Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in improving student learning outcomes on the ecosystem material at SMA Negeri 2 Tondano. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design with two cycles, involving 30 students in the experimental class using the PBL model and 30 students in the control class applying a conventional learning model based on discussions and question-and-answer sessions. Data were collected through affective observations and cognitive evaluations using posttests at the end of each cycle. The results of the study show that the PBL model can improve student learning outcomes in both cognitive and affective domains. In the cognitive domain, the classical completeness percentage increased from 80% in Cycle I to 100% in Cycle II, with the average class score increasing from 80.15 to 90.35. In the affective domain, all students showed significant improvement, with observation scores in the high category in both cycles. The application of the PBL model motivated students to be more actively engaged in learning and improved their positive attitudes, such as discipline, responsibility, and self-confidence. This study shows that the PBL model is effective in improving both cognitive understanding and affective development in students. These findings suggest that applying PBL in Biology learning can improve the quality of teaching and student learning outcomes, with important implications for the development of problem-based teaching methods in schools

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze learning difficulties experienced by fifth-grade elementary school students. This research employs a qualitative case study approach and was conducted at SD Negeri Serang 8. The research subjects consisted of fifth-grade teachers and students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The analysis involved three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings revealed two main factors: (1) internal factors, including physiological and psychological aspects. Physiological issues such as fatigue and illness contributed to learning difficulties in the four language skills. Psychological issues included lack of interest in reading and low intelligence, which negatively affected students’ language learning. (2) External factors included the school environment, family environment, and community environment. At school, the teacher’s role significantly impacted students’ difficulties in the four language skills. In the family environment, the lack of early writing habits fostered by parents was a contributing factor. In the community environment, negative surroundings, such as peer influence and neighborhood conditions, also affected students. The study concludes that fifth-grade students’ learning difficulties in the four language skills are influenced by both internal and external factors.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of flipbook media as an innovative alternative in improving students' understanding of the material. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Participants in the study were teachers and grade V students at SDN 2 Banjaririgasi. The results of the study show that the use of flipbooks is able to facilitate a more contextual, visual, and fun learning process. Flipbooks encourage students to be more active, understand the concept of changing the form of substances microscopically and macroscopically, and relate the material to everyday life. In addition, teachers find it helpful in conveying material that was previously difficult to explain only through static images or lecture methods. This media has proven to be in harmony with dual coding theory and constructivist approaches, while supporting the development of technology-based learning and the Independent Curriculum. In conclusion, flipbooks are an effective and innovative medium in learning social studies in elementary schools and have the potential to change conventional learning patterns to be more interactive and meaningful.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of Wordwall educational games as a learning medium in increasing students' understanding and involvement in the material. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach in one of the elementary schools, involving observation, interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. Participants consisted of one teacher and 25 students of grade IV. The results of the study show that the use of Wordwall is able to significantly increase the understanding of style concepts, strengthen students' active involvement in the learning process, and foster higher learning motivation. This medium helps bridge abstract concepts into more concrete and enjoyable experiences, in accordance with the principles of constructivistic learning. However, there are challenges such as the limitations of technological devices and the need to develop teachers' competencies in managing digital game-based learning. This research reinforces the importance of integrating technology in basic learning to create an effective and enjoyable learning process. In conclusion, the application of the Wordwall game is a relevant and potential learning strategy for the Style material around us in elementary school students, which supports the achievement of optimal student understanding and engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of Adobe Animate media to optimize students' understanding of the concept of changing the shape of objects and their properties at the elementary school level in grade IV. The background of this research is based on the low level of students' understanding of concrete science concepts, such as changes in the form of objects and their properties, which have been conveyed through conventional learning methods and misconceptions of the learning materials. Adobe Animate was chosen as a learning medium because of its ability to present material visually, dynamically, and interactively. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the non-equivalent control group design, with the research subjects involving two different class groups of class IV of SDN 01 Panancangan, each as an experimental group (using Adobe Animate) and a control group (using conventional methods), with a total of 60 students. Data is collected through pretest, posttest, observation and documentation. The results of statistical analysis with t-test results indicated a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students in the experimental group and the control group (p < 0.05) which was 0.00, where the experimental group experienced a more significant increase in understanding. These findings support the assumption that the use of animation-based digital learning media can increase the effectiveness of the science learning process in elementary schools. Adobe Animate not only improves students' understanding of object concepts, interests, and engagement, but also helps them to represent concepts that are difficult to understand through verbal explanations. This research contributes to the development of innovative learning media, in line with the demands and characteristics of students in the 21st century era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the use of Kahoot! as an evaluation tool for learning science on food chain materials, especially in improving student understanding of concepts, motivation, and involvement. The research method used is qualitative with data collection through observation, interviews, and document analysis in an elementary school that implements Kahoot! in learning evaluation. The results of the study show that Kahoot! has succeeded in significantly increasing student motivation and participation, but its effectiveness in supporting an in-depth understanding of the concept of the food chain is still limited. Use of Kahoot! tend to encourage quick answers that sometimes ignore conceptual understanding and cause visual overload and digital fatigue in students. These findings underscore the need for a learning approach that combines Kahoot! with reflective strategies and the active role of teachers to maximize their benefits. In conclusion, Kahoot! It is a useful evaluation tool if it is properly integrated with the characteristics of the material and the cognitive needs of students, so as to be able to improve the quality of learning evaluation holistically. This research makes an important contribution to the development of adaptive and meaningful digital assessments in primary education.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has driven a transformation in learning strategies in elementary schools, especially through the use of digital media such as Canva. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of Canva-based learning videos on student learning outcomes in the subject of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) earth atmosphere material in grade V of State Elementary School 1 Malabar. The research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and a non-equivalent control group design model. The study subjects consisted of 60 students who were divided into experimental and control groups. The instrument used is a learning outcome test in the form of multiplechoice questions that have been validated. The results of the data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students who used Canva-based learning videos and those who used conventional methods, with a significance value (0.00 < 0.05). These findings show that Canva-based learning videos are effective in improving student learning outcomes, as well as students' understanding of abstract concepts in Earth's atmospheric material. This research contributes to the development of interesting and interactive digital learning media, as well as supporting a more meaningful learning process in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of interactive media based on Articulate Storyline 3 in improving students' understanding of the concept of ecosystems in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in grade V of Pasir Keong State Elementary School. The research background is based on the low level of students' understanding of the concept of ecosystems, the dominance of conventional learning methods, and the lack of optimal use of interactive digital media in the classroom. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, data is collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students as participants. Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results of the study show that interactive media based on Articulate Storyline 3 is able to increase student involvement, enthusiasm, and understanding in learning ecosystem materials. Interactivity in this medium provides an effective learning stimulus, making it easier for students to understand abstract concepts such as food chains and ecosystem balance. This study concludes that Articulate Storyline 3 is a relevant, effective, and adaptive learning medium to support the 21st century learning process that demands innovation and technology-based approaches

