study show that the ideal leadership of Islamic education requires a balance between al-quwwah (managerial capacity and professionalism) and al-amānah (moral integrity and spiritual responsibility), as reflected in Q.S. Al-Qashash verse 26 and Q.S. Al-Baqarah verse 30. The study also found that the synthesis between classical and contemporary thought resulted in a transformative Islamic leadership model that was able to address the challenges of professionalism, institutional governance, and social change in modern Islamic education. This study makes a new contribution in the form of the formulation of an Islamic educational leadership model that integrates the spiritual and managerial dimensions applicatively.

Abstract

This article examines the correlation between the content of surah al-waqi'ah and the public's belief about the fadhilah of reading it. As surah Makkiyah, surah al-waqi'ah affirms the certainty of the Day of Judgment, the division of human beings into three groups, the Oneness of Allah and the glory of the Qur'an as well as criticism of the attitude of denying His favor. However, in religious practice, this surah is widely believed to have the virtue of bringing sustenance and preventing poverty, which is sourced from hadith even though it is considered dhoif status. This article uses a qualitative method through a literature study with content analysis of classical and contemporary tafsir books in the style of adabi ijtima'i and hadith literature. The results of the study show that there are differences of opinion among hadith scholars regarding the use of dhoif hadith. Some reject it absolutely, some allow it in the context of fadail al-a'mal, and others accept it if there is no authentic hadith. In terms of interpretation, surah al-waqi'ah does not explicitly promise material sustenance, but rather emphasizes the strengthening of faith, eschatological awareness, and encouragement to do righteous deeds. Thus, the correlation between the content of surah al-waqi'ah and its fadhilah lies in the spiritual effects and religious ethos built through regular reading, rather than on the literal promise of materiality. These findings confirm the need for a more proportionate understanding of fadhilah and open up space for further research with an empirical and interdisciplinary approach to examine the impact of this practice on religious and social life.