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Augmented Reality (AR) Diorama media in improving the understanding of the concept of grade V students towards living things in learning science. The background of this research is based on the need for technology-based learning innovations that are able to overcome the limitations of conventional media in conveying abstract concepts. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, semi-structured interviews, and questionnaires. The research subjects consisted of 28 grade V students and classroom teachers at SDN 2 Parung Sari. The results showed that the use of AR Diorama significantly increased students' enthusiasm, participation, and concept understanding. Interactive 3D visualization allows students to explore the body structure of living things in detail, making it easier to connect theory with visual reality. Interviews with students and teachers show that this medium not only helps with the cognitive aspect, but also fosters students' interest, curiosity, and courage to express their opinions. The results of the questionnaire strengthened this finding, where most students stated that the use of AR in understanding the material was very helpful. This study concludes that AR Diorama is an effective medium to be applied in IPAS learning, especially in helping students understand abstract material in a more concrete, fun, and meaningful way.

Abstract

Chemical reaction equations are still a difficult topic for some students to understand. Based on interviews with the grade X teacher at SMAN 1 Sumber, it was found that most students struggled to grasp the concept of chemical reaction equations. This was evident from the low average student scores in the previous academic year, which was 60—still below the minimum passing grade (KKM). Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of the Cooperative Learning model STAD in improving student learning outcomes on the topic of chemical reaction equations. The research used a non-equivalent control group design, with samples taken from class X.1 and X.7 totaling 35 students. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes through the use of a STAD-based virtual lab, with an average score of 74.14. Meanwhile, the N-Gain score reached the moderate category at 0.64, indicating the effectiveness of the Virtual Lab-integrated STAD model using PhET in enhancing students' learning outcomes.
